Writers, I beseech you to pick up the pace. It's season 5 and there's no need for all of these filler episodes. First, the bloviating between Lana and Clark on tonight's episode was painful to watch. I'm just waiting for Clark to say, look shorty it's not gonna happen. I will always love you, blah blah blah, ENOUGH ALREADY!! Martha and Lionel were the best part of the show tonight and that's not saying much. The writing is just so discombobulated, it's becoming hard to watch. I set my DVR for Smallville tonight and I actually pushed fast forward on certain parts, that ashame.

if you didn't notice by the slow down....

I think he either broke up with her before she left... or that line... "I always will love you... nothing will change that."

It's the "Nothing will change that" part.. that is usually a kiss of death to any relationship.... it's about like... "I love you, but I'm not in love with you."

ya when he said that it really really sounded like some form of 'ill always love you...in a romantic way or as a friend, but ill love you and that will never change' and I got the feeling she thought that too.

There was some ominous music playing when she walked away, like she knew something we didnt about them. But then again when you cant really figure out if your together or not and you are already referring to your past as your 'glory days'...how can you NOT see that your relationship has flatlined?

I also thought that when Clark was watching Katherine and Victor that he was thinking 'maybe someday for me' as opposed to thinking about Lana in that moment. And when they caught eyes I think they both realized what SHE was thinking about and what Clark was thinking about, were two different things. Hence Clarks confused and guilty look afterward and Lana's wishful thinking/happy memories look.

These writers don't have any clue what or how Clark feels. If they did, they wouldn't make him look the way he does. He's gone WAY past BDA to I-don't-know-what. He has meaningless conversations that go nowhere & pass nothing along the way... then it's all forgotten by the next episode. And if Lana says "tell the truth" ONE MORE TIME I'm going to ralph in my seat! ENOUGH already! Kill it! Kill it now! NO MORE!!!!!

You guys are kind of going off topic but good points. I had forgotten about that whole scene and was wondering what happened. Originally posted by Polomontana

Yeah the Clark Lana thing is very very tired. It's all been done before several times, his reluctance, her desire for the "truth". They really should have a huge breakup and maybe bring Clark a new love interest. Or just bring on the Brainiac or Lex super villainry already. The show needs new life like it appeared to be getting with Marsters before his quick exit.

I'm glad they're taking time for the break-up. It's less painful for Clana fans that way (at least for me). Just be happy it's almost over...geesh.

I agree to a certain extent...it's time for them just to fizzle out, and end. I don't even want Clana on the table anymore. Just friends. No conversations about it, no thoughts about it, just friends and leave it at that.

I'm sure she'll do great as a friend. Let her leave the show and go off with Pete Ross, and Chloe can get letters from them from time to time. She really doesn't have a purpose on the show anymore, and after last night's episode, I think she's starting to get the idea.

BTW, I loved Cyborg, so please don't take that as a criticism. I'm just done with the yo-yo thing. I was during season 3.

I was annoyed after last weeks filler of Tomb, but then we have to consider when the show comes back they'll have to gear up for sweeps. That's when we're likely to see the heavy plots, more special effects and such unleashed. Or so a boy hopes...:)

Clana was painful to watch regardless of whatever happened in that episode. I'm still a little upset with the fact that AlMiles didn't just end it in episode 100. They really should have but I digress.

The Clana in this episode was a little strange. We see a willing Clark to continue and a little reluctant Lana. Oh well.

It kind of seemed like he did break up with her. The slow-mo walk away and the look on Lana's face sure helps support that idea. Yet, it just occurred to me that perhaps Lana's expression was due to shock. All this time she has been talking about lack of spark, about lack of truth, and how she loves him so much, etc, etc...to only receive silence. Maybe she was just surprised that this time he actually said that he loved her and always will. Maybe she wasn't expecting it. (?... I could be wrong.)

It's still bothersome no matter which interpretation is correct- I mean, kiss the girl, Clark... give her a hug, or let her go...DO something! - No, he just stands there. Sometimes words just aren't enough...
