"Arms Alchemy." That is a fitting title. Mita and Kazuki; and others who will be introduced, I'm sure; are alchemy warriors (well, at the start Kazuki is a trainee, but we can all assume what happens through progression). This definitely feels like Rurouni Kenshin. So, if you were looking for something as mature and dark as Fullmetal Alchemist, you better look elsewhere. Other than themes and names, this is not a thing like Fullmetal Alchemist (FMA). Not just because of the bloodless violence, but where FMA took a more human approach to alchemy, Busou Renkin chooses a gadget-laden tech route. For example, the homunculus in FMA were fleshy and hominine. The homunculus in Busou Renkin? Crystalized tech monsters. While probably enjoyable in its own right, Busou Renkin is for young kids, whereas FMA catered to a more mature audience. This is bascially FMA-lite. ;)
