Fan Art Challenge Round #142: TV's Bad Boys & Girls (Multi-Fandom Challenge!)


Intro:
Some of TV's best characters are bad. Some are just plain evil villains (i.e T-Bag from Prison Break & Syler from Heroes) some are ambiguously bad (i.e Lionel Luthor of Smallville & Cameron of Terminator), some are bad because they have tough exteriors and know how to take care of business (Oliver Queen from Smallville & Dean Winchester from Supernatural), some are bad because they break the rules for behavior and have bad attitudes (House from House M.D) and some have hidden or not-so-hidden bad sides (Clark Kent & Lana Lang of Smallville & Kate Austen from LOST). For this challenge you can make graphics based on any "bad" characters or good "bad" characters.

Allowed themes/TV fandoms - most of these used to or currently do have forums here: Smallville, Supernatural, Prison Break, Heroes, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Jericho, Invasion (2005), Flash Gordon (2007), Moonlight, LOST, Bionic Woman (2007), Veronica Mars, Doctor Who (series 1-3 only), Grey's Anatomy, Battlestar Galactica (the new series), House M.D, The X-Files, Stargate:SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Bones, Star Trek (All live action TV Trek series), CSI, and The 4400.
Please use one show per graphic unless you are using screen caps from when the show had a cross-over episode.

Image Choice: Please only use images from your chosen shows. No out of character or actors magazine photo shoot pictures please. Screen captures and TV show promotional images are all allowed.

All graphics must be original for this challenge. Pre-made resources such as textures, brushes etc are always allowed.

Entries: You may post as many graphics as you wish to post on the challenge thread, just remember only one or maybe two will be put in the final poll for people to vote on. (See "Awarding.")

3.1024x768
4.1152x864

Suggestion: Try to keep your entries' file sizes under 1 MB so people can view them easily even on slower web connections.

The poll will be posted April 10.

Awarding:

At the end of the challenge FotW will post a poll. The poll can include up to ten items. The poll will include only two entries per person (if space allows) or FotW will chose one entry per person to be voted on. The poll will determine first and second place (and if there are enough entries third place & one or two mod's choice awards will be given).
If you decide that if you'd rather not have your graphics as part of the challenge poll just say so when you post your entry.

In addition, all participants will receive a commemorative graphic for participating in the challenge.

Rules for Posting Your Entries On Challenge Thread (Please read because this is different than our usual challenges):

#1. Please post the name of the show, the characters name and (optional the name of your piece).

Optional: You also may write a sentence or two, or three about what you created and why etc.

#2. You may post credits for resources (brushes, textures but do not directly link to other fan sites as per K-Site rules).

#3. As always our rule for all challenges applies - all images entered must abide by KryptonSite's forum rules for posting in the K-Site Forums.
Please read those rules regarding spoilers and permitted content on a post sticked in this forum.
Remember that all posted images must be under 200x200 pixels for fast and easy page loading. This means we will need to post clickable thumbnails instead of full images. If you need help with creating thumbnails, ask me. Photobucket, Pictiger and Image Shack create thumbnails automatically so I recommend those hosts.

Character (the main one focused on at least): Lana Lang from Season 7 (Wrath)
Optional Title: Lana's True Identity

Sentences: Umm, since "Wrath" was one of my favorite Season 7 episodes and I'm officially a Lana fan starting this season, I figured why not make Lana the focus of my first wallie for the challenge. :\ Basically, it's showing how Lana's truly felt and how once she got Clark's powers she was able to show the world those feelings that she had hidden for so long.

The credits and stuff are in my thread, so I'll just find the links and stuff and bring them here later. Too tired at the moment... :o

I have one question, though. Does the character featured in the wallpaper have to be a main or recurring character or can they be a one/two time appearing character like Bizarro?

Exceptional wallpaper, Humdinger! :D I like the choice of Lex images that you used and the fact that you included one from when he was a child is really neat as well. It kinda lets you see Lex before he took the path of evil. The quote that you chose really fits him as well. Really great text selection; I wish I was good with texts, lol. You also did a really good job with cutting out the images as well. There's no traces of it being cut out and stuff. ;)

Bit about it: Sam's going through a tough time right now on the show. He's not sure which direction he's going to end up going but it's looking pretty dark. His character is slowly becoming more and more dark as the series progresses. We'll just have to see where his road goes. Incorporated 'The Road Ahead' lyrics by City to City - although I'm not a huge fan of the song I love the lyrics and thought they worked well for Sam.

The wallpapers look fantastic, Ginx! :D I like the first one with the different images of Sam and how some of them are faded. The choice of the images was really good as well especially the one with the mark on his chest/collarbone area and the one in the far left. :) I like what you did with the lyrics of the song by letting the color change as it moved down.

The second wallie of Dean looks incredible as well with the choice of images and the darkness of the first one. I like how you put the car in the background as well. The red border around it along with the description of Dean was really neat. The glaring image of Dean really suit the image as well. ;)

The Chloe wallpaper looks great, Stacy! :D I like the choice of images that you used and the blending of them as well. The different fadings (I guess that's what I should use in the situation) of the pictures were great as well like with the big picture on the right of Chloe. :) I especially liked the Chloe with the lollipop picture you used, the texture that you used and what you did with the font.

Thanks for the comments about the text - but all I did was edit it. Its from the Wiki on Dean :) - I honestly forgot to list it as a resource but I just added it. I just love Wikipedia, there is a Wiki on everything. Although someone needs to update the Supernatural Wiki. It's only up to season 2.

