Lana learning and fully seeing what Clark's powers are.

She's like Chloe was in the second half of season four now. She knows but Clark doesn't know that she knows.

I did like the wine cellar scene and wonder if clark knew she was there.
I did like the MB blackmail.
I did like chloe standing up to clark , where is the man of steel.
I am actually shocked that lexana actually legally married.
Can't believe they broke that much canon.

Lana finally learning most of Clark's secret and not just accepting it and finding out that Clark pulled away from her because he wanted to protect her.

AND that she was ready to walk out on Lex and head straight for Clarky boy!!

Words cannot fully come to mind the hate I feel for this episode. The only way she could figure out his secret is to TRICK him! Of course the argument could be that he should have told her but you know it was his secret to tell and if she could not wait (and I know she waited a long time) just a little bit longer then you know what whatever. I give up. Clark and Lana you suck.

I picked ah still working on this, they're speaking English and nice to see Clark in something other then plaid.

Would a mod please fix my spelling of Promise? I feel like an idiot.

Martha and Chloe's appeals to Clark felt completely out of place. I thought it was incredibly stupid of Chloe to expect Clark of all people to save Lana from herself. That's Lana's job.

MR did an excellent job... He portrayed a totally desperate lex, just like LL said.

He would do anything... he became WEAK... He was weak in this episode and that happens when love goes to an obsession.

The episode is NOT a let down.. I did find the directing of this one to be awful and downright noobish.

Anyways... The episode established lex's PITFALL!

Its flawless...

Well done... I was expecting something else... but it filled my expectations. Now we are going to see why lex will be so evil and maybe why he becomes so cynical and downright "hackman" style. He has gone through enough pain and he needs to find some humor to at least bring ANY type of laughter into his life.

Every time a major character learns Clark's secret (ie. Pete and Chloe) the story takes a major turn or milestone. We've reached a new turn -- the cat's out of the bag! There's no more doubt in Lana's mind. Every episode will have a new lining now.

/\ good point there.

I liked that Lana finally learned a lot of Clark's secret and that Lex finally killed out of self-interest; even though it was an accident. I wish he'd have just beaten the good doctor to death rather than it being an accident though.

How did Lionel find the corpse?

One thing I really liked was the scene from Season 2 premiere: Lana dreaming about Clark saving her using the footage from the actual scene in Vortex. That was a nice bit of continuity.

As Lana learns more details about Clark, I would like to see more past footage used.

When Lex killed the doctor, I actually felt like cheering. I think I said something to the effect of "Well done, kid."

I've been WAITING and WAITING for Lex to get blood on his hands. Hopefully, once he gets over the initial remorse, he'll be more willing to do some dirty work in the future. For me, the show has grinded (ground?) to a halt narratively NOT just because Clark won't move forward, but because Lex hasn't given Clark a reason to. The show for me was and always will be about the evolution of these mortal enemies, and Lex took a (Lana-motivated, admittedly) step in that direction.

The Lionel slap was beauty. Daddy's still got some lessons to teach sonnyboy.

As for how he found out, I'd imagine the gigantic puddle of blood would be a hint.

And is anyone else becoming more and more impressed by the attempts at continuity this season? In this episode alone, we have Nell, the watch, the tornado sequence, and a callback to Chloe's discovery (almost the same setup for the reaction shot!). And the Ultrasound Nightmare sequence reminded me of Lex's "Clark Obsession" room for some reason.

Look, I get the frustration many of you feel. It isn't what we wanted, but it's what we got, and I think despite all of the neverending Clanangst it moved some things forward. Inches only, maybe, but forward. And I'm satisfied with that...because my expectations for Smallville have been lowered. (It's the only way I'm enjoying the show at this point.)

1. Lionel slapping Lex and telling him how Lana has made a desperate man out of him. (About time someone pointed the obvious out to him Geezz)
2. Clark's proposal to Shelby. (Much needed comic relief after the whole epi being so angsty and dramatic)
3. The wine cellar scene (even though Clark's dialog was changed a bit the second time we heard it in Lana's point of view living that day. (Yes there IS a difference between "you don't know me that well" and "you really never knew me" when it is suppossed to be the same exact conversation we were all hearing for the second time. Ahh!...sorry that slip up just bigs me.)

How did Lionel find the corpse?

He found the good doctors corpse because he eavesdropped on Lex's telephone call he recieved as daddy Lionel was leaving his office and daddy followed son to see where he was going and what he was doing.
He also overheard that there is something funky with Lana's pgcy, which, BTW, on the sonogram it showed a fetus with enough detail to be at least 5 or 6 months into the pgcy yet she is still not showing??? That I have a problem with. As small as she is she should be way showing by now.

