OK, this is bugging me about torchwood

It's meant to be a secret organisation that gathers alien tech and covers up anything the rift throws at them - but why is it, everyone in cardiff seems to have torchwood's landline number?

I don't think most Cardiff residents know precisely what Torchwood is. All the mainline police seem to know is that it's an elite unit of some kind.

It dosn't help that they have TORCHWOOD plastered on the side of their car and that the pizza boy knows where the Hub is. But I still like the show

I like it too; it's darker than Doctor Who. I'm not sure than I like the dead-Owen situation, but I do appreciate the tidbits about Jack's previous life that the show keeps throwing us.
