I KNOW I'm not the only one who found this to be funny! Lex and Lana are about to have sex while Clark is home alone playing with his ball(s).
I thought it was hilarious!

It was funny, while Lex and Lana were about to have Sex, You see Clark all pathetic bouncing around a ball in the barn. Damn, I kind of feel bad for Clark...Not!

I didn't think of that when I saw it, but it did remind me of the scene when Clark was upset after Alicia died and was throwing the ball in the barn.

I found it funny because it cut from Lex and Lana about to have sex, to the Kent barn and closed captioning said '[thumping]', and we cut to Clark throwing a baseball against a wall.:rotfl:

I thought of last week how Lex now has security cameras. If he had the tape where you couldn't see Lana, he is definately going to watch this one over again.

I kept expecting Lois to walk up (maybe still in her costume) to the barn to cheer him up but it didn't happen.
Would have been a much nicer ending if she got him to stop moping and go back into the house to catch an all night horror movie marathon on TV or something (since this was obviously the halloween themed episode for this year, with the costume ball and everything). They could have ended it with Clark smiling at her with that great smile of his saying "Sure, but you pop the pop corn. Just don't burn it."
Of course Lois would have the final line before fading to black: "Hey there are a couple meals I can fix and popcorn happens to be my specialty Smallville.":p

Prior to Clark's solo loft scene, they showed a Jimmy and Chloe moment, an Oliver and Lois moment, then a Lex and Lana moment. I think this was to show how his freinds relationships are moving on and he is still all alone.

That's not who clark is, he'd never do that.
And that scene was so sad. Lois has somebody, chloe has somebody, and lex and lana are together. Then cut to clark who's all alone.
That was the most pathetic state I've seen him in.
Which makes even more powerful of a scene I think.
Like a new sad low for clark, contrasted by everyone else together. Hell, even Martha kinda has lionel.

I too saw the easy sexual metaphor, but the scene was really moving for me too. Nice choice of music, and good edit.
Personally, I'm glad they didn't make it some ham-handed Clois barn scene. Clark as a character needs some more depth, and while more "whiny loneliness" isn't necessarily depth, what they can do with this situation has the potential of being interesting.
poor Clark, but NO! im not impressed....Lana and Lex should never be..

I liked the scene. I thought it was basically showing how Clark has to give up what he wants for the greater good, i.e. to be superman he has to give up having his own life and having the things he wants the most, which might make him sad, but he does it anyway. Kinda like Spiderman...?!
Actually its a good scene. Evil Lex, with everything, money, power, love, sex, etc. but acquiring it through lies and deceit (Lana doesn't know his true self, Luthorcorp breaks the law countless times, he gains power through blackmail, murder whatever etc.) and Clark, everything he ever wanted having slipped through his grasp, but only as a result of trying to avoid the ones he loves being harmed.....
Shows the sacrifices Clark and eventually supes must make in order to save others.......

I'm surprised they didn't have some sort of flashbacks during this, with Clark thinking of Alicia, Native American girl, and Lana, and then showing their individual present states (i.e.: 2 gravestones, and then Lana with Lex)... Would have really done the job with the song...
Plus, it would have been funny if he would have opened a little box with the red kryptonite ring in it, as if he was thinking "The hell with it"

Yeah--why don't they do that once in a while? I realize they have a budget to think about, but they COULD show a scene where Clark is down, and then just superspeeds to somewhere cool to cope with it...?
