View Full Version : Who should have been behind the mask?

I did enjoy this episode. My only complaint is that the person behind the mask was not a character we were familiar with. I kept thinking what a great twist it would have been to have had some past or main character revealed as the culprit behind the mask.

Wouldn't have been a shock if say it was Sheriff Ethan coming back to finish what he set out to do in Season 2!

Who do you think should have been behind the mask?

Morgan Edge, especially after talking about Lionel killing his parents.

I honestly thought it was going to be Gabe Sullivan.

Hahahaha - that would have been awesome. Gabe returns only to get sent to prison, leaving Chloe to fend for herself - well she already does that now!

I thought it would be Lex behind that mask.

^^^ Me too. I thought some references from his "conversations" with Lionel hinted towards that. Not to mention his "One thing you always taught me.." comment...That kinda made me weary of Lex's possible SAW tendency...

you read my mind. I just knew they were gonna take it back to S3. Needless to say I was disappointed when it turned out to be just a guy with bad teeth.

 lol!! So did I. I was seriously hoping it would be Gabe. As soon as you saw the guy in the office at the beginning you thought, "Hello, Mr. Killer!" But imagine if it was Gabe, how much of shocker that would have been.

Who do you think should have been behind the mask? Ethan? What an excellent idea! Man, that would have been so much better! Morgan edge would have been good too, or even helen Bryce! (Now THAT'S a twist!)

What about that guy Lionel fired in Nocturne before he hired Martha? "Never lose your grasp of the obvious".

Helen Bryce's beef is with Lex, not Lionel.

Well, she still loved lex, but she loved money more. Maybe she blames Lionel more instilling her sense of greed or something. I didn't say she was the best suggestion, just better than "Lincoln Cole"

Who's Lincoln Cole? Is that the guy from Nocturne or was that guy's name Tad? I was just kidding about that guy (he's too obscure). The reason I wouldn't think it was Helen Bryce is because I think they would save her for a Lex-centric episode.

Some other good candidates would have been:

-Earl Jenkins
-Byron from Nocturne
-Lucas Luthor
-Dr. Hamilton (notice his body was gone when Lex & Lionel arrived before any cops did in Duplicity)

I would love to see Hamilton back. I think it would have been great having Lex protect him and put him on his payroll again.

LEX! If the creators were going to rip-off "Saw" than at least work the episode out so that LEX does something really evil.

Hamilton would be good, since he's still around in the comics.

It should've been Pete!! The next game could've been musical chairs featuring the "Metropolis Mix."

Domenic Sanatori. After Suspect, he had good reason to kill Lionel.

I was thinking either Ethan or Dominic. I had just watched Suspect last night and this was killing me. (pun) But I knew it had to be gap tooth, after Lionel's comment of hot dogs.

I thought the same thing. THe episode was very good other than the fact it reference "saw" but still I loved it. It would have been better if yes we knew the person behind the mask. At first I thought it was Lex, but it could have been Morgan Edge or one of the other meteor freaks/ That would have been way better.

Here's a theory - What if Lex was really behind the mask? Everything was recorded before hand and then he paid the dude at the end to pull the trigger so to speak.

In other words it was another test to find out the truth about Clark. Notice how Lex just happened to be at a monitor watching them at the end?

Exactly. Lex was behind the mask. The dude behind the mask talked just like Lex. Notice how Lex told Lionel that it was his fault.

I think that the MONEY behind the crazy man came from Lex.

It couldn't be recorded beforehand, because the man had actual conversations with Lionel.

But I like the idea that this was another one of Lex's tests for Clark. That would explain why Martha was grabbed. And it would explain why Lex knew that Clark was across town in less than a minute. If it is another test from Lex, he's getting more and more ruthless.

Definitely Gabe Sullivan..I mean come on. We didn't even know who this guy was before this episode. There is all sorts of people that TPTB could've brought back, showering us long time fans with some sort of season to season continuity!!!!!! But, no!

Lucas. Mr. Teague. Victoria Hardwick or her father. Helen.

Shelby. The writers have been lacking in Shelby's character development.

No guys no. It had to be a no body just like that from the Apex company. This explained so well Lionel's recent dealings, i.e. how did he get back into luthorcorp, where's he getting his money, his relation to Lex and how he was trying to take back Luthorcorp. The foundation of the story was this no body from Apex, Failed Takeover remember? Besides, it was good, it shows that its really Lionel, no matter if Jor-el is swimming around somewhere in his head.

Good points.

I can't help but wish Lex was behind it, though, taking advantage of what Lionel had done.

Now I'm torn... :D

I was going to say Pete but you beat me to it. Instead of water filling the box Martha was in it could have been cream corn. And the riddle would have been about his dad losing the cream corn factory. That would have been great.

Level 33.1 perhaps? I hope they bring that arc back next season.

Yes, Sir Harry Hardwick would have been another good one. Adam Knight would have been good as well, but he died. It would have been cool if that final vial of serum he took was able to fix him to a point where he would continuously go in a cycle of being very sick to healthy.

Edgar from Transference was another good one. I think Ethan would have been the best. You could see how badly Lionel screwed him in Suspect.

Henry Small. Lionel had to suffer for being the only one that doesn't love Lana (and Martha for pulling Clark away from her).

I really though it was Morgan Edge. That guy was freaking awesome addition to the show. It was one of my favourite storylines.
Imagine my face when I saw this tech /or security?!/ guy behind the mask...well I was REALLY dissapointed to see him but anyway - the episode was awesome.

hmm iwas doubtimng but i thought it would be cool if it was Lex. Since it was hes son and "you thaught me"

Lex playing a little game would have been cool. And i wouldnt mind if he kills Lionel. Sometimes i just want to jump in the TV and kill him myself. :/

I figured it was Gap-Tooth but i still had my hopes up for Sheriff Ethan or even Lucas or Morgan Edge.Although its never too late to bring back Pete or even Helen Bryce. The three of them (Edge,Helen,Pete)know about Clark to a certain degree(Pete everything,Helen the blood sample,Edge his weakness). So it would be interesting if at least one of them comes back this season or next.

Emily Dinsmore since Lionel caused her an accelerated life and must have taken away Mr. Bunnybuns.

That might've been a good idea because it would've made an awesome way to reference the comic book Pete becoming a masked villian calling himself Ruin! Maybe in a future episode they could do something like that!

IF it was morgan edge it would have had kryptonite in this episode.
