torchwood will air on BBCA from the 26th January. No air date set for britain but it will either be a few weeks/days earlier
UK Date will be announced around three weeks before it airs. I would guess from that airdate we're looking at 16th or 23rd January. Could be the 9th, don't think it'll be the 2nd as they'd have announced it as part of the Christmas schedule, which they didn't.
Remember, the series is being promoted to first-air on BBC2 this year so will inevitably take the Heroes slot - which I guess is due to finish before Christmas?

Well, as long as we get it before the states, I don't care. On principle, I'd raise merry hell if they got it first when it was our money that paid for it.

i think its very clever considering by new year there will be little original material on due to the strike- very good timing for BBC america especially as it has an established fan base from series one

Are you saying that the U.S. domestic audience is more important than the U.K domestic audience to the BBC? I mean...British Broadcasting Corporation and all. Because personal I don't think they should really be targeting viewing figures in the USA before fulfilling their mandate anyway. In fact I don't think America should even be a consideration to their viewing figures, in much the same way as we aren't to the US.
The BBC don't care about ratings anyway, do they? Part of their charter and all that.
We already pander to the states enough with TW and DW, making the episode lengths "American Friendly". It's about time we demanded full hours...

Agreed! I'd say "Down with the Americans!" But Craig wants me to behave, so Yay! Americans! But yes, according to their charter, they aren't meant to take ratings into consideration, but I suppose the fact that they now gross profit from DVD and merchandising from shows that are paid for by the British public and don't pay a single sodding penny back despite the extortionate cost of the TV licence speaks volumes really, doesn't it.
I keep saying it mate. Michael Grade was the death toll for a lot of things.

 Well its only fair that the UK get it first since it is produced there. Thats like the US airing SV in the UK first, wouldnt make sense.

i think the point is that the US will see it after the UK -FACT because of the license fee. Its just how long it will take to get to america. The BBC has been very clever about this. In order to cut down on US downloads AND considering there will be less original material on US screens in the new year they will get it very soon after us. They hope more people will drift in when their regular show is off air and get hooked.

i wish it was like the torchwood deal! we are a year behind with smallville :( and therefore have to download
We don't "have to" - it's a personal choice. I saw S6 when E4 aired it.
Then quickly got bored of S6 because I was watching S7 "another way", but that's by the by ;)

I just go for the third option - Buy all the TV series on DVD. I've even started buying them on HD-DVD. None of that Blu-Ray rubbish for me, although I am jealous that close encounters of the third kind is a bluray exclusive.
But I do see your point.Fortunately most of the shows airing that night in the continental USA are couriered to me to watch at my own pace if I'm really that bothered about them, which right now happens to be chuck, journeyman, heroes and smallville. But to be fair, I usually get mailed smallville because said friends are sadists and enjoy hearing me weep.

grumple. The CBC doesn't seem to have series 2 on their schedule! And the TW timeslot is being replaced with a new canadian show MVP which is the secret lives of Hockey Wives. That just does not sound good at all!
I have a feeling some of us Canadians may have to wait until summer. sniff.
Oh don't worry, there are other ways... ;)

Sadly not for me :(.
Of course there is. DVDs will be out before summer, import them - 3 episodes a time.
