Very underrated episode. The best part of this episode was when Clark goes to the Luthor Mansion and Lex swings that sword at Clark. If that wasn't a dream I'd say that this was the coolest episode ever.

I felt like this was a Freddy Krougar movie. Whenever I watch that movie I start to mock scream 'Wake up Clartk wake up wake up'

I lauhed alot durring that episode. But it was a really good episode.

i agree this did seem like a Freddy Krueger movie. i remember i had just first watched that movie weeks before i saw this episode. anyway i love this episode. the first time i saw this i was puzzled because i did not realize it was a dream, and the funny thing is after i saw the opening scene with Clark and Lana at the lake, i was like "this has got to be a dream"and it turned out it was! and the part where Lex breaks the sword over Clarks arm was cool. i like how he tells Clark about the "Katai" and then wham, hits the blade on his arm. this is one of season 3's best!

This was such a waste of an episode. No real development except for possible consequences. After Lex hit Clark his sword, I was ready for the two to actually go at then they pull the rug out from under our feet and continue to stall the invietable.

I actually liked this episode although the bit with the cloaked guy was sort of cheesy looking. I always thought the scene where Clark's driving the truck and he looks over and Sarah's beside of him and he's like, "Wait, if you're here then that must mean I'm-" and then suddenly we see the truck flying through the air, was absolutely hilarious.

Yeah I get a good laugh out of that too and then Lana actually buys in to Jonathan's excuse when they get to him

I like the beginning. It was the best nude scene in the series.

I love the ending to this episode...

Lana: I was thinking maybe we could go swimming at Crater Lake.

Clark: I really don't think skinny dipping is a good idea.

Lana: ...Who said anything about skinny dipping? Maybe in your dreams, Clark.

Clark's look during that scene was priceless.

This one didnt do much for me. It was a weaker ep of part 3. The freak of the week thing was too hokey.

OutlawAngel

I agree it was a weaker episode of Season 3 but I pretty much would say all of Season 3 episodes are good compared to really bad episodes from other seasons. Like Ageless for instance. Season 3 was a strong season so even the weaker episodes were decently good. Or atleast IMP they were

this episode, to me, was both good and bad.

The good:
the beginning at Crater Lake, Lana and Clark's talk at school about their relationship always being about angst and it being nice for them to just have some fun (ABOUT FRICKIN' TIME someone said it!), Clark's dream about Lex and the 'samurai' sword only to have it turn out to be a prop later in RL (that was good; and I loved how Lex was all long winded giving Clark a history lesson too in the dream!). All great stuff.

The bad:
the fact that the bad guy was SO obvious, Sara's dream villian (why not just call it a Ringwraith and get it over with?!), Lana being a moron and going over there and confronting the bad guy, Clark just stealing the medicine and leaving the door open (Such a BDA moment!)

So It was good and it was bad but the good moments outweigh the bad in my mind.

Episode wasent that good.

And BTW: Didnt the bad guy look like Clarks father? I mean, they look exactly the same.

I didn't think the guy looked much like Jonathan Kent, but that's just my opinion.
(Except for the plaid thing.)

Tom's father? I didn't realize anyone knew what he looked like! Unless you meant that that was what you thought Tom would look like when he is older, about his father's age? Sorry, I guess I'm confused.

I've always been a fan of dream sequences, because I myself have fallen victim to mistaking my own dreams for reality at times. It's a very surreal experience when you think about it.

This is one of my favorites from season three. i thought the red-caped guy/thingie was sort of cool looking but i think the best part of the episode was that girl's acting.

Hey is Crater lake called that because the bowl (or crater) of the lake was created by one of the meteorites? I suppose a meteorite that big though would destroy half of the Earth....

Jephael
09-05-2006, 02:33 PM
It depends on the size and proportion of the meteor. The force of the impact obviously created the crater and years of rainfall turned it into a lake.

The guy who played SARA's dad had the same hair cut as CLArk. Do you think he is wellings stunt double or something. He could pass off as welling from a distance in motion maybe like getting hit my Lex car of that bridge.

The best part was when Lex hit Clark with the so called "unbreakable sword", and for a second there I thought that was not a dream, when I watched the episode for the first time. That would of been a great way for Lex to find out Clark's secret.

What did I think of Slumber?

Although Slumber was not one of my favorite episodes of the 3rd Season, there are only 4 reasons why I liked this episode.

They are:

1) The Lex & Clark scene (in Clark's dream). I liked the transcript of Lex & Clark. Michael Rosenbaum had a great script from this episode.

Lex: See, I've always been honest with you. But it turns out you've been lying to me from the first day I laid eyes on you.

(Ironically, this is exactly what Lex tells Clark in the 4th, 5th, 6th Season of Smallville. This is part of Clark's dream, a fear that he has about Lex, trying to find out his secret).

