Is it just me or is she being way to flip flop. It's good that she's getting Clark to move on but she can't have different opinions every week! New writing please!

She seriously needed to shut up in the beginning.
When it was obvious he was out fighting crime I was like "Hell yeah! Finally!!!"
and then she started to try and talk him down and I was like "If you take him off his roll and we have to wait that much linger for him to accept his destiny, I swaer to God..."
grrrr....

So does her talk about moving on mean she's going to come out of Lionel's closet?

Excellent post. Her first scene was totally OOC yet again...

That was a good point. She has been a little COMPLETLEY OFF HER ROCKER as of late.

Maybe she needs some alone-time with Lionel to ease the stress...

It seemed to me she was concerned about the fact that Clark apparently roughed the people mentioned in the newspaper up when he could have just knocked them down in one clean shot. I think the whole point of Clark "moving on" wasn't that he was serious about wanting to take a step closer to his destiny, but that he was using that to mask his anger and rage he was feeling about the Lex/Lana situation. That is why I think Martha wasn't so happy with Clark.
Ever since "Crimson" it seems Martha is paying more attention to Clark.
All about Clark

Martha was not OOC. She saw that Clark was angry and probably being too hard on the krypto freaks. The fact is Martha knew more than anyone that Clark needed to get a handle on his anger. Good Mom.

I agree completely. It's so obvious Clark being out there has nothing to do with him being voluntarily active in stopping crimes. It's to take out his anger and frustrations over the Lexana wedding, just like the way he went off the deep end when his father's watch was stolen in Vengeance. He needed to take out his anger somewhere, anger which is driven by his guilt and grief over Jonathan's death. His mother has recognized this in Vengeance as well.
I'd love it if they can show again Clark actively helping out that has nothing to do with being angry or out of guilt. He helps simply because he wants to.
Bad writing or not, inconsistent portrayal or not, on their own Clark's scenes with his mother in this episode are absolutely fantastic. It's nice for them to start out loft scene of Clark and Martha and ends it the same way. Both times Martha gave him very sensible advice, and I love how Martha pointed out to him his feelings of guilt and remorse makes all the difference in the world between him and the common killer.

Inlove_with_Chloe your avatar is awesome
Some of you might disagree but Martha is becoming repititive. We have these loft Clark/Martha scenes with Martha blurting out the exact platitude week after week about moving on.
And you know what really hurts? The writers keep telling Clark through Martha to move on but they never make him move on!

He needed to take out his anger somewhere
Anger leads to hate, and hate...to suffering.
Oh wait...wrong forum for that.

Yes, Annette's character is very flip floppy lately. Clark is Superman, he's going to try to save Lana because that's his nature. He knows something's wrong with Lana and he's going to find out what it is. That's his reporter side and friend side coming out.

Darth Kent anyone?
On the subject of Martha, she was right that what he was doing was for the wrong reasons, and maybe he was using too much force, but him taking on criminals, nothing wrong with that.

i agree martha needs to SHUTUP cause first she says fight for lana then she says don't just shut up already...when clark told martha that he thinks someone made the decision to marry lex FOR lana and he needs to find out what happened...Clark is Right in what he thinks, he knows lana wouldn't marry lex without a good reason and Marth gonna say you need to get over it I was like SHUT UP and let Clark find out....stop blockin...and she is all hype up the Luthors butt..like i thought her name was Martha KENT??? i mean she needs to STOP blockin on da Lana and Clark relationship...on da realness

i agree..one minute she's telling him he has to let her go, the next she's giving him the keys to the truck to go break up the wedding, and now back again.
i just wanna see a Martha-Lionel showdown after Martha finds out Lionel threatened Clark's life. other than that i think Martha has basically been an afterthought lately, which is too bad becuase she has been a Great character on this show.

I can understand the POV that Martha's advice changes with the situations, and where Clark's emotions are. But OTOH, I don't really like this about Martha. I want her to pick advice, and stick with it. If I was Clark, I'd be a little confused trying to figure out where my mother stood. And I don't think that ends up helping overly much.
This is where I miss Jonathan. He wasn't always right on things, but I did like his commitment to what he believed. With Martha, I'm never quite sure where she stands.
IMO, Martha has really been written poorly this season, and woefully underused.

I hate the whole follow your heart let her go flip flop of Martha I think they could have done better with her character because lately it seems she is just telling him to do the opposite of what she told him the episode before this yo-yo thing is frustrating

It is so easy for Martha to shout her platitudes from the Luthor box seats. If she's going to lecture her son then show a little loyalty! And quit oh go for it Clark one week and then time to move on the next!
