Heroes Finale Details Leaked

Tim Kring, creator of NBC's Heroes, revealed to SCI FI Wire that the first-season finale will comprise the last three episodes of the year, will bring all of the main characters together in New York—and will ultimately result in the deaths of one or more heroes. "The whole thing converges in New York, ... and they're all there, and all of them play a role," Kring said in an interview at Wizard World in Los Angeles on March 17. "Even though some may feel like they're less significant to the final event, when you analyze it, each one had to play that role in order for the final event to be solved, and so there really was a kind of destiny quality to them coming together and having each one fulfilling [thing] and one specific role."

Kring and company are completing the final draft of the season finale script—episode number 23, called "How to Stop an Exploding Man"—which goes into production in a week and is slated to air on May 23. Meanwhile, production has begun on the previous episode, "Landslide," Kring said.

As for the deaths? All Kring will say is that people die, including main characters. "The thing is, people knew fairly early on [that they might not make it through the season]," Kring said of the cast members. "Everybody, every actor that we've spoken to. I mean, ... we've spoken about this idea, that on this show the story is king and everybody is in service of that story. It's not a star vehicle. No, the show does not live or die by any one character. And so every actor should realize that at some point their ticket might come up. It's both sad and exciting at the same time."

Kring added: "It became very important that if we were going to set up the stakes of a villain and a conspiracy, the stakes would just not be real unless there were some deaths along the way. But the one caveat is, on a show like Heroes, you may not always [stay] dead. And with our ability to go back and forth in time, you may be dead, but you may show up on the show a few more times."

The season finale will also set up the show for season two, Kring said. "There is a cliffhanger quality to some of the episode, but more in terms of what is the fate of some of our characters, as opposed to what the story is going to be," he said. "Although we do have a one, I hope, shocking sort of spoiler for what season two is going to be. A premonition of ... what we're calling volume two." Heroes, which airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, returns with the last new episodes of the season on April 23. (NBC is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.) —Patrick Lee, News Editor

How are they going to hire actors for this show in the future, if they are just going to constantly kill them off? Who is going to want to be on this show?

I think killing off the characters is what has kept us going. Admit it; you have no idea if your favorite character is save or not. You hope they are but deep down you know they could be dead on the next episode.

I hope we get flashbacks of Simone. I liked her with Peter. I just hope Peter, Hiro, Nathan, Claire, HRG, and Matt survive. We know Sylar is returning. Everyone else could die. And if either Jessica or Nikki dies, one could still be there.

Last three episodes. Is that 20-22/23, or 21-23? Cause the finale is a 2 hour finale, so is that considered one long episode or 2?

Look at 24. The only character besides Jack Bauer from season 1 is Milo Pressman. And Milo only came back in season 6. They keep changing casts yet the story is still amazing. Still I don't want some of the heroes to die

As long as the writing is good and stories do not become too convoluted, I say bring on changes. Keep a core group of heroes and change the cast around them. Wholesale changes would not be good for the story but changes made over time, 1 or two transition eps, would be better.

I completely agree, Peter is my favorite character. I would be mad if he got killed off but I would still watch the show. That is of course that they did it in a well written context.

I really don't think they'll kill off Peter. Leave him in a state of complete emotional turmoil, yes. Kill? No. He's too popular for that and too powerful a character, central to everything that's going on. Plus, because Sylar's there next season they need Peter for balance. And his story potential is too good as well. Once they exhausted a character's story ability they will probably get rid of them somehow.

Although on second thoughts- he's already been dead a couple of times. So thank goodness for spontaneous regeneration! :p

I am so excited to see what the future holds for this show in general it has taken so many great qualities from shows like 24 and lost and added its own unique elements this show is nothing on tv and its potential is HUGE.
I think the Petrelli brothers are goibng to stay, i think Peter is going to end up chasing after sylar trying to defeat him once and for all throughout the next season. We are going to see him pushing himself and becoming even more distant.
Nathan is going to continue his political career and could perhaps become president and there is also the continued development of his relationship with Claire.
Matt it looks to me is going to become alot more important then everyone else thought before 'company man' i think him and HRG are going to be partners that should be really good.
Issac is the only one that doesnt have a good storyline anymore he is so out in left field, no more story for him anymore.
Nikki/Jessica, Micah, and D.L while they havent had much interaction they have planted seeds for them to jump right into the middle of it, Nikki knows Ando, and Nathan, and Matt.
So that is going to be cool.
Mohinder? I am not too interested with his storyline however he is needed as he will be the one who will continue to bring further heroes into the story.

I would like to see Matt and HRG tem up as well. They should start the counter part to The Company that HRG worked for. They could spend Volume 2 building the group with people with powers and then Volume 3 trying to destroy The Company.

Sources say that Tawny Cypress, who plays Simone, is not off the show for good. Far from it! I'm told that even though she was "killed," Simone is coming back, along with her father (Peter's patient), in the season finale. It turns out she has abilities of her own, and as my source put it, "There are people on the positive and negative side. And Simone is on the negative side." Oh, and according to another source, "Simone and her father may have some ties to some other characters that we had no idea about before." Source: Kristin on E!Online

I found out that Simone was coming back in the season finale other than Parasite. Maybe Linderman somehow brings her back.

Thanks for the link!

That's cool that she has powers of her own but I nervous about her being on the negative side. :(

Maybe her destiny is to try and lure Peter to the dark side.

Personally, I think Nathan's ultimately going to bite. I mean, think about it, now that Hiro and Ando are 5 years in the future, they're going to find out everything that happened in between. Hiro might just decide that Nathan is too much of a threat, and he might be killed off once he gets back to the present. Plus, you heard what they said, no character is safe, not even the main ones. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised that they eventually kill off Peter. My money's on Ted and Matt dying in the season finale, possibly even H.R.G.

I'm going to wait and see exactly what they meant when they said that Simone is 'on the negative side.' That could mean any of a number of things, so we'll see how that pans out.
