View Full Version : So Proud of OUR Superman.

I just have to mention that I'm really proud of Clark. First he acts really mature and Superman like in the premere. He tells MM off, is proud of his humanity and defeats Bizarro with brains and muscle. Now, not only does he show real adult growth towards Kara and helps her deal with Krypton's destruction BUT for the first time he gets to save the day because of his own smarts. Yes he ran to Chloe once again for information but she was of almost no help, he figured it out on his OWN, and he showed Kara how to use her power. He didn't need Chloe's supercomputer for once in his life. I'm so proud. No more BDA! At least so far into the season (we'll see what happens after Lana returns), he has been acting really mature.

Yep. Unfortunately, this is the m.o. with Clark on this show. One minute, he shows incredibly Superman-ish morals and behaviours, the next, he's back to leaving everything behind due to mighty Lana Lang.

Have faith people. Have faith. I still believe in him.
BTW. On a totally different note, did anybody catch the Star Wars reference? In the FOS Jor El sais, "Be aware of your feelings, they betray you..." The SW geek in me totally caught that.

Jor El said, "be aware of your feelings, they betray you.."
Obi-Wan, Vader, and Qui-Gon have said things along those lines.

Maybe I am giving the writers too much credit after two good episodes, but I like to think that in the upcoming episodes, it will become clear to ClarkMan that Lana is a master manipulator, not a criminal but flawed and that will be the beginning of the end for that relationship.

That was a nice line from Jor-El. I wonder if this somehow will apply to his relationship with Lana.

Uuuh, good catch. I haven't even thought about that (too caught up in being a SW geek :p), that could be a little foreshadowing, although I do think it was meant for Kara.

He's been amazing so far. And TW is projecting such a confident, mature image. But I really fear the return of Lana, and how thats going to drag him down. I hope this time we'll see something different.

The only thing I hated about him tonight was one quote:
"She's smarter than both of us"
That pissed me off to no end. Superman is supposed to be very intelligent. He has shown it many times. Chloe is smart, but definitely not smarter than Clark or Kara. They will be able to learn and do many things in their lives that no human in Smallville could.
BadToad

That pissed me off to no end. Superman is supposed to be very intelligent.
But he is also very humble, and would not hesitate to pay someone like Chloe a compliment like that. I don't believe it was supposed to be literal. Just an example of how much Clark respects Chloe and her intelligence. IMO

I was a litte peeved at that, but I know Clark thinks Chloe is really smart and from what we've seen so far she did hold his hand through many things. That is why I was so proud of him tonight when he figured out the ship signal on his own. Hopefully he will start thinking for himself more this season.

Thankfully the beginning of this season looks like Clark is once again the lead and not a supporting character. I think TPTB feel that this may have to be the last season and they want to transition fast just in case.

im kinda proud how much time tom is dedicating to his role of clark kent. from the pilot to the current episode, you can just see a lot of drastic changes.
physically, the man literally doubled in size compared to the puny little boy in season 1. good job to tom for putting the time in the gym for that. (gains in weightlifting is long process but the results are so much more rewarding) just look how big his guns are now!
and as an actor, this man is clearly much better than the boy i've seen in the past. good chemistry with other actors on the set, on the film.
clark is indeed growing up before our eyes.

Well, if Clark becomes a wuss in Lana's presence, it's not her fault. It's himself who couldn't get a handle on himself and take off his Lana blinders.

I'm hoping he won't this time. When he thought she was dead, he did say to Chloe, "there's other people who could get hurt".
He was actually concerned about the world, and bigger picture than just Lana.

Ah, don't say the L-word!
TBh, I've been *really* surprised at Clark's behavior and words these past two episodes. They really have been downright "Superman-ish." Although continuing that, there really hasn't been any buildup for all this, it seems out of place for me still. :/ All this talk about feelings and accepting humanity, when did he work this out? He never mentioned anything like this before when talking with Jor-El/MM/etc.
I guess you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but I have a sinking feeling all these wonderful ambitions towards heroism are gonna wilt and die when Lana comes back.

I'm really amazed with Clark right now. I see him as a flightless Superman at this point. However, he is only that way because he thinks the love of his life is dead and he is trying to move forward with his life. He finally has a grasp on who he is and what he has to do, but we all know that once LL comes back our SuperClark is going to turn back into Superwuss and the world is going to have to take a back seat.

I really am proud of Clark these past two episodes. He's been acting VERY Superman-ish. And he's finally accepted that he's both Kryptonian and human. He told MM and Chloe about accepting his Kryptonian side and then in "Kara" at the end I LOVED the part where he told Jor-El "Well these human emotions are a part of me WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!"
I seriously loved that moment. Shows how far Clark has come from the confused youngster he was in the earlier seasons.
I'm just praying that Lana doesn't wreck everything when she comes back.

I have hope. I really do. Maybe he will stay mature and maybe the Clana won't be so bad. I'm rooting for him. But if he turns into a whiny teenager when Lana comes back, than that would be definitive proof, without any doubt, that it is she who is ruining everything. If he goes back to his imature ways after she is back in the picture, I don't want to hear anything about "Lana is his love, she makes him happy" BS.

After 6 seasons we are finally seeing some evidence that Clark is actually moving towards Supes progression. Wanting to start his training was something I feared would be forgotten after Fallout. Glad to see Clark moving forward. At the the fault of echoing what many have posted earlier, the Clark that has made us all proud could all be forgotten with one uttered line when Lana returns. I hope not, but would not be surprised. I'll always be optimistic when it comes to SV.:)

I still remember in Season 6 how, despite promising Martha and himself that he'd go for the Fortress training and was still in the middle of hunting the Zoners, he was ready to propose to a "pregnant" Lana on her wedding day and even wanted her to leave Lex for himself after she'd already married. Seriously, with Lana around, Clark is NOT in the right farme of mind and forgets all other promised obligations. This is why hopefully, with Lana's very different (Albeit evolved) personality, he'll see that she's not the person he wants to be with after all. We can only pray!
And yes, Clark was very Superman-ish in this ep; all that was missing was flight and the wearing of glasses around Lois! Seeing him FINALLY step up for his training was fantastic. As was his helping with Kara.

He promised to go to the fortress training in Combat. after Promise, which he found out Lana married Lex anyway. so get the timeline right. Since then, he think hes vanquished all the phantoms so yet he hasnt really said he wasnt going to do his training, he figures he can have lana on the side and still do the training as well.

No, he promised to go through with the training in Fallout after Raya died. My timeline is right, I dunno about yours. While Martha and Clark were outside talking on the fields, he made it clear that he would go for the training as soon as all the Zoners were returned or destroyed. This was before Lex even proposed to Lana.
