Talk about Chlark all you want! Did Clark come off as being jealous/possessive? Please don't base your selections on just the preview, since there may be more interactions between the three characters we have yet to see. :)

Haha Im not expecting alooot of jealousy on Clarks part in "Justice" but def annoyance that Chloe is actually ENJOYING Bart's flirting w her and flirting back (and yes that is sign of jealousy bc cmon he knows Chloe can take care of herself) Justice and Labyrinth are def setting up for RedK CLarks outburst on Chloe in Crimson....he's maaaaad she blew off that kiss!!!!!!!!!!
So yay for Chlark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Judging from the 12 minutes and Clark's prior experiences with guys and Chloe or Lana, I would say yes. I don't understand the jealousy, but he is always jealous when one of them gets a boyfriend or a crush or something.

I agree,I keep sayin they r the new kents cause they remind me so much of them in their interactions. And wit the tension slowly buildin up this season and even last season tptb have to take this route soon its the only ship that makes sense from what we see onscreen imo

Well his jealousy imo came out diff from what the spoilers said,I didn't get any jealousy or possessiveness in the barn scene but did get his concern because he wanted to kno why bart was around.Later in the talon tho he talks to chloe like they r a couple imo and he's jus fessin up/sorry for not lettin her in about bart. They were so cute tonight even when oliver and the boyz were suprise she knew so much she seemed happy to let him in on chlark bein so close and not keepin things.Thats jus them, they remind me so much of the kents from earlier seasons its not even funny. But I think clark's startin to come around to chloe he appreciates her more this season and I definitely like him comin clean to her at the talon.Thats when I think the jealousy cameout,he notice how she was smitten by bart earlier and I think it kicked in at tha talon.Which was the reason he was apologizin so quick,he wants to make a move imo but is alil afraid. And seein sumone hit on her brought that out sum,so I agree he seemed jealous jus not in the barn scene imo. It'll definitely be followup next week I'm bettin

And good continuity - he told Bart the same exact line when he had his 'moment' with Chloe in the Talon.
I really thought Bart was going to ask Clark when he and Chloe started dating!
I wonder if that was the cut in the final barn scene (it seemed short). They seemed to purposefully never say who her boyfriend IS just that she has one and oh yeah, she and Clark share everything. Hm.

Based on your thoughts of no jealousy what is your take on why Bart was watching Clark for several seconds after the statement about Chloe having a boyfriend? What do you think he was thinking?
To me the telling was in Barts reaction to Clark not Clarks to Bart.

I was wondering about that because in his review of it, he said it was "incessant" and that Bart just "wouldn't let up" but there were only 2 short moments/scenes where he flirted with her. So maybe some things got cut for the actual airing of the episode? *shrug* Who knows.
It'd be a good question to ask SDK.

I agree. I think the clue to that was in the pre-season promotional posters too; if every triangle has a Clark, that means we know where everyone stands but him.
But I do find the fact that they brought up such a minor point of past history and repeated the line very very interesting. After all they could of written it if it was just to be about Chart to happen without Clark there. All of the hitting on Chloe happened when Clark could see it.
It'd be a good question to ask SDK.
It really would. I suspect if we get commentaries, he'd do another one on this ep so we could hear about the whole process.
But yeah I did think from Craig's review something must of gotten clipped.

Hmmmmm, interesting. You know, I didn't even remember that he told Bart to knock it off before. But I remember feeling that he was NOT jealous back then, more like annoyed maybe. But his frozen look yesterday was quite something - I didn't expect jealousy like that... But then again, interpreting those 'empty' looks on TW's face is pretty difficult IMO. Sometimes he just looks clumsy around people. TW's a true 'miniature'-actor if he wants to be... Is that the term?

01-19-2007, 07:42 AM
I finally cast my vote and I chose the third one. I certainly do think the 1st barn scene showed Clark being a bit jealous, but from that scene alone I cannot gather whether it was jealously of a romantic kind. I'd love it if it were, but I didn't see any.

Both times the "boyfriend" was mentioned, Jimmy was never actually NAMED.
The way Bart looked over at Clark after the "before you had a BOYFRIEND" line (and it being said in somewhat of a possessive light, as I saw and heard it) made me think that Bart was thinking that Clark was referring to himself :)
The Chlark was great in "Justice" and I love that Clark hates keeping secrets enough to open up to Chloe because he knows he can trust her and rely on her to help out.
It was nice to see the trust between the two addressed at Ollie's apartment.
LOVE Chlark as partners and the trust they have with each other is VERY refreshing, contrasting the other women on the show (Lana and Lois) who have problems with secrets and aren't willing to work at being trustworthy.

Most of these characters do suffer from the only child syndrome - Lana, Lex, Clark, Pete, Chloe. While Lois is an exception, she's still included in the dysfunctional family situation as the rest - with the exception of Clark.

Lucas was a stepbrother. He had a different mother than Lex, and it was due to an extramarital affair. At the end of the episode, you see Lionel pull out a locket necklace that had a picture of him and Lucas as a boy. So you know that Lionel was aware of his presence.

I found this interesting as well. They played up how trustworthy and accepting Chloe is of Clark keeping secrets from her and how "okay" she is with it. It's definitely a stark contrast to the other women on the show.

