A young man (Reynaldo Christian) touches people and they turn to dust, making him a human grim reaper. He thinks he's doing what's right by ending their suffering, but is he right? Meanwhile, Whitney's dad takes a turn for the worse.

I felt so bad for that poor doggy on here. Why did he have to kill the cute lil doggy? :(

I thought this episode was grossly UNDERRATED! This epsidsode is awesome. I love watching it to see how far the characters have come. Overall, this episode gives us more insight into Lex's twisted relationship with his dad (Lionel sends Dominic Santori to Lex, then, upon discovering Lex tied up the guy and put him in a trunk, says, "Well done,"; Lex talks about his past with his father, etc.); this episode also shows us more about Clark and his dad. The kryptonian villain was cool because he was not over-the-top, but instead, a guy who meant to do good, but his notion of "good" became a bit twisted. The ending was great, one of my favorites. For once in "Smallville", the entire ending was not sad or dramatic, but lighthearted and free as that song by Rubyhorse played, Whitney played the football game and his dad watched, Lana kissed Clark on the cheek, and the heartfelt discussions between Jonathan and Lex and Jonathan and Clark. And then the last few lines: CLARK: Dad, I know how we can catch more fish this year. JONATHAN: New lures? CLARK: X-ray vision. FUNNY STUFF

In my opinion this is one of the worst episodes of the show. While it does have some good Lex/Lionel stuff in it, the main plot was weak and the FOTW's power of dusting people is just so boring.
I was watching the episode today and I loved the ending with Whitney's father getting to see Whitney play football with the Metropolis sharks.

I actually thought that Whitney's dad was going to get better. It came as a complete shock that he died two episodes later.

Watching the episode though makes me sad becasue You had the Whitney with his dad and it reminds me what Clark is gonna have to go through with his dad. I rewatched this episode like last week and when Whitney tells Clark his father is going to be around for many years to come I kinda squenched and said 'ow' because Clark would have to go through the same thing not to many years after that.

It seems like Clark is becoming another Whitney. Now Lana is just staying with him because she feels sorry for him.

Yeah. And not only does her boyfriends usually die her boyfriends dad's, the ones that are around, seem to meet the same sad fate.
Look even Clark died after he started dating Lana. Which is sorta why Jonathan died
Am i the only one who made the connection between the dusting here and the dusting in Buffy the vampire slayer.

LuthorRequiem2. You made my point.
I laughed at the end of the episode too. :)
Great episode, even if the bad guy was a bit weird but, thats not nearly everything you need in a good episode. :)

This episode wasn't the worst or best.

I liked this episode although it could of been better. It was quite dark throughout. The music was also pretty eerie.
The end was very weak though. Kinda ruined it a little.

I loved the dusting effect. And i thought the idea of the guy coming back to life because of the kryptonite in his wrist was an interesting idea. i dont really remember this episode very much so im guessing that it was neither very good nor very bad.

I loved the ending of this episodes. One of my favorite endings. It's actually HAPPY in Smallville for a change. The music "Sparkle' by Rubyhorse is the perfect song for the mood. I love the way Lex and Jonathan have an almost father-to-son type moment, I like that Clana is angst-free at the end, and Lana gives Clark a sweet peck on the cheek, the Clark and Jonathan talk. The whole thing was great.
I also loved the Lionel and Lex scene before the ending. They actually shared a somewhat nice moment, albeit in a very twisted way (Lionel saying, "Well done," to Lex after seeing that Lex has drugged a man and packed him in the trunk of a car). :) Great episode all around.

I consider this the weakest episode on the first season, the main story and freak were awful, the only good things were the father-son storys: Jonathan/Clark, Lionel/Lex, Mr. Fordman/Whitney. Besides that...I could just skip this ep.

I thought it was a great episode. To me season one was much weaker than the rest of them. The meteor freak's talents and end result was sad and not cheesy at all compared to the others. Lex's interaction with his father was priceless.

I was watching the episode today and I loved the ending with Whitney's father getting to see Whitney play football with the Metropolis sharks.
To me, that's the only highlight of the episode.
The FOTW was bad and so was the actor who played him. Awful episode, one of the worst of the series IMO.

I was all set to write "Reaper" off as one of the worst of the Series. Thought the meteor infected Zombie euthanasia boy was THE WORST meteor infected teen of the series everything else about the episode was wonderful.
I loved hanging out with Martha and Clark as they did community service. I loved watching Chloe investigate. She said "so what" when Clark reminded her they were in a crime scene. She said who her source was. I liked Lana and Whitney's storyline and how Clark and later Lex helped out with that. I even liked the mild, well intentioned personality of euthanasia boy but oh what a horrible concept.
I was pleasantly, pleasantly surprised. This episode gets an A+ for character development. This episode reveals so much about Jonathan and Whitney. This may be the happiest Jonathan/Lex interaction of the series... besides the Lexmas AU world. *sigh*

There's one thing that doesn't make any sense to me.
After Lana met Tyler Randall in the cemitary and he decided to kill Fordman's dad, she went to Clark at the Torch. Why? Why doesn't she call the police, when she knows Tyler is going to try and kill someone?

It was ok for me. There are a lot worse episodes. And the last scene, with "Sparkle" playing was very cool