A little bit about it....I loved Bizarro and the way that Welling played him as well. Slightly evil but he did seem to be capable of 'love' in a way and just wanted to live. A little bit about it...Sylar is a wonderful bad boy villain. He believes that he is obeying the laws of natural selection is his killing of other powered people. I wanted this piece to reflect his violence, which is focused yet can get a little messy. I also wanted it to reflect the inner workings of a killer ;) I wanted the feeling that it was burning into you - because if you were faced with him that's how it would feel. Anyway, that's just what I had in my mind :)

I basically wanted to exaggerate on the image itself. Nothing spectacular except a lot of layers and coloring.

That looks incredible! :D I love the choice of colors and the composition is great. The way that you have the first image of Lex positioned and then a smaller grayscaled version looks really cool. :) I'm not sure if the effect was put especially for the gunshot, but the little swirls and stuff from the gunshot looks really nice. The font that you chose for his name fit the rest of the wall as well. ;)

This wall looks fantastic! :D The pictures that you chose really fit the overall mood of the wallpaper and the positioning of all of the pictures was really good too. The blending was superb especially towards the left hand side. :) The way that it's faded at different parts is nice as well. I really like the texture that you used because it gives some of the pictures a nice feel like the center one of his hand. The text and font look great and the color that you chose really suits the wall. :)

This wallie looks fantastic! :cool: I like that you chose Bizi and decided to run with the green theme on it. The blending of the pictures was great especially the two on the right. ;) I like how all of the pictures except the center picture are basically green to go with the Green K picture under it. I liked how you used his quote in there as well. The font that you used for his name looks great and the way that it's broken makes it fit Bizarro even more. :D

And thanks :) I was actually going to black out Ruby eyes in the wall, made it demon eyes, problem was I couldn't get it to look right so i took it out.

A little bit about it...Sylar is a wonderful bad boy villain. He believes that he is obeying the laws of natural selection is his killing of other powered people. I wanted this piece to reflect his violence, which is focused yet can get a little messy. I also wanted it to reflect the inner workings of a killer ;) I wanted the feeling that it was burning into you - because if you were faced with him that's how it would feel. Anyway, that's just what I had in my mind :)

I must have missed this wall for some reason when I was replying around the time that you made the Bizarro wall... :o Anyways the wall looks superb, Ginx. :D I like the red color that you used with it especially in the biggest picture. The way that you did the text is really neat. I like the faded text on Sylar's forehead and the one at the bottom of the wallpaper as well. The different facial expressions of Sylar in the center adds a lot to the wall IMO. And the brushwork/textures look incredible. :D

Wow, those wallpapers look fantastic! :D The first wall looks really neat with the different images of House that you chose and the lighting with them looks great. I like the pills in the background and how they're kind of blended in the image. All of the blood splatters really fit and give it that edgy look.

I like the Sylar wall as well. All of the different textures on the different images of Sylar really go well together. I like the choice of positions of the images and the red hue on the image in the lower right hand corner. All of those words to describe Sylar really fit too especially "manipulative", lol. I like what you did to the text at the bottom of the wallpaper with the brushwork.

About the piece: I wanted a wall that kind of reflex the character, the pic in ther center shows Bela's face changing and melting into diamonds, like it's showing what's inside of her and that she's like diamonds, beautiful and glamourous but also hard, cold and sharp, dangerously beautiful.

Wow, this wallpaper looks exceptional. :) All of the different items in the background really suit Bela's personality like you said in the description. The image that you chose really goes well with the piece as well because she looks so beautiful, so you wouldn't think that she is a thief. I like the way that you did the image of her in the center. It's really creative and the text looks amazing.

About the piece: I wanted to have an entry in this round that showed a very different kind of bad boy than the other entries we have here so far. Rather than being a villian or even a good guy with a bad attitude we have instead a very sweet guy who completely screwed up and cheated on his wife with his best friend. I also tried to do something different with the look of the wall, usually my art is very brightly coloured even if it's covered in blood but for this one I made it dark and faded, like the image of George as the sweet good guy is falling apart but also the image both women had of their relationship with George is falling apart too with Callie believing that George married her because he loves her and Izzy believing what she and George had was true love.

Your new entries are fantastic, Lee! I love what you did with the first one with the positioning of all of the pictures. I like all of the pictures too and the way that some of them are behinds loads of brushwork/textures is great. The text looks really good as well. It really fits the piece itself and I can kind of get a feeling of how that relationship is on the show (even though I don't watch it). *faints b/c of the awesome brushwork*

The second wallpaper looks incredible as well! I love the colors that you chose as the main focus and the composition is great. The cropping done on the pictures in the center really look amazing and so does their positioning. I like how it's not straight, but turned. The background looks amazing and really adds a lot to the wall.

Thank you Ginx, umm, I'm letting Stevie choose which wall to enter for me.

James thank you :) I wasn't sure about my two new walls, glad you think the text looks good on the Grey's Anatomy one, that took a while to decide. Fainting? Ooo *blushes* And the second one, thank you, for the coloring of that one I used Stevie's texture and some selective colouring over it. Not sure about the composition of that one, felt like the wall wasn't balanced enough. For the pics on that wall I used a pen tool which i never used before to draw a square spiral shape, then put the picture over it, select the shape, then inverse selection and put a masking layer in over the picture on top of the shape then go over the mask with a white brush on the mask to reveal the bits on the pic like the face that's been cut out, then spin the picture around a bit.

Those participants who entered more than one will have to choose from their entries which one they would like in the poll. There are a total of 8 participants which means there is room for one per person in the poll with a remaining two spaces.
To make up for the extra two spaces, miverva73 & Ginx may choose two of their entries because they posted earliest & posted the most entries per person. Everyone else will be limited to one item in the poll.
I'm sorry about the limited spaces - it's a forum setting- but all of the entries will qualify for a possible "mod's choice" award regardless of whether or not they are in the poll.
