Chapter 1- “Meeting”
The handcuffs made a quick snap as they wrapped around his wrist. One of the policeman used extra force to put him into a jail cell. “Accidentally” pushing him to the ground and letting him slide and hit the brick wall.
Peter fell on his side, and looked up at the angry policemen. They both gave him death glares.
“I DIDN’T KILL HER!” he shouted. They shut the door, and walked off. Peter moved his back up, and leaned against the grimy walls of prison. It was just a square box that sealed him in. There was a tiny window, but it was unreachable… it had several shiny bars and touched the ceiling. It let out a soft glow of white light.
Aren’t they supposed to take off the handcuffs? Vengeful cops…
What was he going to do? He blinked, eyes adjusting. There wasn’t another person with powers around, none that he could absorb. Nothing that would let him out of this. And, now he had the death of a young girl on his name. He would be a fugitive. In a week they’d probably have him right back here.
He was counting on Nathan. And, he didn’t want to count on Nathan.
Through the thick, tangible air of the prison, a small sob was heard. He tilted his head, and saw that from across his cell was a blonde woman. She was crying into her knees, and rocking back and forth. Peter felt a ping of concern, but suddenly pushed it aside. Whoever she was, she was a murder. Unless she’s innocent. Like me
He slowly got up, trying to remain in balance without the use of his hands. He walked up to the cell door. He estimated that her cell was a few feet away, enough to communicate.
“Are you okay?” he asked softly. She looked up, and promptly ignored him. Suddenly her demeanor changed, and she stood up and gazed at him with hatred. He shuddered, and regretted trying to help. She is a murder!
“What’s it to you?” she asked icily.
“Oh- nothing…” he stammered. She folded her arms and scrutinized him; he noticed a hint of something behind this tough exterior. How had she gone from crying one minute, to challenging him the next? Well. It is prison… he concluded.
“Who are you?”
“Peter… Petrelli…”
She looked away, and returned to her bed. “Figures.”
“What? Do you know my brother?”
“GUARD!” she called. Peter looked at her stunned, and saw a guard come by. He looked from her to the other. He smirked.
“Yes, Sanders?”
“This prisoner keeps trying to hassle me.” She complained. Peter’s eyes widened. WHAT? he glared at her.
“Oh shut up, Nikki. Like a care.” The guard said, then moved his sleeve back and showed a bit string of bruises.
Then he smirked again, “Or are you Jessica?” It was a direct taunt.
“I am.” She continued, “Perhaps you should be a bit more… careful…”
The guard looked a bit frightened and hurried out the door.
Peter turned away from Nikki, or Jessica, or whoever the crazy lunatic thought she was, and lay down on his own bed. He moved his legs to stretch and gazed up at the boring ceiling. How did she know his brother? Peter wondered when his brother would come and bring his lawyers.
Suddenly more crying caught him off guard. What the… he looked up and saw her crying again. Did she have a mental disorder or something?
“Please… do you know if your brother is coming?” she asked, desperately. Peter looked at her, she had changed completely. Maybe she have a multiple personality disorder.
“First. Tell me how you know him?” he asked.
She stood up and leaned against the cell door.
“I meet him in Las Vegas. I bumped into him in the lobby… and we talked for awhile… and things… just went… well. I guess. We’re not very close though. It’s stupid of me, but I’m sort of hoping he’ll help me.”
Peter walked over to his cell door and gave her a smile. It was a warm one that just slipped.
“I don’t know if he’ll help me either. I wish I could tell you.”
There was a long pause; the girl seemed to be debating something- or possibly someone in her mind. Weird expressions crossed her face. Then one of hopelessness.
“I’m stupid for asking,” she said, with a deep sadness. Then she turned around and faced her own cell wall. Peter took a deep breath. The rumors about the blonde girl from Las Vegas filled his thoughts.

Chapter 2- “Friends?”
Nikki was alone. Somehow, ever since DL had left, she had become this hallow shell. One that just kept walking, and hoping everything would end up well. Now hope was gone. DL was cleared of his charges and he could watch after Micah. But Micah was all she had. The one thing she fought for, and he was her heart.
More tears slid down. STOP CRYING. Stop being weak! exclaimed Jessica. She shook her head with remorse, and looked at the kind prisoner. He had a nice face, and black hair. He gave her a warm smile.
“I don’t know if he’ll help me either. I wish I could tell you.” He told her. She had always hoped someone would try and help her. And maybe he was this person. She was unsure. You have to help yourself, Nikki. She yelled back at Jessica in her thoughts: Yes! Because the stripping was just for my own amusement- right? I AM DOING MY BEST. I did your best. You NEVER do.
She felt all her hope drain from her, she can’t just rely on some stranger or his brother.
“I’m stupid for asking,” she told Peter. The weight of the situation crumbled onto her. She heard him take a sharp breath and could see him thinking about something.
“Do you believe in forgiveness?” he asked, out of the blue.
“Part of me does.” Yes, her part. Jessica wasn’t so good with the forgiveness.
“Well, um, what if it’s family?” She turned around to face him. He was asking her normally, but with some struggle. Jessica thought he looked cute when he struggled. He gave a nervous little smile. She smiled happily; it’d been forever since she had just thought a guy was cute. DL was sexy, but not cute. Oh, and you can bet the boys who paid her cash online weren’t great at just being ‘cute’.
“Does this involve your brother?” she asked, relaxing a bit. Talking about him would be a nice change from talking to Jessica.
“Well, yeah. He doesn’t believe anything I say… and he just- I have to take all these hits for him. You know? I can’t trust him, and for some reason I always have to suffer his faults.”
“God. I’m there with you.” She said, remembering all the things Jessica did.
He laughed, and fumbled with his handcuffs.
“Even though you don’t want to, right? You get dragged into it.”
“Exactly! And, you can’t get away from it either.” He smiled and shook his head.
“Guess not.”
“It all remains just the same.” She continued, “Even when the bruise heals.”
“My brother always undermines me too. I feel like I have a future out there. To help- or do something… it may sound conceited I guess…”
“No! If you have that feeling, that’s good.” Nikki encouraged. He beamed at this, no one had ever told him anything like that before.
“I just wish I could feel that way too.” Nikki added. He looked at her sadly, and replied,
“I bet you have a bigger future then you give yourself credit.” The news made her happy though, no one had ever told her anything like that before. This was the first time she’d been happy in a long-long time.
“You hardly know me.”
He nodded, “I just… it feels like you will.”
They both smiled at each other.
“Odd that the only person who’s ever said that to me… happens to say it while we’re in prison. What do you do?”
“I’m a nurse… you?”
Pause. So how do you tell a guy you’re an internet porn star?
“Let’s just say, it’s a secret.” She decided. He looked at her quizzically.
“You’re quite secretive. Just, could you warn me if Jessica shows up again?” he asked.
Nikki froze and looked down. Oh great.
“You’ll know when she’s here.” She replied to him.
And so it begin.