I think you're reading too much into it. There was no need to name Jimmy because Bart wouldn't have known who the hell Jimmy is anyway. It's like when you walk into a bar and hit on a girl and she tells you she has a bf already. It would be unnecessary for her to tell you what her bf's name is.

You read my mind PRECISELY!;) I was wondering when someone was going to bring up that "touching" CHLARK moment at the Talon. At first, I was mad, because Clark was so worried about Lois going off with Ollie, but then when he tells Chloe something like maybe keeping secrets from the people you care about is not such a good idea, I practically JUMPED UP OUT OF MY SEAT when his eyes fell on CHLOE:D :D :p :p I also LOVED the fact that Chloe knew that Clark wasn't talking about Lois and Oliver anymore!:D
CHLARK is just SO PERFECT in every way! Why can't the producers/writers of the show EXPLORE their relationship more? It just makes me MAD:mad: that they are giving more OBVIOUS attention (the look of love, desire ect.) to CLOIS and CLANA  , while CHLARK is written MORE AMBIGUOUSLY! It is so hard to read Chloe and Clark's feelings for each other. I mean Clark's jealousy, protectiveness, and love for Chloe was definitely OBVIOUS (his facial expressions) in ZOD, SNEEZE, WITHER, and REUNION, but other episodes after that it is hard to read his face or Chloe's face for that matter. HOWEVER, in JUSTICE, I did think that Clark was JEALOUS of Bart's flirting. You could just hear it in the tone of his voice, and the way that Bart looked at Clark for several seconds made me think that Bart thought CHLOE was CLARK'S GIRLFRIEND:p Of course the CHLARK HUG in HYDRO was totally unexpected, especially since Clark initiated the hug. The look on his face as he was hugging her was PRICELESS; you could tell that he was sorry that he hurt her.
Sorry for going on and on, but I am really hoping for ROMANTIC CHLARK SOON!;) I think that Labryinth and Crimson will provide us with a better idea of where CHLARK is heading. Maybe they will have some bumps in the road, but if that's what it takes for BOTH of them to realize their TRUE feelings for each other, then I am all for the scrapes and bruises, because in the end, it will be WORTH THE WAIT!;)

I know Chlarkers need to find every crumb but there was nothing there. No jealously at all. That may change down the road. Outside of the season premiere Clark has shown no attraction to Chloe at all.

I disagree.
Clark's face totally froze in the first barn scene, when he told Bart to knock it off...

I'm not a Chlarker in any sense, but I do agree that he seems to have some attraction towards her and can get kind of possessive. But I don't think it's limited to Chloe...he also gets the same about Lana (though I think he's getting over it), and for Lois, too. As a Cloiser, I can still admit there's a little something between Clark and Chloe. So can you, Chlarkers, admit there's also something between Clark and Lois? I mean, when Clark barges in on Lois with the lingerie...did you see his facial expression? Priceless!
And off topic, why do you guys think Lois would have trouble keeping a secret? When she thought Ollie was Green Arrow, she told him (who was really Clark in disguise), that his secret was safe with her. I get that Lana has a "secrets and lies" issue, but I don't really see it with Lois.

I have Chlarker friends, but I have to agree. To me he wanted Bart to back off because Chloe has a boyfriend. :\

Good point.

Which I happened to think was REALLY interesting...
That is  ....suspicous thats for sure.

in some interviews a while back, i remember reading that TPTB are going to play BOTH GIRLS equally this season..(you know how they like drama)...which is why we get all the ambiguity in Chlark and Clois scenes....as much as I want Chlark (and i really really really do)...i feel like they are so ambiguous sometimes that it can go either way....
and then again..it is THEIR script so i guess they can do whatever they want (dam it!)
now, i really feel it is time to end all the teasing...all the characters are growing up, and having Clark play the game of "i'm kind of attracted to all of them, i'm kind of flirting with all of them..dont know which one to pic" is getting old...
they need to make a decision and stick with it...one of the ships may end up happy or perhaps at the end, none of the ships will be happy....anything goes in Smallville

I'm late jumping onto this thread, so pardon if the subject is in one of the many messages, but I loved the way Chloe referenced her "boyfriend" but never said the name. I kept thinking she was not referring to Jimmy! And the looks she gave Farm Boy, man is she hot or what?
The whole ep was the high point of the season so far....

I must have missed Bart's look at Clark after the "boyfriend" comment in the barn, but I didn't see romantic sparks between Chloe and Clark this ep. In some ways, by being his closest confidante, she's a lot closer than any of Clark's girlfriends could be at this moment. Their relationship is intimate, just in a different way than we usually think of that term.
That's the way I took his "lying to someone we care about" comment as well. It was more of a "you are the person I trust most in the world (outside Martha, of course), and I need to be straight with you or I might lose you as a friend and trusted helper" moment for me.
At the end, when Chloe says he has "amazing friends" and Clark turns to her and says "I sure do", I took her comment as being in awe of their powers (or in Ollie's case, gadgets) and he was just reminding her that it doesn't take those things to be a great friend. In fact, she was important in the League's first mission...just not on the front lines.
Of course, if I was Clark, I would have moved past Lana to Chloe or her va-va-voomier cousin. :) I just don't think the writers have Chlark in mind...but I could be wrong.
