fire is like his kryptonite. i it makes him weak and that causes to not be able to use some of his powers.

"He is highly sensitive to fire; in some stories this weakness is a physical weakness, and in others it is purely psychological. Fire can affect him much as kryptonite does Superman, making him sick, weak, and unable to use his various powers."

Fire isn't really related to Mars in anyway. As a matter of fact, the atmosphere on Mars is so thin and low on oxygen compared to Earth's, fire might not even be possible there. And Mars is a pretty cold planet, being farther away from teh sun than the Earth and all.

Maybe that's why MM is afraid of fire; he is never encountered it before, and it's too hot for a person who was born in the cold of Mars.

I like how he didn't just fall over and collapse like Clark and kryptonite, but he just tried to stay away and it made him slightly weak
