I'm thinking about getting into an MMORPG.
I can't decide which one I want. All but one of my friends play WoW. I really love Final Fantasy, so 11 seems like an obvious choice too.
I'm not considering City of Heroes.
There's pros and cons for me in choosing either of them.
I really only want to stick to one MMORPG and I can't seem to choose one. Ultimately, the decision is mine, but I'm just looking for some feedback.
Any suggestions?

personally i hate mmorpgs b/c i don't play well with others and usually just get kicked out of guilds, but i've heard nothing but good things about WoW and i've heard that City of Heroes is great....if you started it when it first came out but now you'd have an extremely hard time catching up.

Yeah, WoW is an obvious choice. But FF11 is still nagging at me.

i love just about all things final fantasy....but i never could get into that one b/c of the mmorpg element. though everything i've seen about it is freaking awesome.

The early levels of WoW are crap according to people I talk too. I don't know anything about ffxi really, but surely there would be a free trial version for both, couldn't just try to find one of them and see which one you prefer? Oh, and if your friends play WoW just try it with their account and see if you like it...

I think I should do that, but I don't think there are free trial versions to either game.

I played FFXI for 2 years. I had my tarutaru up to level 75(cap) black mage 75 warrior(taru warrior oh ya!) 75 thief 75 ninja and a bunch of high level jobs. It was a great game, and I highly recomend it.
I played WoW for about 4 months, and though I enjoyed it, I found myself thinking about FFXI. I found myself longing for the deeper and more complex gameplay of FFXI. I found myself longing for the closer community of FFXI. I ultimately found myself playing FFXI again. :)
If your a very casual player then WoW is for you.
If you like a deep game with complex gameplay with a deep story then I highly suggest FFXI.

Oh well. I'm not getting either anymore.
I saw a review of XI on X-Play today. There's just not enough people playing it anymore.
I entertained the notion, but ultimately, I'm not able to get into MMORPGs.

So I started playing WoW the other day on my roommate's computer. He's never here, so he lets me play.
I had this dude call me a twink. I made a joke and said, "Only on the weekend."
He said, "Huh?"
And I said, "No dude, I'm not gay. I have a girlfriend. I'm not even metrosexual."
Then he said, "A twink is when you take your high level character and give all the gold and goods to a new character, you cheater."
I said, "Huh? Dude, I don't know wtf you're talking about."
He thought I was a liar. I'm seriously a newb.
