Wii.....WTF?! First Nintendo tries to kill themself under cover of "innovativeness" and now this?! Do they WANT a perpetual 12 year old fan base?! Don't get me wrong, I'm still a nintendo fan, but this is just ridiculous! It sounds like the console wet itself! I've been lured to the X-Box before....the green light is calling me even now....looks like I'll be getting a 360. (I was disappointed long before the name change.)

Great name. Establishes the fact that the console is Japanese and they're proud of it, not bowing into to Westerners.
It's pronounced "we", not "wee" and emphasises the fact that it's bringing gamers together. It's a title that's easily memorable for everyone, and it's just pre-pubescent little boys-esque numpties who see something funny with it.
Personally I'd rather be more mature about it and actually consider the name than make myself look like a chav.
Hell, it's not as if it wasn't all explained in the E3 press release, but I guess no-one could be bothered to read it!

I watched it live, (No need to read it), and I think they are just bonkers.

I hope they do bonk, the world would come to a standstill if no-one did.
See, a word can mean something innocent even if it doesn't initially appear to be! Wii is fine. And isn't **** or piss.

The pronunciation is different how? And the only gamer togetherness I've seen with the Wii is all of us bashing it. But, that's my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own.

 I think the name is...well, it's just not good. Revolution made it sound more...well it made it sound good. I don't like it, but I don't want to ever say- "Hey guys, let's play my Wii!!" Just my thoughts.

Erm the second "e" means you give it a harder sound, which you stop quicker. Surely you don't have to understand Welsh to understand English properly.

True, but considering our lazy American slang, we'll probably pronounce it the same.

 Okay, that's kind of funny...
Er-hem, but anyway, I've warmed up a lot more to the name "Wii" since I first heard it. I've gone back and read Nintendo's explanation for the decision behind the name several times and it really makes sense to me now. "Wii". No need to abbreviate - just "Wii". I like it.
I still would have like "Revolution" a lot better, but hey - what the hell, I'll live with "Wii." :)

Well now that the Wii's been out for a year, I think it's safe to say that the name has by no means doomed it, now did it?

I don't have a Wii-suck. Nor want one. I'll just stick with my GameCube.

As far as derogatory puns go, that is one of the weakest ones I've ever heard (followed closely by the Nintendo DipStick). And I'd criticise you more, except you said you're happy with the GameCube, which confounds me to no end.
