No questions when Clark saved him from 20 feet away.....he definitely knows about Clarks secret.

Yea. I think they want to keep us guessing, but he knows, at least some of it. He may not be long for this world in that case.

I too think he has known for quite a while, since he was fake blind in the helicopter when Clark saved Martha and Lionel in Nocturne. Remember he said it is amazing what people will do right in front of you when they think you are blind.

Is it me, or is Clark getting a little sloppy with hiding his powers?

If Lionel knows of Clark's powers and his identity, sooner or later..........

I think he does know and has known a long time. He just keeps it to himself for his own reasons...whatever they are.

I really think Lionel is Jor-El at this point. Come on, from 20 feet away, your not going to suspicious.

How could he be Jor-El and still be so ruthless with Luthor Corp.?
(Yes I am still naive in thinking that Jor-El is a good guy :) )

I think Clark is the true hero...protect your identity, sure...but not at all costs. Lionel, in Clark's opinion, shouldn't die there...so, as the hero...he needs to save him...if that means, in a way, revealing his powers, then so be it...that's what he must do.
I never thought of Lionel as knowing about Clark...but, a small part of that makes sense to me. If Lionel knows Clark's secret...he'll hold on to it. If nothing else, it's because that is what Lex has been trying to figure out for 5 seasons now! And Lionel likes having that bit of knowledge.
And, that episode was fantastic! Much much much better than I expected it to be. Just wow...it handled everything right (I thought). And...holy god...if anyone had done for me what Lana did for Clark in the end...I'd propose right there!

I'm starting to think that the reason Lionel showed up at the barn in Reckoning was not for blackmail but to show Jonathan that he's on the same side and that the money was a gift not to be paid back. Perhaps Jonathan just flew off the handle without really knowing why he was there. Maybe Lionel knew that if Lex became state senator, that he would get so much more power and spying on the Kents would become much easier, therefore he wanted Jonathan to win bar-none.

Part of the intrigue is that we don't know what the heck is going on with Lionel! Gotta admit that it's pretty fun right?
I agree that he has to know. I couldn't believe he didn't even react to the save and Clark didn't seem worried at all. Maybe that was a bit of a hole.

I think that he know's something. He didn't even give any reaction to Clark saving him from so far away. It was kind of like he expected it.

I saw the episode where Clark used his powers infront of Lionel while he was blind (never believed he was blind to begin with) and then the episode where they showed that his blindness was a charade. Put 2 and 2 together and we've known Lionel knew all this time. I mean how could he not have known. Didn't Clark take a bullet right infront of him in that episode??

Yeah, he actually did but the blindness issue has been a long ongoing debate for years. Never officially knew until later on the season, but the question remains when it occured specifically.

Very good thinking
I believe Clark takes the bullet infront of the blind Lionel in Insurgence which is episode 2-12 and Lionel is not blind 3 episodes later in Prodigal episode 2-15.... He Knows, and he KNEW!!!!

Actually he took a bullet in front of him in Red 2-04. But he does use his powers in front of Lionel a couple of times when He's blind I think. Not entirely sure.
But, let's say that Lionel during his fake blindness, however long it lasted, did witness Clark using his powers. That would have set into motion Lionel's obsession with finding out what Clark was, in hopes that it would bring him the cure for his liver failure. He knows Clark has superpowers, but doesn't know how. He believes him to be connected to the caves, and to be an alien, but doesn't have proof. We definately know however, looking back that he's had to know for quite some time. Remember in Legacy, 3-17, the fight between Jonathan and Lionel, and Clark and Lionel?
Clark- You'll never find what you're looking for.
Lionel- I'm much closer than you think.
Jonathan-You want somethign that doesn't belong to you. I'm not gonna let you take it.
Lionel-There exists some things in this world that are too valuable to be the sole posession of any one person.
I think Lionel's known about Clark's powers since season 2, and suspected his alien heritage for quite some time. But he didn't know for sure until he was zapped by the water element, and was downloaded with the Kryptonian knowledge. That's when he knew for sure. But by then he was cured of his liver disease, and believed Clark to be responsible, so ever since he was cured he was helping Clark out with the suspicion that Clark was who the stones were meant for. And then he got zapped, and knew for sure, and has ever since been silently helping Clark whenever he can.

He may have known since we learned of his interceptions of Dr. Swann's emails to Clark (back in Legacy). I think Lionel was still blind in Red, Nocturne and up to the time period around Prodigal. I doubt he would have "played blind" in Skinwalker when the wolf was about to attack him or in Suspect when he sensed someone wanting to do harm to him.
He definitely knows now. I think the loss of memory in Transference was a hoax on his end. He must have shot Jason because of Clark's secret since he was no threat to Lex at the edge of that cliff.

Smallville is going to get so much more interesting if Lionel does indeed know.

oh, he knows for sure. thats what the picture is. I think he was not lying when he felt that goodness inside of him in oynx... but.... i think he's slowly going back to be an evil lionel. I loved it in this episode when he's like, I'm back! I posted this somewhere else, but he's just trying to get into clark's family to secure a relationship with him. im gonna go as far as to say he wanted JK out of the picture (he was so distrustful of lionel), so he funded the campaign hoping his heart wouldnt take it but trying to be there for MK. I know this "get into clark's life" idea is not going to work for him, but evil cannot comprehend good. If clarks family was not as good and discerning as it is, it probably would work. its a badass plan.
I also kinda think he was not always evil, but progressed back to who he is now. And after his sins are commited (elminating JK), you really see his evil side come out, in vengence.
this doesnt really explain how he knows about milton fine yet. I heard a theory that as being an oracle of kryptonian knowledge, he knows about clark and brainiac. this would explain why he knew about clark, why he knew about milton, and why he wants to do what he is doing. as to why he told chloe, maybe to see if she knew and also maybe to get on her good side. the whole helping clark outcome in that scene... might be been coincidental.
you have to concede on one way or another, that the chain of events were too unpredicable for jor-el to purposefully tell chloe so she finds out miltons true identity so she comes to the fortress - what? who could plan that?

I think that Lionel got his powers back just before Insurgence (2-12). I rewatched that today to get an inkling of just when he might have known about Clark, and Clark infront of a "blind" Lionel, superspeeds, uses his strength a bit, and his heat vision. And it occured to me that Lionel might have gotten his strength back right then, when the villian dropped the gun, Lionel knew where it was, he looked right at the gun as it fell, and then we find out he picked up the gun, and shot the guy in the back in front of Clark. I think thats the earliest hint at Lionel being able to see. You also catch glimpses of him watching Martha pick up the files off the floor, and the look on his face as one of "okay, how am I going to play this one out".
I think he's supsected Clark has had powers since Red. He learned for sure in Insurgence, and suspected Clark to be an alien when he learned about the prophecies in the caves. Then he turned good as a result of Transference, realized it was because of Clark. And shot JT on the cliff because he didn't want him blabbing the secret to Lex. He didn't know for sure yet what Clark was, but he knew he was connected to the stones somehow. It wasn't until he was downloaded with the kryptonian knowledge that he knew everything. Braniac. Kryptonite's effects on Kryptonian's. Clark's heritage, all of it. And since then he's been helping Clark as best he could. Including making sure the secret stays a secret.
