I missed like thirty minutes of the show. I was wondering how Lex know about Jonathan and Lionel's fight?

He didn't say. I'm assuming from his infamous sources is how he found out. The thing is he knows, and he only told Lionel and not the Kent family.

He's probably got Lionel low-jacked. And since Jonathan Kent was running against him, he probably had him low-jacked as well..

Lex is waiting for the right moment to tell Clark and Martha, he'll do it when it serves his purpose. He really is his father's son.

Im guessing, Lex is really going to the Darkside. If it was Lex from S1-S3, he would have told Clark.

What is more interesting is the fact that Lionel let that simple piece of information get to him. He really has the hots for Martha, doesn't he? Cuz it definately ain't for money or power that he made his choice.

You might be right LifeBound, Lionel could have gotten out of that clean. But something tells, me it has something to do with Martha also.

Lex is going to use it in his own way as an attempt to gain clark's trust back. Do the usual, get in a fight with him, reiterate that there is a rift, then say "well as an act of trust I *just* found this out about your dad's death." and clark will be all "I miss my pal lex, let's be buds again" and Lex will be all "hell no I won't go." ok...maybe that was a little much.

Don't think they will ever be friends now. There is just to much for them to actually be friends. They know they can't trust one of another.

He's a Luthor and as a Luthor he could have done almost anything to find out that Lionel and JK met

Man he got Lionel good. I think this shows that he is surpassing his Father. Almost a passing of the torch, so to speak.

I just cant understand how he can know if Jonathan and Lionel were alone in the barn. I just cant figure that out. It has me stumped. I am going insane over this. This episode has me so confused I love it!

IMO, Lex will bring this info to the Kents in an attempt to "gain back" some trust as he made well aware Clark wasn't returning his phone calls.
Clark and Martha will confront Lionel and then Lionel will share the "secret" he brought to JK's attention.
I do think, that JK misunderstood Lionels intentions in the barn.
Lionel will convince Clark that he was trying to protect both Martha and Clark.
OR
Clark knows about Lionel and WHO he really is...and so when Lex shares the information...it won't phase Clark.

I don't see how Lex ratting out his Dad will win back the Kent's trust. It'll only be further proof that the Luthors are e-vil.

I don't understand this either...Maybe he was having Lionel followed?
I'm sure Lex called in one of his "specialists" (from whatever field) from Metropolis to get this information :)
Can't wait to find out where they're going with this situation...either way, I don't think it bolds well for Lionel.

Sadly, I don't think the writers know how Lex knew about the fight. I think they just stuck it in their and hoped the audience would go along with it.
*Maybe* Lex decided to have JK followed after the events of Fanatic... y'know, in case crazy bald chick showed up to take another shot at him. But Lex can't provide his own security guards, let alone someone else's.
Also, I think if either of the men were followed, we should have seen a hint of it in Reckoning.
The likeliest answer is that Lex is bluffing. He could have had JK's phone wiretapped, so he could know the meeting was supposed to take place. Then he saw the bruises on Lionel's face and put 2 and 2 together. He doesn't have any proof, but he is about to lose the company, so what does it matter?

Lex was drunk and trying to talk to Lana at the time. He couldn't have had any association at the time the meeting occurred. I guess they (the writers) figured there is no need for an explanation of how this impossible info was obtained.

Lex knows the way the Luthor's know all these little things about each other obviously keeping tabs on one another by having each other followed is most probably the way the writers would like us to see it, that's my best guess anyway.
Peace To All.

maybe when Lex saw PaKent drive past Lana and him, he thought something was up, since PaKent had just won the election and should have been celebrating with his family at HQs. So Lex got suspicious and followed him to the barn.

:rotfl: This was my favorite speculation.
Seriously though, I'm betting that he must've had some sort of microphone system rigged up in there at some point.
