Yes, the FOS is supposed to be a home for Kal-El on Earth similiar to Krpyon so all of Krypton looks like the FOS in some degree. It was an awesome scene. So majestic with the red.

That was great. W/ the lighting and effects, it didn't even really seem like they were just using another set.

it was the opening scene. there is something that looks to be exploding and we get a closer look and it looks like the fortress but then we see 2 people kara and zor el and they are talking about how krypton is going to be destroyed and how kara has to go to earth and follow kal el. then kara wakes up and she was sleeping in the air and almost gets hit by a plane.

probably and moved some stuff around. probably would cost too much to make aanother set just for krypton.

Look at your question more closely. You'll find it contains its own answer.

Kandor is the capital city on the planet Krypton.

No, Kryptonopolis is the capital of Krypton(at least in one comic)

Kandor was the former capital of Krypton until Brainiac stole and shrunk it (in the comics), then Kryptonopolis became the capital of Krypton after its disappearance/destruction.

You dare challenge my comic knowledge??
Besides, we're talking about the TV show here, right?

That's just the custom on Earth. Same way in Western countries you put would put "Las Vegas, Nevada, USA" on your mail, whereas in China you would put, "China, Beijing," on your mail. On Earth, you'd probably call yourself an American before an Earthling. Maybe on Krypton there is only a single world government, and people consider themselves part of a planetary society first and foremost. That's a pretty simple explanation.

Yes, but I don't think the TV show has ever mentioned any city as being the capitol of Krypton. Until they do, we don't have enough info to hazard a guess as to what capital they'd choose.
My guess/hope is we will never hear the name "Kryptonopolis" on SV. It is super-goofy. If they want to make the capital Kandor, I'm fine with that.

Kandor got shrunk and put in a bottle.

And the only way to get in is a portal inside the Phantom Zone.

It was one of the powers required to write Superman comics for a long while.

Right, Kandor is the city that Kara and Zor-El are living in on Krypton. Does the current Supergirl version in the comics from Kandor? Because traditionally she has been from Argo City from what people have been saying. I have never read a Supergirl comic, just seeing her depicted in cartoons and that horrid movie lol.

Supergirl comics have been retconned nearly ad infinitum over time. At one point she was a blob of protoplasm from a parallel universe. I am pretty sure that in the current mythology, she is Kal-el's cousin from Krypton. I don't know what city she hails from in the modern comics.
