THE WHOLE "SAW" RIP-OFF WAS LUDICROUS BUT THE THREE LEADS DID A GREAT JOB. MARTHA'S EMOTION FOR LIONEL AND PROTECTING HER SON WAS AWESOME. CLARK FINALLY CONFRONTING LIONEL WAS ALSO COOL. THE BEST SCENE IN THE EPISODE WAS WHEN CLARK STOPPED THE ELEVATOR AND THE BACK AND FORTH LOOKS HE GAVE BETWEEN MARTHA AND LIONEL. LIONEL WAS REALLY GOOD AT BEING LIKEABLE EVEN THOUGH HE IS A BASTARD.

No question....these three were at their finest in this episode!

And it should only get better with each!

A very good episode even though I cringed at the SAW similarities. However, it was better than last week's Tom Welling directing debut because that episode was sooo cheesy.

I must say that Mercy is the best episode of Season 5 so far.

I noticed this, too. John Glover glows in any scene he does; Annette isn't always given a lot of dramatic scenes, but since Pa Kent's been gone, she has really had a chance to shine (not to say I don't miss Pa Kent).

The one that surprised me the most was Tom. Tom is good, but he seems to be an actor that does worse or better depending on the director. Well, he was at his best this episode.

The confrontation with Lionel at the end...Tom was fantastic. When he looked Lionel straight in the eye and told him to stay away from Ma--I almost got chills. Very well done.
