Ha! LOIS KNEW! Before Lionel!!!
That means she wasn't fooled by the cigarette lighter, and knows a lot more about this then anyone else (not including Lana, or Lex) :D :D :D

Yeah she lied who would go home and watch it when you know they'll probably be waiting there. She was smart and went somewhere else and watched it.Also she may have known about this because maybe Oliver queen still talks to her?

Lois knows more than they've let us believe up until this point. Maybe she'll play a bigger role than we believe, possibly building up a reputation for herself in the journalism world?

She also specifically took it... the cigarette box and nothing else.
Maybe she knows even more then what we know she knows. lol.

I think she took that because it's the only thing that caught her attention. She knows that Lana doesn't smoke and it struck her attention.
But why did she bring it back to her apartment? She should have gone to a bus depot and rented a locker and left it there. That's what happened in an episode of Knight Rider where a reporter discovers the creation of Goliath and records audio tapes that he puts in a locker.

Whooooa. Now that's deep, haha.
That look on her face when she realized Lionel didn't know what she knew was priceless. I have a feeling Lois is going to have a bigger role in this than before!

Lois! She was so awesome, can't wait to see more of her journalistic skills. ED pulled of the investigative reporter so well I got goosebumps.

I would normally say that it's no big deal that she knew before him since she got her hands on it first. But I guess the big deal that everyone's making about this is that it's Lionel we're talking about and he always knows stuff like this.
I'm still not sure if he was faking about not knowing or not. My guess is that he didn't know, because why else would he open that in front of Lois than in private? Then again, he's the MB and he could have done that to get Lois' focus on Lex instead of him. That is what he's been doing all season (tricking every character and then going behind their backs to perform his master plan).

ILL - we got a glimpse of that tonight and I love it. EDLois rocks. I doubt she didn't make a copy of it. I like how she was unfazed by Lionel in her home and called him on it. Then, how she lied about nothing being on the thumbdrive. Then, her embarassment of Lionel that she knew more about what was happening than he did, prompting his veiled threat to her.
Her present day role was short but extremely important and very gratifying to those like me who want to see a more ILL showing through in EDLois.

Here is a post where I outlined all the stuff Lionel has done to each character to make sure he is undetected. We can now add Lois to that list. This is just a theory though (for now).

Lois is showing more savvy than anyone gives her credit for. She also shows some brass ones, too, like the ILL does.
XRay - I'm on board with your thinking. Lionel has sidetracked everyone's attention to Lex. What he's doing, IMHO, is "outsourcing" the Ares Project to Lex and when Lex takes the fall, Lionel will be there to pick up the pieces. That's his plan.
He's not tyring to protect Clark - he's just keeping Clark at bay through Lana. With 33.1 facilities around the world being destroyed, he needs to take action to keep Ares alive. That's what I believe. He also needs to remain close to Martha for personal reasons that go beyond his feelings for her. Between Martha and Lana, he has pretty much bottled Clark up because he's realized that they are his Achilles Heel. That's what I think.
"You're losing your grip, Paps" was the line that Lex uses on Lionel in the Noir portion of the episode. There is a deeper meaning to that, IMHO, as it applies to the story arc.

Lois was on her A-game.
I still feel like we're all being teased with her character. Are we now going to see more of the ace reporter in training? I hope she's got a really promising character arc leading into next season.

^^Nice. I wonder what the most mysterious part of his plan is about---the Kryptonian symbols (Power). And I wonder if they will show what he did with the broken dagger, Zod's blackbox, and the Luthorcorp jet that crashed near the FOS. I really think he's been to the FOS by now, and several times. I wouldn't doubt it if he has the octagonal key too. Heck, I would not be surprised if it was him who revived the FOS at the end of Fallout.

Now if she stays good at journalism, unless the writers don't do stuff like this with her, maybe we can see more Chloe/Lois investigative team-ups!

