Ep 1.15 - Nicodemus

The Nicodemus flower is back and it's making people go closer to their deepest instincts. Jonathan becomes violent; Lana becomes trampy; and Pete decides to get his revenge against Lex Luthor for what the Luthors did to his family.

Sorry, that wasn't really Kristin Kreuk in that pool scene - a body double was used, so please don't ask.

nicodemus is one of the best episodes of the first season. i like the whole story and the acting and everything. and plus lana was very hot in that episode, even if she had a stunt double in the pool scene.

I LOVED this episode! Best one of the season in my opinion. Excellent scene where Lana was stripping in the pool. Great body (though it made me wonder why they have a body double for Kirsten Kreuk) and Clark's reactions were hilarious.
The entire episode was worth watching just for seeing Jonathan and Martha make out in the kitchen! :D And on the counter too, there are precious few good J/M moments and that's one of them.

Wonderful episode! The "Good Old Boys" song playing on the radio as Jonathan drove down the road was priceless. To many great scenes to mention, but the Clana pool scene was a highlight. Geez, now i'm gonna have to go watch this episode on DVD again after talking about it.

LANA WAS SIZZZZZZLING!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) This was her sexiest scene! (And when she was a witch and kissed Clark, that was hot too!) I liked how the episode's tone was light, but its theme dark: behind each of us, there is an impassioned, unexpressed, repressed, "bad" side waiting to come out. Great acting by all, and John Schneider was hilarious!

I loved this episode. I thought Clark's reaction to Lana at the pool was priceless. I liked when Clark knocked Pete out just using his hand. That was great. When Jonathan shot Clark, Tom and John did good with that.

I liked this episode, mainly for Jonathan's scenes. It was a different side of Jonathan that we were not used to seeing, whether it be early in the series as this episode was, or throughout the five seasons aired. It was fun to see John Schneider go from a 'good ole boy' to rude and horny.

True, On their first kiss Lana wasn't herself. On their second kiss Clark wasn't himself. Only on their 3rd try they did a kiss when they're both normal.

I think one of the most provocative scenes involved the interaction between the alpha Lana and Lex at the Talon. Its interesting to see Lex's reaction to her total loss of inhibitions. He knew she wasn't "right" when the usual compliant sweetheart Lana stood up to Lex and told him what's what, even pushing him, and when she threw that glass at him, his facial expression was priceless, almost shell-shocked. This shows what she's really got on the inside.

Lana was really hot in this episode, but that wasn't the best part. I loved seeing Johnathan treat Lex like trash.

What did I think of Nicodemus? I liked this episode for several reasons:


1) Lana and Clark

I liked the Lana & Clark episode, when they're both at The Torch office (Chloe's office). Lana shows off her short skirt in front of Clark, and asks Clark, "Do you like it?" Clark's quick response was, "I think the operative word is 'gulp!'" Then she tells Clark to follow her, and Clark follows her all the way down to Smallville High's Swimming Pool. Clark asks Lana, "What are we doing here?" Lana answers Clark, "It's quiet." Clark quickly retorts, "It's also completely... off-limits." Then Lana dives into the pool, and swims over to Clark, and they have a very nice kiss. (This is the best part of Nicodemus: The Lana & Clark kiss);


2) The best moment of Clark & Martha:


My favorite Clark moment is when Martha & Clark talk to each other about Jonathan Kent. I liked the script and what she had to say to Clark.

Martha: Did I ever tell you about the first time I ever saw Jonathan Kent?

Clark: No.

Martha: He came to Metropolis U. to take a finance course and he was sitting by a fountain all denim and flannel and eating an apple. And I asked to borrow his notes. He didn't know that I was the note-taker for the class. He still doesn't.

Clark: You were sly, Mom.

Martha: He was so cute. So I asked him for his notes and he just handed over his notebook without even asking my name and I said, "How can you be sure I'll bring it back?" And he said, "I prefer to believe in people?" (Does this sound familiar? I loved this line, because Clark is always saying, "I prefer to believe in people. I prefer to look for the best in people").

