Their scenes were so heartbreaking :( The goodbye scene between them brought a lump to my throat. Poor Alex, left fighting on his own. I imagine that when Lex turns completely evil, he will have killed Alex (metaphorically speaking).

And now when Clark looks for the good in Lex, he'll be looking for Alex. Very poignant.