You make some great posts Deana. For the last year (season 5) that I actually got sidetracked and thought Lionel was good, I didn't think it would be possible for Perry to write a story on Lionel anymore. But once I saw him writing those symbols in Zod and hide the book containing them from Clark in Reunion & from Martha in Rage, he definitely has something he can write about. It's obvious to me that Lionel isn't good & this has been the case since Zod. You just reminded me that Perry still does have cannon fodder to aim at Lionel. And I hope they can bring him back to the show. After all he's Annette O'Toole's husband and it would be great having another adult as a regular.

I hope Perry returns before the end of the series, giving EDLois a job at the DP. Hopefully, Princess Leia has retired or returned for more cosmetic surgery and won't be back as Editor of the Planet.
Lionel is bad but I predict he won't be bad for too much longer - he'll be dead.

Id bet my bottom dollar, Lionel is good and he is still somehow related to Jor el, and thats why the FOS and Jor el in general have been "ignored".

I agree with this... he's outrun his welcome...
And as for the cigarette case: The second Lois saw it... she knew she needed it.
She definitely knows way more than we think she does.
Besides... doesn't she still work at the Inquisitor? I mean... why else would she be at the Daily Planet, dying for this story. (She tired flirting it out of the cop.) The Inquisitor is more crop circles and little green men oriented. It's a tabloid paper...
Lois is trying for the big break. She's onto a story, she knows about Lex and the Senator and I think she's going to be the one to crack it. Lois wouldn't bother with this story unless she had some sort of an edge.
I wonder if maybe she got the footage of Lex and the Senator. (Side-tracking...)
I mean, Lex and Lana would be less likely to suspect that of her than say Chloe or Clark.
Yup, I think Lois and Jimmy are going to get a big break. I dunno why... just a feeling ;)

Exposin Lexcorp was Lois`s first journalistic break in the Comics, thats how she caught Perry`s atention.
But dont worry, Lionel is a good guy, you`ll see, we havent seen the last of Jor el`s influence in him, lets not forget he can read kryptonian symbols.

I think Lionel knew that Lois probably already watched what was on the flash drive, before returning home. And after all, Lionel was waiting at her home for who knows how long, waiting for her to arrive, so most likely she went elsewhere on her way to the house.
Whether or not she backed up that video before heading home - who knows. But we'll find out by season's end, anyhow.

If Lionel was good, he would have told Clark what he was up to with those symbols instead of keeping it a complete secret.
My guess is that Lionel took the other part of the blackbox (or power source) of Brainiac and used it to revive the FOS as we saw in Fallout in an awesome plot twist. That is why I'm guessing the FOS was shown from the outside & not the inside. Or he could have stolen the "S" crystal and that segment when the FOS gets revived was some time after Clark & Martha's discussion by the flowers (where Clark had the crystal). The next episode was about 4 months after the events of Fallout (which I would place in July as that is about 6 weeks from May, when Dark Thursday was). So with or without the crystal, Lionel could have revived the FOS. If he did temporarily steal the "S" crystal and drained its energy to another vessel or tool and did the same with the other piece of Brainiac's power source, then he would have the full power of the power source that Zod had when it was whole. And this would fit in with the symbols he wrote that translated to "Power".
If I were TPTB, I wouldn't have Lex kill him in 1 shot. I would have Lex place Lionel in Summerholt, trying to find out and extract everything that Lionel knows and perhaps have him killed in the process.

:D Yes, Lois is too smart girl also intelligent, thatīs why she will be eventually Lois Lane; the future star reporter of the Daily Planet, go Lois!, and I liked Lionel too, their dinamic together was great!:D :)
All about Clark

I still think Lionel is good. And I say that because it is the perfect set-up for Lex to kill Lionel if he's good and gets in Lex's way.
As for Lois, I'm sure she viewed it before going home and tried lying to Lionel. I do however, think everyone is stretching regarding how much she knows. Everyone in journalism knew that Burke was a senator in town. I believe that is all she knew when grabing for the cigarette case knowing that Lana didn't smoke.

In my opinion Lois knows all of this stuff before it reaches the surface. She just does not admit it!
