I'm sure many of you have seen the VH1 specials, 'I Love the 70's' and the two versions of, 'I Love the 80's.' I really hope they do an 'I Love the 90's' show, although it would be weird. With that said..
What would you include in the 'I Love the 90's' show?
Well, I'm nineteen, and had a chance (like many of you) to see the evolution of technology. It's just astounding how far it has evolved. I remember, back in the 1980's, how TV's looked so "wooden" and brown. I mean, every other TV I saw on the shelves had that wood grain-type plastic on it. Then from those dial TV's (I had one), it evolved into plain ol' black TV with buttons and a remote, then into this and that, and now it's all about Plasma and LCD-Panel Televisions.
Still on the topic of Tech, there's the Audio Industry. Hell, many of my cousin's are like, "What are cassette's?" I remember my first CD player, I thought that was pretty cool.
Then there are computers, which have evolved greatly. In kindergarten, we used to use the old Mac's to do simple coordinate programming. Then I got my first PC in about 1992-1993. I believe it had a 200 mhz processor, and was a Packard Bell I think. Ach, that wasn't very kosher. lol. Now with my 3 ghz selfbuilt monster, I can look back on how far I've come (haha).
There's the internet as well. I started off with Prodigy internet, at 14.4k, I think, around 1996. Then I went to MSN internet at 56k. A few years later I was on broadband with Roadrunner. THANK GOD. Downloading was a *****, even with 56k, but at 14.4, I could barely load webpages.
Betamax. Yep, I had it. Then we dumped it for VHS, which we were all raving about until DVD's came into play. I remember when we used to tape with Betamax. Oh the horror!
Ahh, there's so much that happened technologically in the 1990's. I mean, I remember my old fridge (circa 1990). Compared with the new one, it's like "Wow." Same goes for our washer and dryer, and even dishwasher and ceiling fans.
And this is just tech!
There's also Trends, which is a very large topic to cover, TV Shows, Movies, Politics .. a whole Trivia Pursuit of things.
Oh! That reminds me. On how Video Games began to dominate Board Games. A lot of kids are growing up in this techno-age and will never know what it's like to NOT have this technology.
Man, do I feel dated. :o :D