Clark (listens intently to his Mom): That sounds like Dad.

Martha: And I remember looking at him, completely embarrassed because I was thinking the dumbest thing. I was thinking, "God, I hope he marries me." I still think that. Every day there's a part of me that says, "God, I hope he marries me!" (Martha was sobbing and Clark hugged his Mom).


3) Clark & Lana on top of the the big windmill called Chandler's Field:


I liked how Clark brought Lana all the way to the top of the windmill, and my favorite Clark Kent line is, "It's actually getting down which is going to be the interesting part. It's good to have you back, Lana."

Lana told Clark she spent the entire day apologizing to the Talon staff, to Lex and to Whitney. She tells Clark she wishes she remember what she said, and Clark tells Lana, "You spoke your mind and did what you wanted. Kind of an alpha Lana." Lana tells Clark that she couldn't believe what she was wearing. Clark tells Lana, "I kinda liked it," as he is smiling at Lana. Lana asks Clark, "How does it feel being on top of the world? Or at least Smallville?" And Clark ends with, "I feel free," and that's the end of the episode, Nicodemus.


4) My favorite Clark Kent moment of Nicodemus: Was the first Lana & Clark kiss: at the Smallville High Swimming Pool. Another favorite part is when Lana & Clark are sitting on top of the big windmill, and Lana says to Clark, "I couldn't believe what I was wearing," and Clark smiles at Lana and says to her, "I kinda liked it."


5) The funniest moment in the episode: is when Lana jokingly pushes Clark into the swimming pool. He looks embarrassed when Principal Kwan catches him in the pool, especially when it's off-limited. I just love Tom's hair, when he gets all wet!


6) I only wish that Clark could have a little fun in life. Especially when he was with Lana Lang. (I know he had a lot of fun with her in the end, but I wish that Clark didn't feel guilty about having fun with Lana Lang at the pool). And I wish he didn't have to blame himself, when his Dad was in the hospital, especially when he said, "With all my abilities, there's nothing I can do."


7) What do I like best about Tom's performance? I liked the way he was friendly with Kristin, and gave her a nice kiss. I like how Tom Welling would be happy and carefree one second, and then got angry at Michael/Lex Luthor the next. Then he became sad at worrying about his Dad, Jonathan Kent. Tom Welling played a good part in the episode, Nicodemus. He showed all his emotions very well.

8) Favorite Clark Kent line: "I think the operative word is gulp." Another favorite Clark Kent line is when he says to Lex, "I don't believe you. You're right, Pete. He's been lying to everyone. I know who my true friends are. You can't talk your way out of this one, Lex. I see how you really are. This friendship is over."

Favorite Pete Ross lines: "Wow. Drinking beer, mouthing off, and counter-macking with your mom? Congratulations, Clark. Your Dad's regressed back to being a teenager."
"That's right, Chloe. Ignore Pete. Pete's just the funny guy. You don't have to sweat his feelings, because you only got eyes for Clark."

Great episode. Jonathan was so funny, making out with Martha, drinking beer and taking naps, telling Lex what he thinks of him.

KK was really hot in that episode. She plays the confident sexy girl really well. I always wonder where they pick their clothes, it's like they all have slutty clothes in their wardrobe but they don't wear them unless they're not themselves.
I also loved the Lexana scene. You could see Lex was tortured, MR nailed that scene.

The flower FX was kinda lame.

The first shot of Pete where you see he's infected is really scary though... it's like too close or something.

Why would James Beels steal a flower in the first place? That always kinda nagged me. I mean, he obbviously didn't know what it did, or he wouldn't have let himself get killed by the effects of it.

I was just watching a episode of Star Trek TOS Season 1 called This Side Of Paradise and i couldn't stop thinking about how similar it is to think story , give or take a few things , if your a Star Trek Fan then maybe you noticed this before but if not ,watch it , it is really similar to Nicodemus

You have to remember 14/15 year olds were driving in this town as well as being the editor for the school newspaper. A Senior was dating a freshman(and it seemed like the relationship has been going on for awhile), etc etc etc
