I must have missed something last episode.
What the hell were they talking about?
Since when was there a treasure map, leading to gold?
I missed the part before the credits.. did that explain it?

The last scene before the credits was the first Lex/Kara scene. She said he was full of crap.
The gold stash has to be gold kryptonite.

That makes sense. Since the gold has been there for a while (100's of years), than that would rule out Nam-Ek, who some people thought would be returning. The Gold Kryptonite I would assume would take away abilities, as I think I remember reading that's what it does in some versions of the comics.

having gold k would also make sense seeing as in persona theres an alien... could be kryptonian.. whose powers are gone... just a thought

Yes, I believe it is a reference to gold kryptonite. But as you noticed, there was no gold or gold kryptonite where the map lead to. This makes me believe that the 'stranded' kryptonian destroyed it after he realized what it did. The "SOS" Kara referred to was to let other Kryptonians know that they had one of their own on earth that was in trouble.
Perhaps the 'stranded kryptonian' will be related to Clark and Kara, like a grandfather or something. They will find him a few days before he dies I would guess. Just the right amount of time to learn somethings and have more questions as well.

this was the real reason for this episode, to start the lost kryptonian arc, the gold part was maybe a human exaggeration as the gold that took away the powers of this alien would have been transformed in oral tradition into gold bars, could this have been the real reason Clark and Lara were sent to earth in order to rescue someone lost, it is not a surprise that kryptonians come to Smallville of all places after some outer-space legend and this is why now and only now do the characters start to explore the fact that kryptonians live a lot longer than humans so that the concept becomes canon in Smallville...

Sorry, I meant I missed the scene just before the opening credits.
When did this treasure map come up? The first time I heard it was when Clark was talking about how the girls must have been looking for the map.

But it's been established that Clark was sent to Earth so he could survive Krypton;s destruction. That is not in question. Kara was sent after Kal-El to watch over him although why her father sent her off into the void without explaining that Krypton was about to be destroyed makes no sense. In the comics, there were other, earlier Kryptonians who came to Earth, such as Var-El who was one of Clark's ancestors and who conducted secret experiments in a cave in the Rockies which were forbidden on Krypton but he was drawn to his death in an energy/dimensional accident.
So...the lost Kryptonian deal could be interesting or it could suck if they don't follow through and go back to more Clark moping over Lana the perfect princess, which is how most seasons go wrong at some point. If this Kryptonian is still alive on Earth it would tend to indicate Kryptonians live long even without their powers, wouldn't it?

they have been sent to earth to escape the destruction of krypton that is true but why each time smallville, there must be nicer places even jor-el visited this town
if all that was to find the missing kryptonian? he must be important...