Anyway, that pet peeve aside...I do agree that I am pleased with the fact that now she finally knows the better part of Clarks secret just not that he is a confirmed alien (in her mind).
An added bonus, the look on her face after Daddy does what he does and she realizes that she REALLY has married into a family of monsters. Priceless. Sometimes I dislike her sometimes I like her, last night I liked her and her deciding to protect Clark after all these years of him protecting her.
I did, however, HATE seeing Clark so vunerable and sad, it broke my heart.
Oh and I agree what what someone had previously said, that he is definitely looking very buff going towards what he will eventually become. His bicepts & chest size were huge.
Hello salty goodness, to borrow a phrase from the Buffyverse :D

Lana finding out Clark's secret.
Lionel showing his true colours.
Lex growing into the evil Lex Luthor.
Some shots of Shelby!
The return of Nell.
Lana putting herself on hold to protect Clark, like he's done so many times for her.
Clark putting Chloe in her place in terms of Lana.
The fact that we got to see 3 different views instead of just one general view.
Lana being sneaky and "trapping" Chloe in the winecellar.
Clark realizing he had to step in and confront Lana about the marriage.
Lionel showing his intelligence/sneakiness and finding out about Lex's murder.
Clark and Martha talking about Johnathon.
Clark and Martha holding hands with Johnathon's watch inbetween them - as if he was there.
Lana being late for the wedding.
Lana not showing up to meet Clark, just because it's ironic since he did that to her so many times before.
Lana's and Clark's faces as Lana left the wedding with Lex.

I can't think of anything else right now.

It's canon that Lex has been married and divorced lots of times. It's also canon that Lana married Pete.

So I don't have a problem with the idea that Lana married Lex (they dated on the Superman Animated series).

I think Lana's a far more interesting character when she's with Lex anyway. It gives her a bit of an edge, and I hope now that the marriage has been forced, that she won't revert back to the damsel in distress.

The Lionel/Lana scene was really good, mainly because I love watching evil Lionel. I also liked the Lex/Lionel scene at the end. I enjoyed the second cellar scene as well. The scene did play well with cutting to Lana's reactions, even though many had a problem with the dialogue there between Chloe and Clark.

I vote for Lana that she found out Clark's secret!
But I also loved the scene between Clark and Shelby!
And as Lana told Clark that she do not want to marry Lex anymore and as she kissed him!!!
But after all the stress and painful things in this episode is one thing which is important:
Lana was ready to start a new life with Clark and she was ready to leave Lex! That mean that she loves Clark more than Lex! A thing which I always knew!!!!
I loved the Clana scene's!!!!!
What a part of TRUE LOVE they have!!!!
It was sad, amazing and painful but we saw the truely love between Clark and Lana and that was amazing!

I love the intro no words just music
I love the fact that for the first time in a long time I felt for Lana , what a heroic deed to marry Lex in order to safe Clark.

I loved the way Michael Rosenbaum managed to porrtay a vulnarable Lex Luthor. Who in his vularability makes huge mistakes. He thinks that his marriage with Lana will save him from turning (more)evil but she's his achilles heel.

I love the Way that Tom Welling portrayed a Clark Kent who starts the episode as a teenager and end it as a man. A adult man who has taken an ENORMOUS blow but who is still standing. That's the stuff heroes and supermen are made of!!!!!
I love the subtle self mockery in his expression in the scene were he is throwing the bales of hay.
I love the way he delivered the frase 'I was waiting for you" and the expression on his face when Lex got in the car and drove off with Lana .......heartbreaking.
And all this time no trace of melodrama.

I love the fact that I have no idea what Lionel is up to. Is he a good guy with a plan? Is he a bad guy with a plan.
He can't be all good though because he has been a terrible father to Lex and is partly to blame for the creation of this monster.

I love the fact that I have no clue about basically anything. I hope the writers will keep surprising me.

I loved the irony in the song heavenly day (beautiful song btw) played at the end.
It almost made me cry and believe you me I' m not the crying type.

Lionel manipulating Lana into marrying Lex. Outstanding!
"Would you bet Clark's life on that?" Man, that guy is so cold it gives me chills.
I want to be happy about Lana finally finding out Clark's secret, but c'mon! How could she wait this long to be told the truth and then suddenly decide to take matters into her own hands? Maybe Lana and Lex are better suited for eachother than I thought...
