I've heard that it boiled down to creative differences between Shelby and the writers.

Shelby was originally only signed for a limited number of episodes. He didn't like the way his character was being written (lack of story arcs) and when it came time to re-up for more episodes, he decided to take his career in a different direction.

um, obviously quite a few of us since many of us have posted on this and the other "where's Shelby?" threads.

I could honestly care less myself, seeing as Shelby doesn't really add anything to the show, other than continuity with S4. But for those who love Shelby and want to see him, maybe they can tell me what he really adds to the show. How does seeing Shelby help out an episode? There were three seasons pre Shelby, and the show worked just fine. In fact, the show was much better pre Shelby. The Shelby season marked the beginning of the end for Smallville in my opinion.

So is it that people just want to see continuity, dog fans in general..? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE dogs. There was a time where I actually wanted to be a vet when I was younger. But what does Shelby really add to the show? Even when he is shown, he is only on screen for a matter of seconds, with the acception of Krypto.
