Guys aren't the only ones with big crushes on Lana. Tina Greer (Lizzy Caplan) likes Lana so much that she wants to *be* her. With her meteor freak powers of shapeshifting, that might not be too difficult. Oh yeah, and Tina robs a bank as Lex. So much for playing the evil card later on.
Recurring character Roger Nixon (Tom O'Brien) makes his first appearance in this episode.

one of the things that always bothered me was when Tina showed up as Lana at the barn and started talking (as Lana) about her problems with Nell. How did Tina know about that? I've always wondered about that.

Tina was probably stalking Lana at that point. How else would she know what Lana wears to school?

I just wonder in Smallville, freshman year, how come Chloe, Lana and Clark all drive on a regular basis and no one thinks anything of it? Clark's supposed to be 14, chloe too, lana is 15 I think.. Pete also drives before turning 16.pretty big hole to leave...

i loved this episode, and at first wondered how x-ray vision could possibly help clark in this one. that is whats great about smallville, you can't always tell whats coming!

I remember the first time I saw this episode I was blown away the first time it showed the X-Ray vision. The special effects are amazing!

this may be looking too into it, but in farm country, kids start driving as early as 9 and 10. mostly farm equipment though.
also, maybe kansas law allows 14 year olds to drive?
or, thats just one more thing the smallville writters overlooked.
anyways, i was watching this episode episode yesterday, and i forgot how much it makes me laugh! oh, I love clark so much! he is so funny.

Has anyone noticed that Tina is using Clark's red backpack.
Speaking of the backpack, can you believe that he has the same one for all 4 years of high school?

that backpack drives me insane. but it also makes me laugh.
I thought this episode was really good. tina greer is one of my favorite freak of the weeks ever.
and just in case there're people who haven't figured this out, lizzy caplan later had a part in that lindsey lohan movie "mean girls" that was out last year or whenever that was.

I really like this episode. The X-ray vision looks really cool with the skeletons but i think he should be able to see peoples faces too. he could do it on this episode but never again. maybe next season.

Yeh X-Ray was an awsome episode i reckon. The way they introduced it was really good. Tina Greer annoyed the heck out of me but Clark put her in her hole again. But yeh sweet as episode

I explained this in another thread.
In high school tv shows, they often portray freshman doing things that usually only happen in junior and senior year. Things like driving, drinking, being intimate, road trips, and hard partying for reasons of the show being more interesting and doing more things wioth the charachters.
see, freshamn and sophmores usually arnt that mature and are very close too middle school kids in terms of how they spend their time.
If they portrayed Clark as a realistic high school kid the first two seasons he would have spent most of season 1 and two playing video games with Pete and using his powers to play pranks on other people, bumming rides from his mom when he needed to fight crime.

This episode was brilliant. I especially loved the scene where he looks into the girls' locker room. I was laughing hysterically. Great episode.

^hahaha! :D
Tina Greer is one of the freakiest freaks of Smallville! hahaha.
I like the whole part of the plot about Lana and her mom. Chlana friendship (Chloe and Lana :) ).
I love Ma and Pa Kent helping Clark with his powers. They are so delightfully stubborn.
Clark flies!!!
I love the deleted scene from this episode. It shows that Ma and Pa Kent are so calm and undaunted when helping Clark with his powers because they have their meltdowns when they are alone together. They make functional families exciting! :) Which of course they should be! :D
Tina is one creepy chick. She looks angry all the time too (except when she's with lana).

er, actually, i think that clark is 16 or really close to 16 cuz in the episode where chloe is kidnapped, hes like " back in 9th grade..." meaning he has to be in grade 10 or up. i think that mabey each season isnt a fulll smallville year..mabey its like 3 quarters of a year. season one-clark is 15, season 2-he turns 16 at end of season, season 3 he turns still 17, season 4 he is 17, season 5 turns 18, season six he is 18-19
in season six he shud be in his second year of college, rite? soo, he shud be 19

When was Chloe kidnapped? I remember she was in the second or third to last episode in season 4 when a kid recreated the school in a warehouse, but I don't think Clark would have said that in the first season because they were supposed to be freshmen then.

Chloe gets kidnapped near the end of the first season. It's the episode where Lana sees through the eyes of the kidnapper.

I have just started smallville season 1 rerun for the sixth time. i miss the innocence of the first few seasons.
The scene with Lex and Nixon in the mansion is fantastic!

Just watched this episode again and I totally love it.
The way the X-Ray vision is introduced it's really cool, and I loved how Martha and Jonathan helped Clark with it, it really makes me miss them so much :(
I absolutely love Lex's response to Roger's blackmailing, when he tells him that he'll make him dissapear, that was so cool  and then when it shows him the destroyed Porsche.
I'll always consider this ep as the one when Lex started screwing things up with Clark, 'cause it's when he started that whole investigation :(

Amen to that. When I watch that episode I'm like noooo Lex don't hire Nixon, just don't.. you'll ruin everything!
I love that episode. It had a great opening sequence (Lex robbing a bank, quite funny) and Tina's power gave many possibilities. I didn't like the actress that played Tina, she did look kinda angry all the time, but luckily most of Tina's part was played by other characters.
The Clark/Lana(Tina) kiss was really sexy. I didn't remember it that way, I was quite shocked to see a *sexual* kiss so early in the series (SV is usually so coy).
The only downside to the episode? It's only the fourth one and I'm already sick of people obsessing with Lana (two episodes out of four seems way too much).

That's what I said yesterday when I saw this episode again :D
But other than that, I simply LOVE this episode. so much.

I don't know if I can stand to watch the early seasons anymore - not much of a Lana fan, and those seasons were chock-full of her lol

X-Ray vision rocks! Tina Greer had a very cool power, but all the obsession with Lana is crazy! I went  when Clark looked through the wall to see Lana remove her towel, I know Clark isn't Supes just yet but SHAME ON HIM, surely he has better values than that! :p

I gave this one an 8/10 mainly because I really enjoy all the episodes where Clark learns a new power and x-ray vision is pretty awesome. I didn't care much for the story about the obsessed friend but it was ok.
