That's just so stupid but I guess they had to work it out that way. Lana knocks her out at the Daily Planet, in "Metropolis" but the next scene we see her with Chloe at the Hospital in Smallville, a nice 3 hour drive for what looked like a pretty nasty hit to the head, anyone else think that was kinda dumb! No hospitals in Metro??

3 hour drive? It hasn't been a 3 hour drive in a long time. You can see Metropolis from the water tower in Smallville. I'd say it's at least a 15 - 20 min drive now.
It was probably a Metropolis hospital cuz she'd be put to bed emidiatly if it was in Smallville. Instead she had to wait in the waiting room to see a doctor.

Did we see the "Smallville Medical Center" sign at any point during the shot to prove it was in Smallville? Or are you just making assumptions based on the set?

No, it defitantly was the hospital in Smallville, in fact behind Chloe you and see the Smallville Medical Center sign or Initals and when Lois is trying to sneek out you can see it on the windows.
Metropolis has always been a Three hour drive, that was well established in the episode Truth in season 3. Anyone who has been watching the show since the begining knows that.

actually, we have known it was a 3 hour drive since "Whisper" in season 3.
anyways, don't even get me started on metropolis's lack of hospital. just. ugh.
but here is my theory on the distance between smallville and metropolis. Clark superspeeds back and forth between the 2 cities so often, that the sheer force of it is slowly bringing them together. soon they will be one city.

Actually the Kryptonians built a portal from Metropolis to Smallville.

Isn't everyone always taken to Smallville to go to the hospital?

No. Lex in Lexmas was transferred to a hospital in Metropolis. Chloe in Arrival was taken to a hospital in the Yukon.

What they couldn't have at least redressed the Smallville Med Center sets?
Oh man!

I'm surprised that no one from the hospital has come up to Chloe and said "wait, didn't you die here?"

You forget, it was closed during the war to prevent Zod's men from getting aid from the specialists in Metropolis that Lex is always using. Gosh, don't you pay attention? ;)

The medical centre is like that petrol station that everyone keeps turning up at (ie where Lana smashed up car #LXX or whatever it was) - some strange cosmic vortex that pulls everyone in.
Best reason I can come up with right now.

Has anyone noticed that Lois has become the girl that gets knocked out each week. I guess Lana can't take anymore hits to the head.

Yeah, you definitely see the SMC logo just before the scene goes into the hospital.
I was thinking the exact same thing too. Why would Lois get taken to Smallville hospital? I know it used to be a supposed long drive to Metropolis, but I guess the writers have shortened the distance. I try to look past things like that though.

Lois still lives in Smallville. Maybe that was the reason. They all go back and forth a lot for it to a 3 hour trip, except Clark sinse it only takes him a minute.

This is just a plothole. Even if it were 1 hour instead of three hours, or 30 minutes instead of three hours, or 10 minutes instead of three hours, from the Metropolis city limit to the Smallville city limit, Lois would still be taken to one of the many Metropolis hospitals, not the Smallville Medical Center.
I don't think this is an issue with them ignoring the three hour drive (which would obviously be trouble for Chloe, who works in Metropolis and lives in Smallville, lol). This is just ignoring... well, everything. There is no reason why Lois would be taken to Smallville to have her injuries treated.

SV Med Center has a frequent visitor card. Lois just wanted to catch up with the number of times Lana's been there so she could win the prize :p
And btw....where the F was the cut on Lois' head when she was waiting for a doctor? All we saw by then was a pack she was holding on her arm, other than that (to paraphrase Warren Zevon) her hair was perfect.

Apparently, chronic cranial trauma is a prerequisite to being Clark's girlfriend. Doesn't say much for Clark
I noticed in Noir that Lionel had Lana airlifted to specialists in Smallville. Maybe all the best doctors go there because they get so much business! Plus the opportunities to publish research on meteor freaks.

When I saw this I'm like ok way go to Smallville when hurt in Metropolis. Lana went to Metropolis hosptial when she had that crash on Cyborg. Maybe they don't have they set anymore.

No hospitals in Metro?? IMHO the answer is "painfully' obvious - Lois's HMO will not cover emergency visits to a Metroplis hospital - perhaps due to her residence in Smallville ? (has it ever been shown that either Lois and Chloe have ever moved away from Smallville ?)

Maybe her HMO doesn't cover visits to Metropolis hospitals and the Smallville Medical Center was the closest hospital that was on her plan AND she (or the Daily Planet) didn't want to pay the $500 deductible for using an out-of-network hospital...
Weird, (gotta love the U.S. healthcare system :p ) but in theory that could happen!
Short real-life answer is of course, not enough moolah in the budget for another set and they couldn't disguise it with the gawd-awful floor tiles and "Trick this house" wall paint.
Edit: bobwayney beat me to the thought by mere minutes! lol

She was in an Emergency Room at the hospital, no one is forced to supply payment before being treated.
Besides, the since the incident happened at a place of business, before anyone was billed the details would have to be figured out.
And I do love my U.S. health care.

Just before Lana let go of Grant, she smacked his head against the wall. After which we see him with eyes closed, slipping to the floor. So why didn't he go to the hospital? Or did he get immediate treatment in Metropolis which got him back on his feet before Lois made the 3 hour trip?

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. Also that she was pretty alert and she was admitted. Just a major blooper.

I did say it was a weird way to do it (not to mention convoluted, illogical, ridiculous, etc), but I was trying to find any reason to justify it; otherwise the logic of treating a head trauma patient who got knocked out and shipping her off to another center hours away is downright bad writing. Even the dumbest ER intern knows a blow serious enough to knock a person out has to be monitored for concussion and not sent out.
Anyone else notice that the Smallville Medical Center is extremely busy for a medical center of a small town? I've seen the Boston VA less crowded than that. There are docs, patients, and lab techs always running around (Except when head trauma patients are trying to escape of course).

yes!, actually, the only reason why the b**ch of lana knocked Lois is because lana had Clark´s powers, in a normal fight Lois would have been kicked the poor lana´s ass and clean the floor with her face.:p it´s like Clark would have been used his powers against a normal human being.:o :)

The hospital where I worked (Security) is in a small town of between 17,000 to 19,000 (oddly the population signs on each end of town don't match) is very busy most of the time, the hospital in the nearest town which is twice the size of ours (both town and hospital) is usually more than three times as busy, and folks from that town come here because the wait time is a fraction of what it is there. And it is about an hour drive from there to here.

The SMC is the only hospital you can leave in a gown with your a** showing and no one will notice.
