I kind of liked getting to know some people in the past countdowns so I was wondering:
How long have y'all been Superman fans?
I have since I was little and my big brother owned a comic book shop. I used to hang out there and read the superman comics. I also had a secret crush on Robin (shhh! don't tell hehe). I used my allowance money to collect them around the time when they did the doomsday series.
I've been hooked on every incarnation ever since, although I haven't picked up a comic book in years I think I will when I'm done school and reading isn't such a forced chore for classes.

I've been a fan since I was little as well, I've always enjoyed anything to do with superheroes, and Superman has always been one of my favorites.
I was never a hardcore comic book fan, but I have read a few and enjoy them.
I actually lost interest in Superman for a little bit, but the debut of Smallville changed that. I sat down, watched the pilot and my love for everything Superman was rekindled. :)

i liked superman when i was younger. THen grew out of it really... lol.
Then i got myself addicted to smallville a few years ago because i was channel surfing and saw John Schneider. I use to be a big Dukes of Hazzard fan when i was a kid and desided to watch the episode.. I found it interesting and intriging but i was lost coming in so late in the game. So i bought season one on DVD and watched it in a matter of a week LOL.. then i bought all the seasons till i caught up to where they were. (season or 5 i think). Then i started reading up alot of Superman stuff too. SO thats my little story. :)

I've also seen all the movies, some of the animated series, thanks to the kiddies, and all of Smallville. I kinda like this show, though I started to make company to the older teenage one and because it was Superman related.
I'm rather interested by the dichotomy that Jor-El is made to be in this show. :confused:I'm in the air as to whom he really is or what he really wants. Maybe that's an evolving Kryptonian AI, similar to that of Brainiac, that is supposed to show Clark how much his father changed during his life, because that AI behavior has changed a lot throughout the seasons. From the typical uncaring and xenophobic Kryptonian to the man who thanked Martha for being a great light in Clark's life or some such. Now he's trying to Yoda Clark with all the Jedi passionless serenity talk at the end of Kara. I really liked that scene, but it's for another thread. This paragraph was all off topic and I apologize. I'm a newbie after all. Forgive me if this truly belongs somewhere else. I can edit to remove it.
First post on a forum. I'm rather clueless though I did read the general guidelines. Oh Well. ;)

I watched the first 10 minutes of this episode and turned it off.
I have never missed an episode of Smallville in the entire series.
Maybe it's because I have a lot of work to do. Who knows. I did not even bother watching tonight..
I know people will disagree, but all this Kara/Lara/Jor-El/Zor-El stuff is so boring.
"But that's part of the mythos!!"
That's not why I watch Smallville, so I don't care.
It feels like this Kryptonian plot is going in circles. I'd rather be writing essays..

And Kara is "missing" at least to Clark she is. We know that she's in Detroit, and doesn't have a clue who she is.
That was a result of Clark breaking the blue crystal in the FOS, and "banishing" Zor-el and Lara. (back to wherever they came from)
The blue kryptonite takes Clarks powers away.

Yes Lex does know, he's the one that's "helping" him, if anything Lex does is considered helping.
The conversation that revealed he was Julian was with Lex.
It doesn't really indicate how long Lex has known. Lex does say that Grant wouldn't be anything if it wasn't for him, so I'm guessing that Lex found him, and "helped" him get to where he is (editor)
cool. do we know how long he's known?

I think they've reverted back to a "weak" Chloe again this week. Last week was the first time this season that I thought she was really her old self.
But I wouldn't say she was kicked in the teeth, she did walk in on Grant and Lois, and then confronted Lois to tell her not to get involved with her boss. But they seemed to resolve that one.
doesn't really sound weak but I miss the old chloe you're right last week was chloe back to herself, strong and confident

Hi all.. Sorry i Don't post when the episode is on because my good tv is upstairs and my computer is downstairs.
It was an ok episode actually.
One thing i found dumb was Lana trying to stand up to Zor-el.. its like ummm Are you serious?? LOL..
Kara is in Detroit as it was said and seems to not know who she is. She didnt seem to have her powers either beasue she didnt break the door when she knocked on the door for the diner. I might be wrong with that.
Grant is Julian.. That suprised the bleep out of me LOL. I didnt like Grant much but now with the subplot here it might become more interesting we will see.
Chloe walked in on Grant and Lois.. and pretty much was warning Lois about dating the boss and the posiblity of her loosing her integridy.
ummm i really gotta watch it again to make more observations..
Hope this helps some of the inquiring minds.

What's this I hear about Jor-El's punishment?
snkimmer75
11-14-2007, 09:16 PM
Yes "Grois" is still a couple, but Grant was told by Lex to stop dating her, and Lois by Chloe, so they tried to end it, but well that didn't go as planned.
So they're "staging" the end of their relationship. At the end Grant came in and yelled at Lois, and stuff, and then Chloe said that they must have had the "talk" and you would think he'd be man enough to treat her like everyone else. Then Lois' phone rings, and it's a text message from Grant, saying that he misses her already, and can't wait to see her tonight. So they aren't broke up......
As for Chloe being "weak" she just seems very insecure, which is not the Chloe that we know. That's what I mean by weak. :)
As for the punishment, that's how it ended, and it's a cliffhanger. Something was happening in the FOS though, maybe it's going to go "dead" again??
Jor-el told Clark there were consequences for disobeying him.
yeah right! what's he gonna do come down and spank him!
Poyntz
11-14-2007, 09:20 PM

Oh yes that part, the episode ended with Clark standing in the fortress asking Jor-El if he could do anything about Kara's disappearance. Jor-El tells hims that Kara's well-being is no longer their concern, he then says something like, "This is the second time you have disobeyed me Kal-El, and that does not go without consequence!" Then a big noise and a flash of light and the credits.

