Is it just me or did you find it odd that Lex got arrested for murdering Lana even though the episode showed no one calling the cops on him...and the fact that if her car blew up and the cops found out whos car it was wouldn't they have found some remains of Lana in it. To me it was just like he got arrested for no reason

where is the body that will not turn out to be lana because she jumped on that postal truck.
did not make sense, guess the writers had no good idea how to keep lex in the cliffhanger.

Not only jumping the gun, but where was the investigation? What was the smoking gun that fingered Lex as Lana's killer within 20 minutes? :rolleyes:

It could just be a setup by Lionel and Lana. The whole phone call between Lana and Lioinel was staged incase Lex was listening. The cops were just to further burn into Lex's mind that Lana is dead. This will stop Lex from hunting her down.

Yeah lets face it, most of us are going with the faked death explanation so it stands to reason that lana called the cops or got someone to do it for her

Well they are putting him under arrest for her murder. He hasn't been convicted yet.

yeah but you cant just go arresting people like that, just because someone said he did it doesnt mean he can be arrested. They need some type of evidence to even arrest him, let alone put him in jail for a while...bad move on TPTB's part

While the evidence/suspicion wasn't addressed in this episode, perhaps they'll mention whatever it was in the season premier.

Or, they'll just forget about it.

I'm siding with Lana had planned this since before this episode. This timeline would feel rushed, but if not long after finding out the truth of Lex's plot she started getting things together for what she knew would be the only way to get out from under Lex.

When she went to Lionel for some answers in "Nemesis" she didn't expect to be drawn into the plot as a mole and then she had to put her plans on hold. After "Prototype" she realized Lex was watching too closely, it would have to be now or never.
Most of us are in agreement that Lana faked the whole thing, it's not too far to believe with the resources at her disposal she could plant some evidence (this alleged "Lana" doll some say is in the car). A quick anonymous tip to the police and watch the dominoes fall

I thought arresting Lex was weird as well. I think whoever helped Lana, called the cops.
(I think it was Lionel - how else would the cops know where Lex was?)

I was wondering who called the cops too. I think it might have been Lionel or Clark. I'm just happy Lex got arrested! That was too funny, for me, that was one of the best scenes.

Indeed this made no sense. But then again in the smallville world the small time sherriff can lead the army, a mysterious black craft lands and the police show up out of knowhere guns a blazin, and kryptonite can be used as noz in street races.

Either they are the worst cops EVER, or Lionel is obviously framing Lex for Lana's "death"

I think Lana planted evidence that increminated Lex. She was at the Talon, her car was parked outside of the coffee house. Why was she at the Talon? I think she planted something that would cause the police to suspect him. Afterall, Lex has cameras everywhere in his house. Lex hit her and the she said, "what are you going to do, kill me?" Hmm, I think that conversation might have been recordered or the whole scene videotaped.

I think Lionel is DEFINITELY in on it. He had to call the cops or has the cops in his pocket - maybe fake cops.

Good thinking, Clana4Life - I never thought about that but with all the security tapes in the mansion, that would be some pretty strong circumstantial evidence against Lex.

I don't know what evidence would have been planted unless it was Genevieve Teague's body stuffed in there and blow apart. Charred and shattered human body parts cannot be easily identified without DNA testing but based on an eye witness report, body parts found, and the security tapes - there would be more than enough probable cause to arrest Lex for the murder of his wife.

I doubt Lana would have been the one to call the police. Lionel had to do it. Lionel knew where Lex would be to direct the police there as well.

This wouldn't be retconning Lionel, it would simply be what they've done with Lionel all along - having him work in the backgound. He has been doing it with MM, now he's done it with MM & Lana. Just my opinion.

i just can't see lex in jail ever for anything.
it seems to me in history of superman that lex never gets caught and never does time for any of his crimes, his lawyers and his money and his blackmail have always allowed him freedom from jail.
that does not mean at times in there were moments that lex doubted himself.
i would love to see lex go to jail, but i just can't picture it you know what i mean?

I definitely can see Lex going to jail for the simple fact Lionel went to jail in the prime of his MB status. I can see another character emerging ala Genevieve Teague getting him out of jail, however. That just reekes of something Luthor...connections.

I Superman with Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher Lex had get in jail! Before Clark and Lois had get married.
Even if I would see Lex in jail for what he had done to Lana, Chloe's Mum etc. But hwi would Smallville be when he is in jail?

Lex was arrested because Lana set him up for it.

Remember the Ares DVD that Lex accused Lionel of getting from Lana? The one she broke into his briefcase for a couple of weeks back? She told Chloe she had it, pulled up the tunnel maps, and BAM! Next we see a whole slew of sherriff's and fire and EMT vehicles going right to the spot where Clark and Lex manage to escape from. And that was the last we saw of the Ares disc. Lana gave Lex the briefcase back, but we saw no disc. And Lex confronting Lionel in Phantom only confirms she never returned it.

She gave it to the US Marshall's Office and went into the Witness Protection Program. She has been wired every time she has been with Lex ever since she turned over the disc. Her Jeep exploding was a scene right out of the movie Eraser.

If you'll remember, the cops showed up when the spaceship landed in the S5 opener. No one called them and they just started firing on the Zodders. The local cops in Smallville are just trigger happy, IMHO.

Maybe they took Lex back to the station and whipped the tar out of him, huh?:)

cause at the end she said to lex "what you gonna do?...kill me?"
the way she said it seems to me like she knew she was gonna "die".
