The character of Dax was stupidly funny; it was just Smallvile's way of having the old Jimmy Olsen on. Nobody, I don't care how goody goody you are, is going to give up those kinds of powers, ever. His character was so unbelievable that it was comical.

Well he was a plot device to bring back Brainiac in full force, and give Clark the blue kryptonite to destroy Bizarro. And he certainly served his purpose :p

Well a Hershey bar would serve the same purpose. I thought they were really stretching the boundaries of the show. Dax could have told Clark all about Krypton when he was searching for answers a few seasons ago. The MM could have informed Clark that there was another Kryptonian on earth, and they could have coaxed him in taking off the blue k and helping defeat Zod, not to mention the other phantoms.

Kryptonians are popping up whenever you turn your head on Smallville. Kara, Lara, Zor-el. Now dax. This is getting comical, what's next, Seabiscuit?

Yeah it's bit of a retcon, but I get the feeling that not a lot of people knew he had escaped to Earth, including Jor-El and any of his emissaries. After all, it's Brainiac appearing as Lionel who revealed everything to him about Dax-Ur and blue kryptonite, and made up an excuse why Lionel never told him any of this before. Now why Brainiac knew is another story. It could be because it was his creator, are at least co-creator, or because Brainiac was the master computer on Krypton, and knew all that was going on.

I thought his character was pretty good. And to the point of kryptonians on earth probably not many people knew that he left/ was still alive on earth. Also as dax said in the episode he just wanted to be left alone and live his life quitly on earth.

He was wasted. Just like Dean Cain. The only way to redeem Dean Cain's short cameo on Smallville would be for him to return and actually reveal him as Vandal Savage.

Anyone who wouldn't give up super powers for love is not the type of person I care to know.

He didn't really give up his powers, when he needed them all he had to do was take the bracelet off. IMO I thought the chracter was great.

Clark Kent does not give up his superpowers in order to have a love relationship with Lois Lane. Are you saying you would not care to know Superman, were he a real person?

He shouldn't be forced to make a decision like that. Giving up super powers is essentially denying a side of yourself just to please another person. If you can't be true to yourself, you're not much of a person.

Giving up super powers, by your choice, is making a tough decision between being powerful or being in love. And the Universe doesn't care about fairness. In the mythos of Smallville you have to give up your powers to live this normal life. It's not Dax's fault that that's the way things are. But like I said, I don't want to know anyone who wouldn't give up their powers for love. It's a sad state. People make much huger sacrifices for love every day in the real world.

He shouldn't have to give up anything to be with her. Clark is going to be fully-powered when he's with Lois and there's Superman in the mix. There's no reason Dax-Ur should have to be powerless to be with his wife.

You forgot the 2 kryptonians from the black ship and Raya..

For a planet that was supposed to be blown up with Kal-El supposed final survival...

we had a total of 7 additional Kryptonains NOT including Phantom Zod in Smallville.

I think that Dax-Ur's family will come up in the future when Clark finds out what Brainiac has done, why else tell us about his family? It was meant to be another consideration for Clark in his decision between Lana and his destiny. Clark will now consider giving it all up for Lana, if they stay together (we know they don't). When he finds out that Dax-Ur is dead and that his family is alone, or worse, he will be one step closer to becoming Superman.

Incidently, wouldn't Dax-Ur's son be half Kryptonian? How does he explain to his wife why Jr. can't go to the regular doctor? And wouldn't he have powers too?

I think the only reason for the family was to back up the reason why he would have blue kryptonite and why he wears the bracelet. He needed to have the bracelet on so later Brainiac could easily defeat him.

I don't think Dax is so unbelievable. Clark has wanted to give up his powers for Lana and did - also superman does it in the movie - so the thought that he would give up his powers to lead a normal life and have a family with a human isn't a stretch at all.
