In this one the writters did screw up on the sattelite business because there is no spy satelite that can resolve pictures of outer space as good as seen in the show and they are designed to take pictures of Earth's surface for spionage instead, the only sattelite capabel of taking pictures like that in existence in fact is none other than the Hubble space telescope, in fact Chloe would have needed to tap not into one but a few sattelites to triangulate where the Ion trail lead and then hack hubble for the pictures!

this is smallville my friend, an alternate universe where people can suffer massive head trauma take a tylenol and be fine the next day. this is also the same place where you can travel about 200 miles in twenty mins.

As if the episode needed something else that's just silly, are we supposed to believe that Chloe can see the time-warped Krypton through a hole in the atmosphere from that satellite? Perhaps even if it were only one galaxy over, and that alone would be stretching it, but wasn't Krypton at least three galaxies away from earth? She can see a sun and planet that far away through that little hole?
Not to mention it making no sense of the time warp being visible in the present satellite picture.
Someone get me an advil!

I think it just one of many things on the show that you just except as fact because that's what the writers want you to believe.
I could make a list of 101 logical flaws this season alone if i try to analyse everything. Compared to some other logical flaws, this is a minor blip on the radar

Is it 3 galaxies away? because if that is the case it would have taken billions if not trillions of years even travelling at the speed of light for KalEl and the asteroids that acompainied him to reach Earth.

You would need warp drive,q, hal jordan a.k.a. green lantern, and the legion of superheroes time bubble, to go 3 galaxies! That being said, let's just enjoy the fantasy science!;)

beyond that there is no way that we would be able to see Krypton as a star in the sky(skinwalkers i think said something to the degree that there used to be a star that was an eye of a wolf that disappeared)

If the satellite we see Brainiac and Kara passing took the picture, then how is it in it?

The satellite took a picture of Brainiac and Kara (or at least their flying streaks) going into the black hole. Then a few seconds later it shows nobody there and the black hole is gone. So Chloe assumed that they went in the black hole and it acted as a time portal to take them back to Krypton in 1989...give or take a few lightyears. :p

For this episode, I can't agree. Ive suspended plausibility without qualm in the past because it's a science-fiction, comic-book adaption, but this episode went too far on dumbing down the audience's intelligence.

They've said on the show and other versions of Superman it's galaxies away, yes. If you have a problem with the plausibility, blame it on the legend of Superman.
*after posting that, I realize it came across rude. No rudeness intended, I swear, just don't know how else to phrase it!*

Actually alot of the resources for photographs adn information at Nasa are publicly available, some of the satalites broadcast clear signals that can be picked up by pretty standard equipment if you you know the right frequencies.
LexLuv180

Yes, but those are standard photographs, not 20 year old time-warped planets galaxies away, viewable by the exact angle needed through a tiny hole. Sigh, this episode has seriously thrown me for a loop!

Well, Chloe and various plot holes i cannot explain, did she actually say which satelite network she was hacking? It could have been Olivers satelites.

No, they didn't bother telling us, I don't believe.

From everything I hear the school systems are getting worse in this country. I can't believe they taught everyone a satellites capabilities to the point that a Sci-fi show not getting it right drives you bananas.

^^Wouldn't that be a good thing, people know that you just can't hack a satalite the way Smallville hacks things.

LMAO... good one.. and she did mention that she had to hack in into the government satellites to track down Kara and Braniac, since those are the ones in the higher orbit.

SO WHAT ?!?
who cares if you cant actually see it in real life, does it really affect the show in any way,
NOOOOOOOO.
so why they hell is there a need to complain about it.
you want them to go out of their way so that it makes sense to everyone,
just relax and go with the flow, people !!!! no need for so many questions !

At least they should try to make it as believable as possible just because is fiction does not mean you completely write off the laws of phisics or how can such a hack feasibly occur. So no you are both wrong that we should accept everything without question just for being a fantasy/science fiction show.
And all I'm saying is that could have been done better, a whole lot better had they paid attention to such details instead of making the episode a cheap imitation of James Bond which is what they ended up doing, in fact the episode should have been named 00Jimmy!:D:lol::D
