View Full Version : Allison Isn't Very Good At Playing the 'Romantic' or 'Girlfriend'.

Chimmy doesn't have any chemistry.

None at all.

I think that comes from that fact that Allison isn't very convincing in the romantic role. I see this almost all the time with Tom Welling and every other romantic situation she has been in in the past.

I think she is better suited in playing the role of the quirky, chipper, friend.

Her facial expressions.. I mean, she's a very good actress (best of the series as of now) but she doesn't do well!

The signals she gives off, the facial expressions she makes -- I was cringing throught every Chloe and Jimmy scene.

Erica isn't that well BUT she's not as bad as Allison -- you can tell she's getting better. She's the second best acting actress on the series right now.

Kristin is the most one dimensional of the three but she plays the 'romatic' and 'girlfriend' very well -- and she's the worst actress, IMO.

I agree that Kristin is the worst actress and I think that's why she comes on so strong as a "typical" stereo-typical girlfriend. She's playing it to cookie cutter perfection

Allison has a way of portraying Chloe's insecurities very honestly. Chloe IS awkward with relationships therefore that's how Allison needs to play her.

I completely DISAGREE.

Chlark had a lot of VERY romantic scenes, IMO.

Actually, maybe I was just caught in a particularly horny mood, but I was thinking that Allison has NEVER looked more desirable.

Now, Clark and Lana? THOSE two have no chemistry. Maybe it was just bad directing or it was INTENTIONAL fot his episode?

I thought Bizzaro and Lana were actually great together. They both had the dark brooding thing down well.
Its also pretty unfair to say that its Allisons fault for the lack of romantic mood between Chloe and Jimmy. Chloe was withdrawn for a long time. That will surely put a strain on any romantic relationship.

I think they have great chemistry and Allison played the insecure but very longing angle well.

The healing scene and the hug? MMM.... so sweet.

Allison played off of Aaron's high energy happy hopeful curiosity with a very sedate fearful sweetness.

I think it's pretty clear that when it comes to this topic, it's subjective.

I disagree. I thought she was great, especially her facial expression when she snapped "that's private," at Jimmy. She displayed vulnerability with a touch of embarrassment in that scene.
She's the most seasoned actor on Smallville out of the younger cast, and it shows.
But if I do have to criticize her acting, I'd have to say that she struggles a little with the really emotional, crying scenes ala last season's Phantom.

I don't think that AM & AA share the least bit of chemistry on this show. Chimmy really stinks. The show needs to move Chloe & the storyline beyond this pitiful waste of screen time to get the characters and the story further along.

TW & AM's chemistry is one of those rare show experiences that you don't find in every movie or tv series. That's why the Chlark ship is so popular. Tom & Allison rock together simply because they do have that chemistry.

I do agree with those that think Allison's reactions are a little off when she "does" awkward.....compare those scenes to the Chimmy reunion at the end of Trespass. Her acting hits a rough spot in those moments.

I agree......Allison plays Chloe very well!!! I think that out out of the few guys Chloe has had intrest in on the show though....she let her emotions out the best with Clark. Sometimes right at him, and sometimes while aloneor on the sidelines. I think I felt for Chloe the most in season 4...when she realized that there were some sparks between Clark and Lois.

Allison is following direction just like KK. Allisons acting is just fine, portraying her personality into her romantic scenes rather than little miss perfect with a dark side!...lana. I think KK is a good actress, it's her character that I am having trouble with...too weird.

Allison and Tom have great chemistry that's why they would be great together. But her and Jimmy never had any chemistry but I don't think was Allison's fault.Plus Chloe loves Clark not Jimmy. She wanted to love Jimmy but she didn't.

I think KK is a good actress. It's just that she's been given crappy material. Erica has also gotten better in emoting since S4. AM is a good actress, however, she has this exceptionally well written character unlike Lana and Erica even Pete. They were written poorly. Erica and Jimmy has become a filler, sadly. Lex's was interesting till S7, now I wonder if there is still a "Lex Luthor". The thing about TV series is they deal with different writers and directors all the time. So we don't get the consistency of a big screen movie production.

Kristin is a terrific actress! She's the most versatile out of the actresses on the show.

She can play the girl next door, the vixen, badass, she can be funny. And their all convincing. She has the most expressive face and eyes out of the cast.

I think she's the strongest actress, next comes Allison and ED the weakest. I can't judge LV , because she hasn't been given any challenging scenes yet.

I think KK is a great actress, too, but the thing is AM is SOOOOOO much better that she shines far and away above the rest.

Yeah, they're all taking direction from the script and directors; one hopes the actors, who have been doing the parts long enough, have some input into what they feel the character would do/say, but as far as Chloe...I think despite her having a thing for Jimmy, it's Clark she's in love with. Knowing that Clark just doesn't respond the same way has to make her very conflicted. If she was in a relationship where the guy is in love with her as much as she is with him, I think we'd see a different Chloe. She loves Clark, she likes Jimmy.

Either way, the interaction of TW and AM always brings a smile to the true Chlarker...the chemistry goes way beyond the periodic table of the elements!

I completey disagree of coarse. I think that Chloe and Jimmy have great chemsitry and Jimmy seems to be the one person that makes Chloe happy and put a smile on her face despite her feelings for Clark whatever they might be. In fact she was completely heartbroken when they broke up and hurt when jimmy started to show some interest in Kara so I think she more than like Jimmy she actually loves him.

I think KK and AM are equally excellent. I found KK particularly impressive last season, actually.

I think I read once where Allison said the kissing/romance stuff was the hardest for her to do... it made her uncomfortable.

But I think she pulls it off well. Chimmy doesn't make me cringe at all. *shrug*

It's not molten lava hot. But it's hot in a better way, a more lasting way. Jimmy is so thoughtful and caring toward Chloe and that's so hot. I think the scene in Wither really illustrates that well. Chloe articulates how she's feeling and Jimmy listens and supports her 100% and she's like DAMN! That's hot!

It's the whole nice guy hotness.

So I guess I see where you're coming from delovely but I disagree.

Clana on the other hand has often made me cringe. I won't go so far as to blame the acting... but... *shudders*

When Bizarro put his hand in Lana's hair at the end of the last episode... that was kinda hot.

I think Allison does romantic scenes amazingly! She is very passionate and heartfelt in those serious moments. The only thing I can kind of see that agrees with your idea is, when it comes to kissing...it's not as intense as it could be. I mean...she always works it, but the kisses seem tight mouthed and a little tense. Maybe it's just me seeing that? Dont get me wrong....she definitely sells it through her facial expressions and the emotions she portrays on her face. I just think the kisses could be a little more passionate.

I'm not sure what I mean...haha. I dont want the old Lana kisses either though...where she gives people tongue baths. I just noticed in this episode...she always seems to be tight when she kisses?? Hmmm....just an observation.

AM plays it so "real" and that's how chloe came across, very "real". she doesn't play it like KK's lana - up on a pink princess pillar. you can't have chloe's character all of a sudden be all lovey-dovey.