He disobeyed him because he said he "wouldn't turn his back on his mother." She (through the crystal) was calling him, and asking for help. At that point he didn't realize (I'm not sure how he couldn't) that it was a trap. His mother died, she's not hiding out in this crystal, that Zor-el created for Kara.

Oh sorry... um... it would explain Chloe's mom leaving age issue (from 5-12) and now this Julian is alive if Cloning was not involved. In Reckoning, Clark went back in time to save Lana... my guess.. Clark wasn't sent back in time... just sent to an Alternate Universe that with the exception of a few differences (Chloe's mom leaving/ Julian) it's virtually identical to the original one...

It's not that hard to figure out... just.. Clark in Reckoning was sent to an AU inorder to save Lana... however that AU had slightly different histories for Lex Chloe and the others... meaning any episode that looked into/ mentioned the character's back story from season 1-4 is now up for change

We DON'T actually know for certain that Julian died. We do know that Lex supposedly saw his mother smothering him, and him not breathing. But that is just Lex's "memory" of it. It could be something Lionel told him to cover the adoption.
If you're told something over and over again as a small child, you can/will suppress the original memory.
But Lionel getting Julian out of that house and putting him up for adoption, and letting Lex believe he was dead, is EXACTLY the kind of manipulation that Lionel is notorious for.

I know I was just kidding. :)
That's an interesting theory, not sure if it'll pan out.

I agree. He would do that, specially if he did believe that Lex was trying to kill Julian.

Hey! How did you like the episode the first time around Twitch?
It looks good so far, Lana's not there, but I'm kind of disappointed because we don't know what happened when she asked if he loved her no matter what.

I liked it! There were a few scenes that were "meh" but overall it was good, some big twists.

Nobody was posting so I thought I shouldn't do it, being the newbie and all. I said I was clueless.
Overall good episode. Dealt with the mythos and I generally like those.
Off course, the following is just my opinion and subject to discussion.
Zor-El: typical Kryptonian creepy person. Nothing new there.
Lara: she officially enervates me for some reason. She seems so fake. I don't know if I should blame the writers or the actress on that one. I really hope she's gone to never show up again.
Jor-El: the mystery continues. What will he do to Clark this time? Will it contradict what was said of Jor-El, the man, again? Is that AI somehow corrupted from jumping around? He seems like a personality yo-yo sometimes.
Clark: when will he learn to listen to Jor-El? Some actions he took were yes extreme, but he never faulted with the truth and honesty with Clark, except with the fake Kara ploy, but I don't think Clark would have gone to him or after the stones if Jor-El had simply asked him to. This is Clark after all we're talking about here. Wake up and dump Lana now!!!
Lana: She officially enervates me too since day one. I think I'm getting for Kristin Kreuk the same feeling I get when hearing the voice of Fran Drescher. The extreme urge to tune out, though her performance is good mostly, I just can't stand her voice on my ears anymore. It's so sad.... Why couldn't she stay dead?
Kara: poor girl, almost got choked to death by daddy dearest who she used to worship like a god and personal hero. I do feel for her and hope this amnesia plot doesn't last forever. She seemed powerless at the end and in Detroit. Oh well. We've been there, done that and bought the T-shirt. This kind of plot annoys and bores the hell out of me. I'd like it done with in the next episode she's in, if possible, or the one after that at the most. I can hope, right?
Grant: he's Julian, the supposed dead Luthor brother. Come on! Though I did get thrown back by the resemblance between Rosenbaum and Cassidy, this is just.... lame. I'm sorry if I got out of line in that phrase, be free to mod me.
Lois&Grant: How old are they? Like 15? Please, that whole scene was.... I don't have another word to describe it but childish. Sorry again if I overstepped the boundaries.
Chloe: I don't know what's going on with her anymore. She just became the writers personal personality yo-yo. Not so bad as it is with Jor-El though. She seemed.... odd here.
I agree that sending Julian away was a very Lionel action. I can see it coming from him. That's his way of protecting his son. That's Lionel we're talking about. He's all about shades of gray. I love his character for that.
That's all for now.

Lionel gets the crap kicked out of him a lot for an old guy.
I just don't like Lois going for her boss that's all Twitch. It just feels so wrong.
Clark really needs to learn to fly with all these people flying all around him. Its just really inconvenient for the storyline. Anyone can just fly away from him now.

I couldn't agree more on both points.
Maybe Jor-El did something to Lionel when he became his emissary that made him more resistant. This is Smallville after all, Jor-El can make anyone do anything......

Heh good point, he's at a real disadvantage when fighting other kryptonians, which seems like all the time lately, they just fly up, up and away. :\

There is Chlo-Lo.. Chloe tells Lois, for the sake of her reputation to end it with Grant...
Grois ends to Chloe's POV... after I think Lois get another story turned down... i dunno...
but at the end.. after the supposed breakup Grant IM's her saying he can't wait for the date tonight so Grois is now a secret love affair... again... meaning Lois Lane didn't learn a thing/ isn't onto Grant

I think that's the point with Clark's not flying deal. It's a plot device to make episodes go longer when ideas run short. Since Clark can't fly after them, he has to loose time finding them through Chloe's help since their general psycho ways make them easy to find.
I feel for Lionel sometimes too. Everybody beats the crap out of him, but he's made of tougher stuff now.

Ew does he want Clark to make super babies with his cousin?
I LOVE that they had Lara see the darkness in Lana immediately. So fitting. Women are so much better at reading emotions than men.

No, she's strong with the Force. Kidding.
It was good she had that insight. Maybe I don't hate her so much? Now when will Clark get it? That's the burning question.....
Thanks for the MB explanation. That's a fitting title for Lionel.

That's a risk and a big one at that. That's why people are advised not to do it, but this is Smallville. Suspension of disbelief is a must have while watching it.
