What's going on with the costumes in Smallville?
Well I mean Lana, Chloe, Lois, Martha Kent...they're all good. The ladies seems to have a great sense of fashion and nice clothes but what's up with the blokes?
1)Lex Luthor...ok I know it's to be expected that he'll occasionally be seen in a business suit but when he dresses casual, what's up with the long sleeves? What's Michael Rosenbaum trying to hide under those sleeves?
2)Lionel Luthor...does he ever dress casual?
And the worst dressed award goes to.....
CLARK KENT!!!
Ok like they said...what's up with the red jacket and long sleeved blue shirt or short sleeved blue shirt?
I know it's the Superman colour but in reality do you always wear the same damn outfit every so often? It's either that or the blue jacket and red shirt or the plaid.
Sometimes when he has a white t-shirt on, that's good! But come on...I know they want to chuck endless references to future Superman but an 18 yr old guy really won't wear those 3 outfits only even if he's a farmboy.

Hey, you've seen how many financial problems the Kents have had in recent years, so I think shopping for Clark is probably the last thing on Martha's mind. ;)
Hell, in "Vengeance," Martha had Clark scavenging through his dead father's bin for anything he want to keep.

I think that Martha asked Clark if he wanted any of his fathers clothing as keepsakes.

Hahahaha true. Well yeah financial problems could explain why but then again it doesn't explain why Clark keeps buying the same 3 sets of clothing (Red jacket, blue tee/ blue jacket, red tee/ plaid) after the clothes get ripped whenever he gets blown up.

Has anyone noticed that Lana is wearing the same cream-colored jacket quite a bit lately (I began to notice in Reckoning and she still had it on in Cyborg...). Did she have to sell off her clothes to pay for college?

Well with all the trucks Clark has destroyed over the years i'm surprised he dresses that wealthily...ok. I don't think thats a word. At least he's laid off the plaid the last little while.

I like seeing Clark wearing white/red/blue/yellow t-shirts ( in Exile when he didn't have the red- k ring on, and was at his loft, he was wearing a green t-shirt ) And when he's Kal- El it's a black shirt. And I don't mind his farmer shirts blue&white, red&white....:D

At least he's never been in overalls

I think that with certain character changes in Clark, ie... Kal-El, on Red-K, and what not, we need some sort of a visual change in him to go along with attitude, emotional and persona changes. Just to make sure everybody "gets" it. Hence the leather, black shirts, anything other than plaid. But I do agree with you all, he could use other primary, and perhaps secondary colors occasionally. ;)

Clark is supposed to dress like a geek. That's why he's got the flannel all the time.

Actually, the reason Clark always dresses the same way is so that tptb can reuse visual effects shots of him. Just to name a few: Hourglass, Witness, Run, Scare, and some others that I can't think of all use the shot of Clark running along the fence. Lineage and Slumber as well as Ryan and Extinction both used the same visual effects shots. So did Tempest, Lineage, and Blank. So that's why Clark always dresses the same.

IMO Lana's clothing wasn't the best either, atleast in seasons 1-3 and this season to some extent as well, and chloe has her lapses in fashoin too like in Scare.
IMO Lex only wears long sleeves cause he's self concious, cause when he lost his hair everyone started seein him as a freak and he wants to hide so he tries to cover his body up more hence he always wore long sleeves and stuff. That's my theory. Either way i think he's the best dresser on the show, he's gorgeous.

I noticed that as well. Maybe you're right.
