It's an interesting thing because I think many cultures have a way of speaking on the streets and a way of speaking in professional settings. I have students who are not of the same ethnicity as Bow Wow; English isn't even the first language for most of them, but I have to tell them what's acceptable at school, as far as grammatically (for their language). I think more people use slang than may be willing to admit.

Anyway, as far as Bow Wow, NO NO NO! They've got better actors and characters that need more screen time. Don't waste it on Bow Wow.

Yes, it's cultural. Not racial. If you haven't been in those settings (Pete) you don't talk that way. Or when you do, you sound fake. Culture has very little to do with race- it's more about who you are around...

while I vote no on a return,I do think his appearance was better than expected.It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either,plus u gotta remember they said he was from cali.So him talkin that way made sense he was not from kansas,plus actually bow wow been down south in ATL for a few yrs now,so he talks like us.But I agree I think they way he talked in this episode was to show that he wasn't from kansas,and it wasn't bad imo.But I dont think he'll be returnin nor do I want him to replace pete.Matter of fact I dont even think pete needs to return unless its the very end imo.But naw I voted no,he wont return and he wont be takin pete's place.

Why would a (presumably) high school kid from Oakland, California be hanging around Smallville after this episode? And take over as Pete's replacement? Why - because he's black? Unless I'm mistaken, the role of Clark's best friend and confidant for all things Kryptonian is taken by Chloe.

I don't Bow Wow will ever be on the show again, this was a one time thing to boost ratings maybe get a different demographic to view the show.
Bow Wow did this to present his music to an audience that might not otherwise have heard it.

Apparently, you text message a lot. Personally, I think correct grammar & spelling is an important thing!
Kristin Kreuk (Lana) is half Chinese, & Dan (the telekinetic bowler) was definitely Asian.

Having another black actor on the show is not the same as replacing a character who also happened to be black. Pete Ross was white in the comics; but even if they just cast Sam Jones III as Pete to be more politically correct, he was the perfect Pete, & they need to bring him back! Bow Wow did a great job with his character, but his character is from California, so he's done. Cyborg (I remember him as Jett Jackson) should definitely make occassional reappearances, too, but that wouldn't be replacing Pete. Let's recognize great characters & great actors, & not worry about filling the black person "quota".

Yeah, the non-phantom from the phantom zone was a disappointment. I'm a little concerned about the WWE characters coming up in "Combat". I guess this is what happens when your network changes (CW has "Friday Night Smackdown") & you get a budget-cut.
