View Full Version : The Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) returning?

One of the rumors I've heard and been most excited about is the possibility of Peter Davison returning as the Fifth Doctor. Though I'd prefer a multi-Doc story with all of the surviving doctors, at the very least those who'd be willing to do it.

I'm torn about the "Children in Need" part of the rumor, though. I don't want him back for only 10 minutes. Unless, of course, it was a 10 minute prelude to a multi-Doctor story to come later...

What do you all think?

Peter Davison's presence might make up for the nausea that Catherine Tate may bring.

catherine tate is awesome. Its freema agyeman that shouldn't come back! As for peter davison. I don't see how the CIN episode can connect to the christmas special like it did in 2005.

the way the series is filmed may give us a clue though. They usually film in blocks of three. Now the ood episode is the last of the first block (with voyage of the damned and agatha christie) the next block in one episode and that is Rome because they are going abroad. The block after is also one episode according to doctor who magazine for 'reasons that will soon be revealed' Is this the fifth doctor episode in the main series? Will Peter play Omega?

I'm not sure catherine has staying power as a long term companion; it's interesting to note that along with davison rumours surfacing, paul macgann has said that he'd be willing to re-appear as long as he didn't have to wear a wig. So take that as you will.

paul mcgann is always asked though

yeah, but the crappy thing is, paul mcgann is always slated, but as it happens, he was probably the best thing about the 96 movie. Interesting to note it's the only british thing in the 96 movie too. lol

I admit, the first 20-30 minutes of the TV-Movie I actually loved. The Seventh Doctor in a story and a costume that for once didn't suck, a really cool looking TARDIS, decent effects... I really liked it.

Though later they even botched the cool TARDIS thing by having an Eye of Harmony in the back room, and for some reason having leaves back there. Um... okay.

yeah, eric roberts was a pretty inspired choice too

Eric Roberts was pretty awful. And I still don't think that movie made much sense. But... whatever. Paul McGann was cool, as was the stuff with McCoy.

did you know they had to remove sylvester from the set, he loved the tardis that much?

who wouldn't love that tardis. It was a cathedral basically.
There were so many damn coincidences in the story like the doctor needing the clock then seeing it on TV. How grace got infected was never clear to me. Plus a doctor who has studied MEDICINE knowing about inter dimensional PHYSICS! Surely that isn't part of her doctorate?

Apparently, on a TV show this morning Davison admitted he's done some filming for Nu Who...

I'll have to ask what that's about over beers. hehe

Wouldn't Peter Davidson be a little too old to play the fifth doctor again?

They ought to bring back doctor number 8, in a story connected with the time war.

I'd like to see some time war stuff, but sans RTD on the writing staff

I'd just like it to be sans RTD. Bring Nathan-Turner back ;)

I'm really hoping one of the things I've heard happens actually.

Now Peter Davison is the Doctor I liked the most proably in large part because I loved him in All creatures great and small. Liked the cricket outfit to. But after seeing recently the UKTV Golds Doctor Who special weekend the multi-doctor arc was awful. I wonder how the writers would pull it off this time.

I kind of write off "The Five Doctors" as a story that, like "Dimensions in Time," is a "fun bonus," but it "didn't really happen." I mean, Sarah in "School Reunion" made it sound like she hadn't seen the Doctor since "The Hand of Fear!"

But also, so much of that story is just silly. The non-appearance of Tom Baker, the really old Jamie and Zoe, a Susan who isn't surprised to see the Doctor...

I think or hope they could do it right, now.

Hopefully, without RTD :D

Excellent! I can't wait to see the full episode now. :p
I loved the clip when the two Doctors were face to face, & Doctor #5 thought our Doctor was just a fan. :rotfl:
