I forgot about Darkseid to tell you the truth... All theories of Darkseid coming to Smallville disappeared when "Descent" aired for me... Maybe it's because I forgot about the satellite being in space when "Descent" aired anyways. :o

I think that the satellite was the thing that was used to take the pictures from outer space that Chloe looked at. I'm unsure, though.