Clark: No, Lex, I can explain.

Lex: It's too late! The irony is all you had to do was come to me, Clark. I was your friend. I would have protected your secret. I would have protected you. But I couldn't be trusted because I'm a Luthor.

Clark: No! That's not it!

Lex: I don't care! I'm going to dedicate myself to ensuring the whole world knows who Clark Kent really is. Life as you know it is over.

Clark: Lex...

2) I liked the conversation between Lana and Mrs. Kent. Lana was looking for Clark, who wasn't around, so she talks to Martha Kent, instead. This too, was a great script.

Lana: Hello?

Martha: Lana, hi. Come on in.

Lana: I was looking for Clark. I brought him a little pick-me-up.

Martha: Oh, well he's not back from Lex's, but you're welcome to wait.

Lana: Thanks. So you finally have new neighbors.

Martha: Yeah, not as good as the old ones.

Lana (laughs): Mrs. Kent, could I ask you something?

Martha: Of course, Lana.

Lana: Do you know why Clark pushed me away?

Martha: Metropolis changed Clark. He's not the same boy he was when he left this spring. Jonathan and I are trying to figure it out, too.

Lana: I guess I just -- I feel like if I stay in his orbit long enough he'll finally decide to open up.

(This is the part I like, Lana saying that if she stays in his orbit long enough. Since Clark is an alien from the planet Krypton, I thought how ironic it was that Lana mentions the word, orbit. This was a great line from Kristin Kreuk).

3) The conversation between Clark & Sara Conroy, after Sara wakes up from her coma. I'll cut the conversation short, so I'll just list my favorite lines from Clark & Sara.

Sara (to Clark): You're obviously a special guy. I saw some of the things you're able to do.

Clark: Well, in our dreams we're all super.

Sara: I know it's none of my business. I know dreams are usually private...

Clark: No. I'm curious to hear your perspective. What did you see?

Sara: Someone who's clearly in love, but who resists it. Lana, right? Clark, take it from someone who's been trapped for 6 years. If you love her that much, don't push her away.

Clark: It's a long and complicated story, Sara.

Sara: I only know what I saw. I may have been there, but... Lana's the girl of your dreams.

4) The Clark & Lana scene at the barn loft. This is my favorite part of Slumber. I'll cut it short just to show my favorite Clark & Lana lines from Slumber.

Clark (to Lana): Lana, what you did was brave. You saved Sara's life.

Lana: And it almost cost me mine. I was lucky you got there.

Clark: You believed in me when I thought I was losing my mind. It was the least I could do.

Lana: So I finally met Sara. All she could do was talk about you. I told her I'd love to switch places, you know, find out what goes on inside your head.

Clark: It's not that exciting.

Lana: Still, you know, maybe it would explain why things between us...

Clark (pointing to his head): Lana, if I had the answers up here, you'd be the first to know.

Lana: It's just the last few days, I've felt like the girl next door again. It was nice.

Clark: Lana, you'll always be the girl next door.

Lana: So, any chance we could do something this weekend? You know, as friends?

Clark: What did you have in mind?

Lana: Well, it's been like an oven outside, so I was thinking we could go swimming at Crater Lake.

Clark (embarrassed): Yeah -- I really don't think that skinny-dipping is a good idea.

Lana (laughing): Who said anything about skinny-dipping? (Lana turns around and looks at Clark). Maybe in your dreams, Clark.

(That was the funniest part of the conversation, the skinny-dipping part. Tom & Kristin are talented actors. They also know how to be comical on Smallville. And Tom and Kristin have great chemistry).

After seeing it today I thought it was a cool connection that Sarah's uncle was a follower of St. Christopher, aka "The Traveler."

In this episode we see some of Clark's secret desires in his dream:

--Lana skinny dipping with him
--Mom made a huge breakfast--eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, sweet buns, waffles & pancakes, juice
--Jonathan saying he realizes that he wasn't giving Lex a ''fair shake" and uses the money Lex gave them to surprise Clark with a beautiful new truck
--Lana at school acting the way he wishes she really was: forgiving, non-judgmental and not making a big deal out of the fact that he left her at the lake. She seemed so light-hearted and not angst ridden like she is in real life. Also, Lana telling him that she will wait as long as he wants for him to see if they should be together.

Other thoughts:
I think that Sarah Conroy, for some reason, would have been a good girlfriend for Clark. I don't know why I think that though.

The R.E.M. music in this episode is good. Saying that, I usually don't like some of the music moments in the show.

I've had pretty real dreams lately where I wake up confused because it was too real. I really liked the part where Clark & Lana were at the lake swimming. :p

This episode was ok but had some bad parts.Liked how it was a dream the entire time, liked when lex hits clark with a sword. But the plot was weak and boring
