I thought that the 'big bad' in this episode was going to be a Phantom. Guess I was wrong. =/

Yeah, I was too. Though, I only got half-way through the episode. I got sick, and I missed the rest of the show. I wish I could have seen the very last scene that everyone is raving about -- you know, with Lex and Level 33.1!

The episode wasn't the best, but it was, for all intents and purposes, just filler. So, for what it was it wasn't all bad. And, the last 10 minutes or so salvaged the entire thing, IMO! Lex looking like pure evil and the reappearance of level 33.1. They were really smart to end it that way, with a hook to keep people waiting for January.

Yep gotta hand it to SV to put this on after the ep where TPTB said "a can't miss last 5 min". Then this week barely any if any continuity. Thats bad writing...

Haha, if anything, the last 5 minutes of Subterranean left us more breathless than Static.

I bet not all illegal aliens are as cute as Clark's little friend.
I didn't like it how Smallville tried to get into the politics of illegal immigration--it's a very complicated situation, and it's certainly not black and white like it was portrayed, i.e. you're a horrible person if you don't let someone stay here. Everybody can't move to the US, and it's not fair to the LEGAL aliens who actually take the time and effort to go through the citizenship process. But this is about Smallville, not US politics, so I won't say anymore...
yeah smallville writers are so good at cliff hangers, i don't think theres been a single episode where in the end i didn't want to know more, especially in season finales, oh boys, those are brutal!

I agree. They should keep stuff like that out of this show. If others want to do it fine (which is why I don't watch the others). They shouldn't taint this show with politics, especially of such complicated matters like immigration. This was my biggest gripe.
