The same guy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas as Ian Randall) seems to be two-timing Lana and Chloe... unless he can be two places at once. That's not possible, is it?

Jonathan Taylor Thomas is the first of two Home Improvement guest stars this season. Zachery Ty Bryan appears in "Precipice." This episode also introduces Emanuelle Vaugier as Dr. Helen Bryce.

This episode seems to be hated by alot of people, but I think this episode is great! I thought the power Ian had of splitting himself into two different people was awesome. I also liked the scene where Lex takes the golf club and bashes the meter maids car with it because it showed Lex's temper, and it was just darn cool!

Actually, Zachary Bryan appears in "Witness"

I thought it was a good episode, because neither Chloe nor Lana wanted to believe Clark. I wonder if Clark and Ian got zapped by electricity and kryptonite, could Clark get a new power, or can Ian add a few new powers? Or maybe Clark can split himself, and Ian has his powers. Clark should get all of the freaks in one room, put kryptonite in all of their pockets, and electrocute all of them with Clark as the receiver. Think of all the power he would have.

How could Clark put Kryptonite in their pockets? Haha. :p
This wasn't one of my faves, but a decent one.
I liked how Lana and Chloe found out that Clark was telling the truth about Ian in the end, because they were really annoying!Especially Lana saying Clark was jealous.

Nice episode. I hated how Chloe and lana were somewhat MAD at clark after the fiasco!

Anyone care to comment on the Ian/Clark scenario? Ok, Clark probably could not get all of their powers, but maybe a different sort of them, and his powers are divided by the givers.

Interesting Episode. I don't really like how chloe and lana were against clark. They should've known that he was just looking out for them.

This is trully one of the greats in Season 2 and one of my all time favourites of Smallville. I thought it had a really interesting story line. A dude splitting into 2, then going after both Lana and Chloe. Clark knows the truth and tells both Lana and Chloe about it but they just shrug it off and think he is jealous. But the best bit for me in this episode was the ending. The way Lana, Chloe and Clark had that talk...it was the best. I loved it how Clark told them how they gave Ian all the leniancy in the world and thought was the jealous boyfriend...and sinse he had never dated anyone of them before. Then the way Clark proposed that they all be friends again, then Lana said 'Is that what you really want' and Clark said' Yeh...it is.' And the looks on both Lana and Chloe's face was priceless. And to top the episode it had that catchy as song from A-Ha (which i love) and it ended so freaking perfectly. No doubt this episode is a winner!! :D

Interesting that you mention the ending.
I also found it particularly interesting, as it is one of the very rare 'triangle' scenes (maybe the only one?) in which Clark, Chloe and Lana discuss their feelings together. This is particularly intersting as Chloe and Lana are getting closer (starting to live together). Clarks remark, that they never actually dated, was indeed priceless, as well as their disappointed responses. The truth is of course that they both want him for themselves, hehe... However, I actually found that Clark was particularly harsh with both of them. I actually kind of agree with Chloe and Lana that they had reason to doubt his motives, it's not the first time he would be jealous. And let's face it, CK is not the best at hiding such feelings as jealousy... After all, they met him in the end to apologize for that, he could have been a little nicer, no? Instead he goes all-confident-alpha-male on them. And the conclusion, that they would all be 'just friends'??? C'mon, that's typically SV - None of the three believed it, and neither did we... All this talk about friendship while in fact being in love with each other gets kind of annoying, yet still I keep on watching, and watching, and watching...

This episode was so much fun!

Jonathan Taylor Thomas did such a good job. He looked so boyishly handsome. His horror movie line, "We need to talk about my grade..." Or whatever... was so funny! LOL!

This episode was heavy on Chlana friendship, which really delighted me. It's a pity that they kind of threw this away. I wish this could have developed more so that Chloe and Lana would really be friends... I feel like there is this distance between them (that Lana maintains) but in this episode and a couple of episodes that follow this, Lana seems to be letting Chloe in. I really love that.

I love the romance between Lex and Dr. Helen Bryce. Very clever and funny to have them get to know each other in anger management class...

Love how a lot of the time Chloe gets to say the definitive line of the episode... "Days like this I could really use two of me." heeheehee.

Chloe has an inferiority complex when it comes to Lana and it really GETS ON MY NERVES! Though it's understandable.

When Ian (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) says, "The two prettiest, smartest girls in school. Together you're almost my equal," The expression on Lana's face just made me laugh so hard! I don't know why but I just kept on rewinding and laughing! LOL!

Great Chlana scene near the end where Lana opens up about her abandonment issues. Chloe tells her she "doesn't have to earn a place in this family." Beautiful scene. Chloe also opens up about her own abandonment issues do to her mom running out on her at age five. I wish this relationship had developed over the 5 seasons... rather than stagnating... :(

The Clark-Chloe-Lana scene at the end was very weird. And annoying...

