View Full Version : Why the breakup sucked...
Welling Is Hot

I just realized why the breakup scene sucked between Lana and Clark. It was missing one inherent piece of the puzzle that adds power to almost every meaningful smallville episode... music! They needed something that added emotion to the scene maybe something like Grey Sky Morning by vertical horizon or Missing by Evanescence... what song would you choose?
I'd use this one.
Immortality
I make my journey through eternity
I keep the memory of you and me inside
Fulfill your destiny,
Is there within the child,
My storm will never end,
My fate is on the wind,
The king of hearts, the joker’s wild,
But we don’t say goodbye,
I’ll make them all remember me
Cos I have found a dream that must
Come true,
Every ounce of me must see it though,
But you are my only
I’m sorry I don’t have a role for love to
Play,
Hand over my heart I’ll find my way,
I will make them give to me
Immortality
There is a vision and a fire in me
I keep the memory of you and me,
Inside
And we don’t say goodbye
We don’t say goodbye
With all my love for you
And what else we may do
We don’t say, goodbye

Breaking Benjamin- Sooner Or Later
This song might be alittle hardcore for the scene but meh...

The break up scene was so critical to the season and the show itself that music wasn't needed. After all, their relationship is bulk of the show.

It was still a good scene even without music.

which is exactly what it shouldn't be

i don't think it needed music. There was enough emotional impact without it.

My favorite breakup scene (which wasn't really a breakup, but kinda) was in Forest Gump when Jenny leaves him and all you hear is silence. To me, that was heartbreaking. It symbolized an emptiness, that was once filled.

I hadn't even realized that there wasn't any music playing during that scene. Interesting...

I think the Benny Hill theme would have rocked,.

For me the break up felt very animated and done before, I mean look at me and tell me you don't love me. Hello done before on so many shows, after all we knew it was going to end, I didn't feel as saddened by it as I thought I would. I suppose the follow up episodes will show more of the grief of their breakup, just hoped it would feel more intense, I think it felt more intense when she caught him in the loft with Simone and he told her he fell in love with someone else. Oh well I am still trying to figure this show out at this point. As far as music goes I didn't realize there wasn't any playing either.

It's not that it didn't need the music, it's that the absence of any emotion was the key to bringing out more of the dry ending of their relationship in this scene.
