Just wondering if anyone has asked...
If Lex was the vessel, how did killing Brainiac (for the 3rd time might I add) end up releasing Zod.

Don't hurt your brain trying to follow the logic, or lack of any logic, of the writers.

i have no clue and thought the same thing. but i guess since the dagger was supposed to be used for the vessel it would have killed lex and done the same thing but zods soul wouldnt have anywhere to go but since it was used to kill brainiac or may have not killed him but anyway it opened that portal and since the vessel was alive it had somehwere to go.

it allowed brainiac to hack himself into the fortress, something he couldn't do before. Since the black crystal in Solitude was Brainiac too (allowing him to manipulate the release), he used his own programing to do it again.

It was a trick!!!! Brainiac knew Clark wouldn't kill Lex. The fact that Clark threw it at Brainiac instead, sealed his fate!!

I didn't understand that part of the show.

Was Brainiacs plan to get Clark to throw the dagger at him? thus releasing Zod?

That seems kinda iffy. How would he know Clark would use the dagger on him? Clark has killed him before, and he knows he cant die. Even Jor-El can't kill him, which Clark knows, so why would Brainiac assume he would try? 3rd time is the charm?

Did Brainiac have an original plan for getting Zod into Lex's body? I just mean, what if clark didn't throw the dagger at Brainiac?

I saw that Brainiac was making Clark to stab Lex but Clark went to kill Brainiac again 4 the 3rd time. If Clark stab Lex then Brainiac will have to get a new human vessel for Zod.

I'm little confused about this whole thing too.
Clark did say, after throwing the dagger at Brainiac, "what have I done..." That leads me to believe that Clark knew what would happen if he did exactly what he did instead of killing Lex. But then again, how did or would he know that? Jor-El was exactly descriptive when he was talking to Clark at the fortress. The writing has been like this all season long. Hope season 6 will get better.

It seems that Clark threw that dagger rather impulsively. He still clings to the notion that there's some good in Lex. Once he saw what happened to Brainaic, I think that's what made him say "What have I done?" Again, he didn't listen to Jor-El, and here are the consequences.

Also, Why would Jor-El even give Clark that dagger if it could be used to summon Zod? You would think Jor-El would of known that it could of been used in that way. Or maybe now we know where Clark gets his smarts from.

Why give Clark the dagger at all? There must of been another way Brainiac could of summoned Zod down into Lex's body.

I think it would of been better if Brainiac could of tricked clark into believing the dagger could of killed him like it did, so it would of given Clark a reason to throw it at him. Maybe plant a kryptonian note in Lionols pocket lol.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this entire plotline. It doesn't really make much sense if you think about it.

Although it's funny that Jor-El told Clark to use the knife to kill Lex, but then Brainiac seemed to know about the whole thing and taunted Clark into throwing the knife at him in order to release Zod and I still don't understand the whole thing.:p