I like that Clark stood up for himself. I like how he seemed to firmly establish friendship-only between the three of them. I love how he left with a smile on his face and a spring in his step has opposed to limping away with his tail between his legs after a stuttered apology... but then in the next few episodes it's like this stand never even happened.

I love that Chloe agrees to nothing. She just sadly looks at Clark with an expression that says I don't want to just be friends. Sadly this is Chloe's subtext for the next 3 years LOL! Lana give Clark a piercing stare and says, "Is that what you really want." As she should becuase the next episode Clark is gazing at Lana with doe eyes again.

And that's another thing I love. Chloe and Lana get to vent to Ian about their Clark woes. Chloe says he dumped her after Spring formal (not entirely true) and Lana says Clark sends out mixed signals (entirely true! and incredibly annoying) I loved all this... And I wish Lana had stayed this assertive for the next 3 years (sigh).

Good episode. :)

A cool episode, not of my favorites but I like the way in that Chloe and Lana fall for the same guy so quickly, tought I feel sorry for poor Clark who was telling the truth all along but nobody believed him :(

Chloe and Lana made a BIG mistake in trusting Ian, Clark tried to warn them, but they didn't listen. THEN, at the end of the episode, when the three of them were meeting at the Talon, Chloe and Lana tried to blame CLARK for the WHOLE THING. Watch the scene again (and focus on Lana) and you'll see. Lana said, "Clark, WE expected more from YOU." Chloe and Lana messed up, Clark did not. All Clark did was try to keep two friends from getting hurt (both physically and emotionally), and they pointed it back at him. Would it have been better if Clark had let Chloe and Lana get tossed off that bridge? He SAVES THEIR LIVES then he is in their doghouse? YO, what's THAT all about?

Lana lost a lot of points with me in this scene.

Don't forget where she says: "Well it was our mistake to make."

I love that Clark tells them both off in the final scene.

Baloney. All Clark did was try to reveal that Ian was splitting. Oh, remind me again how many times Clark has saved Lana's and Chloe's skin??? If Lana Lang was my daughter, her rear end would be black and blue right now.

This isn't like my favorite episode but I liked a few things about it

A. chloe/lana esp. the chloe lana moving in together stuff -like the earning a right to be apart of the family speech as previously quoted

B. Helen/Lex (anger management!)

C. clark actually confronting them at the end foir being so stupid

The parts that made me mad
A. Chloe/lana being so stupid and being so mean to poor clarkie poo

B. Them telling clark they expected more of him at the end and it was their mistake to make (HellO you would be DEAD)

things i dont get:
A. clark never dumped chloe
B. since ian's one half died how did it come back in asylum?

I think Ian's other half died in the deleted scenes, but not in the actual episode. (I haven't seen either in a while, though)

Not a favorite of mine but I still watch it when I watch season 2. I actually like season 2 since it introduces the cave and Clark's heritage...The end is the best part when he puts Lana and Chloe in their place. It also establishes that Clark just wants to be friends and sets up the next episode, Skinwalker. Since it is established that they are just friends, it allows Clark to become very interested in a doe eyed Native American girl even to thinking they could be destined to be together.

Deleted scene made it look like Ian's other half died. It isn't in the actual episode so it doesn't count. I guess they decided they needed the two Ian's in a future episode when Lex is in the Belle Reve asylum.

ok he officially died in the deleted scene but wouldnt u think falling off a huge cliff would kill you ? it is 98% implied he dies so i think its weird he came back, unless he can always generate a second ian

The end is perfect with the music from A-ha " I wish I cared "

Actually when my mom was at my place we saw this episode together & when she heard the song she asked " Is that Tom who's singing ? "

I was just

All in all, a pretty decent episode from an awesome season

I totally agree with you. What would have been better, though, would be for Clark to superspeed away after he smiles

I personally like Clark being the person who pieces everything together. Pete was good in the "sidekick" role as well

Lana and Chloe were both ridiculous in this episode. I hated the way they treated Clark, and the way they automatically assumed that what he claimed was impossible and that he was only suspicious of Ian out of jealousy, when he'd rescued both from crazy-jealous FOTWs several times before WHEN THEY DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM THEN EITHER!!!! You'd think they'd learn their lesson. The best parts of this episode were Clark standing up for himself and Dr. Helen Bryce making her first appearance.

My favorite two scenes:

1. Clark tells Lana and Chloe how it is (at the end), to the tune of "I Wish I Cared" by A-Ha (cool song by the way).
2. Ian goes to hit Clark with a pipe (or something) while Clark is putting Chloe down; Clark doesn't flinch, finishes putting her down carefully, and then proceeds to throw Ian several feet away.

This episode sucked. The FOTW was lame, lana and chloe were being retarted, and so was clark. The only good part was lex and helens story, but it was still lame how they met.
