Rose will Return for 3 episodes?
We know she is here for one but are there more to come?

David Bowie? Untrue- the singer/actor's official site has him replying that the rumours were utter Tish and Tosh.

Ben kingsley for Davros? Debunked by david tennant at the TV choice awardsas was the joan collins/rani rumour

The arc word? this years 'bad wolf' has already been heard according to RTD in doctor who magazine. The master has said it in the finale.

Wow thats a lot and thank you for the update! I love the fact that Martha will be on Torchwood. As for DT staying the whole 4th series is awesome and RTD leaving after that. I can't image DW withough him now.

It's interesting to note that paul mcgann has said he'd be willing to appear, so it does give a possibility of a new ensemble christmas special if chris eccleston can be persuaded to come back.

As for marha being in torchwood, I'm not exactly fond of the character, so I'll reserve judgement.

i didn't like martha at all. I love donna so that should get me through. Hopefully these 5 episodes will be her last. No offence to freema who seems lovely but the character just doesn't work for me.

Actually, I would love the bird who starred in blink to be his next major companion. she was stunning...like a young burt reynolds.

and the biggest (but nicest) spoiler coming up in season 4, is that apparently we can look forward to the departure of both davies and tennant. Time will tell, but I definitely think we need a darker doctor in series 5

She'll be in the first ep. of S4.

Thanks.

I forgot to ask, will there be another 'doctor light' episode in s4?

I'm really hoping not, I mean blink was great but love and monsters was possibly the worst dr who story ever and I really don't want to see crap like that again.

KryptonSite

I thought I'd heard somewhere that the Sontarans were supposed to be the villains of "Smith and Jones," but there were some rights issues with the estate of Robert Holmes or something like that.

Doctor Who rights issues are odd. You'd think if characters were created for the particular show, there wouldn't be separate rights deals. Terry Nation's estate can keep Daleks away though, and the surviving creators of K9 are what's keeping him from recurring on Sarah Jane. Not sure I like the idea of a K9 series without a BBC/Doctor Who connection.

constantine
09-08-2007, 09:42 PM
See the thing is, old doctor who was very much a collective deal, which is probably what made it work. Of course, another factor could have been that michael grade just didn't give a crap out the series, which is why he cancelled it in the first place, and allowed the respective creators to maintain the rights over characters.

*tries to read the text speech*

Personally I think there is such a wealth of other villains, and indeed allies in doctor who, that the production staff can afford to wander away from teh current stable of bad guys they have. As loathe as I am to admit it, the Judoon were a good beginning to that.

Terry Nation was astute enough to realise that there were financial benefits in retaining rights to his characters, so you can't blame other writers for doing the same. Actually, he took the Daleks away from Doctor Who before. 1967's "Evil of the Daleks" saw the Daleks apparently wiped out in Doctor Who because Terry Nation wanted to do a TV show centred around the Daleks. However, he couldn't interest anybody in making it, so five years later, they returned to Doctor Who in "Day of the Daleks".

This wasn't the end of the idea of putting the psychotic pepperpots in a different series. The climax of the second season of Nation's space opera "Blakes 7" saw our heroes preparing to take on invaders from the Andromeda galaxy. But whilst storylines for that season were in development, there was a period when the "Andromedans" were going to be Daleks.

Incidentally, interviews with Russell T. Davies and other members of the Doctor Who production team tend to suggest that the only connection between the Judoon and the Sontarans is the superficial similarity in the design of their uniforms. However, because people look at the Judoon and think "they look a bit like Sontarans", there is an assumption that they were conceived as "pseudo-Sontarans". It seems to be the case that RTD wanted "space rhinos", and the size and shape of a rhino's head dictated the design of the helmet.

At least Donna appears to be wearing different clothes in every shot. Got a bit tired of Martha's "pineapple" hair-do and that jacket in the first half of the last series - I get that was because they all followed on from another, but still - it was like a uniform.

There's a very comprehensive round-up at http://www.doctorwhoforum.com/showpost.php?p=5410222&postcount=236 - I'm not going to copy it though, someone put a hell of a lot of work into that. (you need to be a member, but it's probably the best Dr Who board on the 'net so it's well worth it. Mods - Craig OK'd linking to that board previously on here, see him :))

i know but its a bit unnecessary. They will update that with anyone they find has a few lines. Plus they keep every single rumour no matter how ridiculous or debunked. They also include unsubstantiated rumours from members in the episode sections. I keep it to stuff with evidence or clearly label rumours. Its just too excessive.
