Write WGN. They are the ones that are pre-empting the game.
I am surprised as I thought that WGN had previously pre-empted an episode before, but I guess that was WPIX or KTLA.

Actually, I used my full name and phone number, just for the hell of it. I had to use a Seattle zipcode though because I was too lazy to look up a Chicago zip.
Maybe I'll get a phone call from the anchor at WGN news, Steve Sanders. "And now for some international news, it seems that WGN Chicago's decision to preempt last Thursday's episode of Smallville with basketball caused a Calgary, Alberta man to run naked through downtown Calgary in protest. Interestingly, methamphetamine was not involved and no buses or tractors were stolen. We'll keep you abreast of this developing story later tonight..."

You know these satellite companies will give you other network stations. It all depends on where they think you live.
When I moved recently I also changed my billing address for my Mom's DirecTV (that I pay for) and they screwed up and also changed the service address.

See, we don't have this problem in Canada. There is no such thing as a distant market station for the purposes of carriage. Unless it's HBO, you can pretty much subscribe to it. I get all the major American networks in all the time zones. It's nice. :D

What is wierd though, I have had the cable out a time or two, and I have a set of rabbit ears, the last time it was out (drunk driver took out the pole down the street) I tried them on the TV and it was too fuzzy, I put them on my PC TV card and it was really clear for some reason.

I get the local CW station off of the satellite for the DirecTV Tivo and over the air for the PC. At about 15 miles away from the transmitter signal strength is at 100%. Have never gotten good cable signals so just use them for internet.
Thing is, even though I have different ways of getting the CW signal, it all still has to come through the local station. :\

03-23-2007, 07:59 PM
Well, look on the bright side my fellow Chicago area people.. at least for us, with the two day delay for this episode, it means we'll have two fewer days to wait for the next new episode, compared to everyone else in the country! :p
I can feel your collective pain though. At least I had plenty of fair warning. My Tivo has Smallville set on "Season Pass", so it automatically schedules the program for recording on whatever day/hour it should turn up. Last week, when reviewing my upcoming "To Do" Tivo list, I saw the odd scheduling of Smallville/Supernatural well ahead of time. It would have been really annoying if I had just plopped down the the sofa on the evening of, expecting some fresh Smallville action, only to be blindsided by something totally unexpected, especially if I didn't care about what they were pre-empting it for!
But I do follow the Bulls, so it wasn't all that annoying to me. And for whatever it's worth.. the Bulls game was GOOD!.. last second tip shot by the exciting rookie Tyrus Thomas, after a frantic scurry for the ball (bodies diving, etc.) sorry folks. that's my more stereotypical "guy"-side coming through, which shares equal space with a more giddy schoolgirl-like mentality hidden under my reserved and nearly middle-age man exterior :D).

OK, NOW I'm PO'd!
the rebroadcast wasn't in high defintion for some reason, and as such, this episode appeared much smaller on my tv screen because there were both vertical and horizontal letterboxing bars built in to the rebroadcast.
I wonder if there is some distinction which doesn't allow them to run the program in HD if it isn't in it's normal time/day spot? Same thing happened with the Supernatural episode that followed it. I have a feeling this will be the case for every future schedule-bumping occurance, for whatever the reason may be. :(

Reminds me of our local CW station when they show their Saturday & Sunday night reruns in standard definition.
