I love this new season but as i was watching i was noticing how different most of them look now. It made me remember the old seasons you know when martha.johnathan and even pete was still on smallville. I miss those seasons. I don't maybe its just me but does anyone else miss them too?

I loved and am nostalgic about many past seasons, but that's no reason the show shouldn't change and grow up, be better and more exciting than it was back then. Really those old stories were very down to Earth with less happening, but charming in their own right. Now the show is full of excitement and mythos and that's a good change, IMO.
Martha will be guest starring this season, I've read, so she's not gone for good or anything.

I still think that season 1, 2, and 3 were the best...a lot of family interaction that we don't get to see anymore. Plus I enjoyed those seasons when Clark suspected that Lex was evil...but he just wanted to keep believing that he wasn't for the sake of their friendship. Clark, Lana, Chloe and Pete's high school years will always be my favorite seasons....but I really think this season will be rather interesting.

The Kent is very different without Martha. It would be nice if she could return permanently sometime later in the season. Clark could still grow up with her.

Yes, I miss the old seasons. I will always love watching the beginning seasons with Jonathon, Martha and Pete. I don't understand where the writers are going with all the changes. You can grow up and still have your parents there to see it happen. They keep saying that he needs to become superman and that can't happen with his parents there. But think about it Lionel and Martian man hunter took his parents place. So to anwer your question, yes I miss them too.

Just as you can grow up with your parents, you can grow up without your parents too. It is just a different direction, and it's helping the show itself, not just Clark, grow up and be more mature.

The show has come a long way and I do miss the old ones too. But thats what the dvds are for to sit around and watch them on a weekend.

God damn, I miss Papa kent
I do miss the old times, but if Smallville was just 7 seasons of family time and Clark facing a new meteor-rock infected person each episode ... it would get really tiring.
That's why I'm thankful for DVDs, haha. I'm glad that Smallville is changing (although I'm sad Martha isn't really there anymore), and that Clark is truly embracing his destiny ... and when I want to look back on the years when he was still naive and in high school, I can just pop in Season 2 and be happy!

As far as Superman or Smallville mythos, I have to disagree with the exception of season 5. Superman & Smallville mythos would include things like:
Fortress of Solitude (Superman; season 5)
Brainiac (Superman; season 5)
Zod (Superman; seasons 5 & 6)
Aethyr (Superman/Smallville; seasons 5 & 6)
Bizarro (seasons 6 & 7)
Eradicator (Superman; yet to be introduced)
Caves (Smallville; seasons 2 & 3)
Jor-El (Superman; season 2)
Virgil Swann (Smallville; seasons 2 & 3)
Clark's ship & octagonal key (Smallville; seasons 1 & 2)
Level 3 (Smallville; seasons 1 & 5)
Alien parasites (Smallville; season 2)
Red-k (Smallville; seasons 2 & 3 was where this was the biggest)
Black-k (Smallville; season 4)
Stones (Smallville; season 4)
Lucas (Smallville; season 2)
Lois becoming a reporter (Smallville; season 6)
Dr. Walden & him getting powers (Smallville; season 2)
Lionel killing his parents w/ Morgan Edge (Smallville; season 3)
Serum based on Clark's blood (Smallville; seasons 2 & 3)
Lionel as an oracle (Smallville; season 5)
Raya (Smallville; season 6)
I can't include people like Ollie, Bart, Victor, AC, Angel of Vengeance, or Kara since these are seperate DC entities that are not part of the Superman mythos. They may appear in this show, but their presence has at best been minimally related to the major season arcs.
If you compare total time spent on mythos related stuff, I would have to say season 2 has the most followed very closely by 3 and then season 5. The last few seasons have unfortunately been plagued with love triangles that have dominated the majority of the air time. I hope this changes this season. Clark definitely took a few steps forward, I just hope he doesn't take any backward ones anymore.

people like you are the reason i did not want to watch this show when it first aired and then by lucky chance i started four years into the show by watching the dvd's and got sucked in by the story - mythos an love triangles combined. this show is just not for comic book nerds.

People like me? Nobody forced you not to watch those first few years. IMO you missed the best years of the show.
I am NOT saying not to have love triangles. Even the seasons I loved had them. But the first three had a good balance between mythos and relationships. With the last 3, fans who are more in it for the mythos have been getting screwed. It's been far too dominated by love triangles. I was barely able to watch Wither. It was horrible. Just have a good mixup of mythos & 'ships...that's what I'm saying. For example, look at season 4. The episode with mythos (the stones) include Crusade, Run (only the parts with the map), Transference, Jinx (introduction of Mxylptlk & 33.1--not even related to stones plot), Spell, Sacred, Onyx (I'd say for the black-k and the iconic Lex being shown), Forever (only the parts with Luthors vs. Teagues), and Commencement (full of mythos). Meanwhile, the love triangles & ships ran wild in Gone, Facade, Devoted, Unsafe, Pariah, Recruit, Krypto, Lucy, Truth (most of the episode), Blank, Ageless (95% of episode) and most of Forever.
Superman is not a love story like Al & Miles are making it out Smallville to be. Sure there is a love element, but it's not supposed to be making the show's main hero act like such a moron (at best clueless) at times. There are plenty of soap operas for that. I'm tired of fans who are mostly into the 'ships acting like those of us who are in it mostly for the mythos don't count and don't deserve to see what we've been waiting all this time for. I have high expectations for this show, and guess who set those expectations...the show itself when it brilliantly introduced new ideas (like Lex & Clark becoming friends making us ponder how they become enemies) that weren't handled in the typical soap opera way (Lex & Clark becoming enemies mainly over Lana). It's not my fault they presented us with brilliantly written storylines only to pull away from that formula to give us mediocre ones with very few great ones in between. I still like this show and am interested in certain 'ship elements like how Clark & Lana will become good friends (not lovers) and how Lex & Pete become political partners and how Lex kills Lionel and what happens to Chloe from Clark's life. But after the rather large dose of season 6 ships we got, I would rather see episodes containing Clark training and stepping up to be the hero he's supposed to be and getting the airtime he deserves. I'm not the only one who had to lower my expectations from what I was used to seeing.
A good balance is what makes a great show. And now since Smallville's mythos element has been in the gutters for the last few seasons, it's time they invert the ratio to 70% mythos and 30% ships to counteract the aftertaste of season 6's ships. At least for one season. After that they can make it 50-50 or 55-45. You can't have episodes based almost all on ships and complain that Clark is a BDA. In order to portray him as a smart guy, he must be shown in action building up on his previous experiences. Not being torn down as he was so disgustingly in Promise.

Yeah I do miss the old days too. But I am enjoying how the story is unfolding. There are parts I could do without, but over all its good. But I miss the days at Smallville high...

Some of the old shows I miss. Martha Kent I don't. Her role in Clark's life was getting to be to flip flop. Give up on Lana, don't give up on Lana, Hanging out with Lionel??? Ya. If she had better plot involved and a firm stance on things then yes.

I miss the old times too!
I thought about the old times often!
Everythink was clearer and easier!
Clark and Lex wered friends! Jonathan was alieve! And Martha...already miss her. Smallville without her?
Clark need his mother. Right now, as he tought that Lana is dead.
And the friendship between Clark, Lana, Chloe and Pete!
Now Jonathan dead, Martha gone, Clark and Lana apart, Lex is bad.......
The only thing what is good is Clark and Chloes deep friendship and that Lionel is good now.
Okay and Clarks powers!
The old times have good and bad sides and the new time too.
