From Lana getting the watch back for Clark, to Martha and Clark just breaking down in each other's arms, and Jonathan saying 'bye-bye', I lost it. I admit it.

So sad he's gone, I wish he never died..
I doubt i'd of felt sad whatsoever if Lana was the one to go in the previous episode...

It was the best ending ever! I absolutely loved it! When Jonathan said "bye bye" it was a wonderful send off. I can't put into words how much I really loved it.

Beautiful scene. I think I'm gonna cry again! >.<

it was a powerful ending.

but i couldn't help but notice how short clark's jacket was on him. lol. when they showed martha noticing him wearing the watch...all i could think bout was...'wow...his sleeves are really short!'

Incredible, incredible ending. And I loved that the only dialogue you hear is Jonathan Kent speaking on the film. Such a powerful choice. And Tom, you're killing me here. Between him and AOT, they break my heart. I thought the funeral was beautiful last week, but this scene was even more beautiful because it had so much heart.

My eyes were misty.............seeing the video, then Clark and Martha breaking down and grieving.........powerful. I have seen Clark cry before...........yet they walked right into my heart

You know, especially for anyone who has lost someone close to them, which is most people... it was hard not to get choked up and feel the waterworks wanting to come out... brilliant acting, just wow! and the music always adds effect, damn the music!!

Soooo damn sad, it reminded me of Doyle, off of Angel. He too said his farwell on tape "Is that it, Am i done"

I would have to say my favorites have been.

1. Buffy season 5 finale
2. Smallville Jonathan "bye-bye"
3. Angel Doyle "is that it"
4. X-Files Closure, where he finally finds his sister in the field as a ghost, moby music playing in the background.
5. Angel Cordelia

I didn't lose it outwardly... but I felt that was a moment that needed to be there.

the fact that the image of him on the t.v. as they were falling apart.... I felt was a trully sufficient goodbye.

I think both the cast... and the fans.. never really got a chance to say goodbye last week.

This brought some much needed closure to the situation.

yep, it was a great ending....I really hope Clark grives like this a few more shows too. It's getting close for him to become Superman!!

actaully the whole crying comment if u looked closely in last week episode during the jorel scene he was crying and then once or twice before in another episode or two i believe he cried. and yes i thought it was a powerful and effective ending and gave johnath a better last line.

As superspider02 said, this is not the only time clark has cried but it is the first time he has outright sobbed.

He cried when his mom was lecturing him about marrying Alicia in Unsafe, he cried last week in Reckoning while he is begging Jor-el about Lana, and I believe that there have been a couple other times as well.

2. Angel: Cordelia passing on
3. Smallville: Jonathan "bye-bye"

I didnt break down and cry on the outside like I did at the end of last weeks episode. Which I still think the last 10 minutes of that episode was the best of the whole series but the end here with Clark and Martha did break my heart I didnt cry on the outside but I wanted to. Tom broke my heart with his acting.

And in all honesty I really was not liking Lana this episode but when she went to all that trouble to find Jonathan's watch for Clark she did redeem herself just a lil bit. Lana for sure is a good and true friend to Clark. But I couldnt help but think 'Dang she drove 6 hours to Metropolis and looked in every paen shop in the city. Metropolis has got to have hundreds of pawn shops. Wow Lana does have super powers!'

Billy Jor-El
02-02-2006, 11:31 PM
That's what caught me off guard. I thought it would have been Andrea leaving the watch behind for Clark, with maybe a note at most. The fact it was Lana, and that she searched all the pawn shops to find it (amazing that she paid enogh attention to the watch to have known all this time exactly what JK's timepiece looked like!!!????) made a bit of redemption for her. Still, I was liking the distant nature Clark paid to her at first, and will not be too pleased if he tries to get back together with her in any relationship ever again. She's the reason JK is gone, and Clark knows it...even if he ultimately caused it.

The end of the episode was worth the price of admission, the best scene of the ep for sure....

The ending definitely WAS one of the high points, & my eyes did well up a bit. It was unfortunate that it followed the low point (Clana revisited), but seeing JK on that TV blotted Pinkie from my memory. Well done by TW & AOT. The way it SHOULD be.

Remus

The ending was just about the best part of the episode. One of the things that made me start crying is that, you have the TV paused on Jonathan smiling and waving cheerfully, while Clark is standing there crying with Martha comforting him. It was just a very touching ending for a character, and is definitely on the top three best character endings that I've seen. :(

Just about the only other one that made me cry like I did at that scene is when Wesley died in Angel.. But, that could have been because it was the final episode of the series.

The ending was the ONLY good part about the episode. Tha last two scenes. Where CK get's the watch back, and when the video is playing. The rest is a POOR EXCUSE for a S'ville episode.

One of the most powerful smallville endings to date. I am really glad they let JK say a goodbye to everyone. He will be missed.

I could have done without the whole Avenging Angel storyline. It didn't serve a purpose.

FREAK4LLL:P
02-04-2006, 03:38 AM
John Snyder did it perfectly. His smile looked as if to say goodbye to the viewer while not looking out of place in the video. Props.

Lex/Lionel was hot sh*t. Chloe and Clark using their brains is always fun and there was some senseless killing where I got to see some of Clark's passion for true justice. Chloe and Martha helped make the episode seem like real people and evened out the cartoonish tone. I love when they get the balance perfect!

I don't know if that necklace is a throwback to Batman or Lana but I'm assuming the former. I just replaced the girl with Batman in my head, knowing TPTB can't use Batman, and enjoyed it more than I normally would've probably.

Lionel and Martha is gross. I didn't miss Lois in the least. Chlois and Clark is the new hotness. Meaning Chloe in the Lois position in Lois n' Clarky episodes.

i thought JK was one of the better if not best actors on the program. he did a great job on the show and his acting was very believable with realistic expressions and all. This is what made it really hard to see him go. i dont think i would have been as upset to see his mom go but still sad. Either way i cried and it was a very sad and beautiful ending and a farewell to a great character on the show :(
RIP JK :( his honest and looked up to stature will be missed by many im sure

I too cried during that scene....but for personal reason, it took me back to when my father past away. It is something that never goes away....like clark said, it feels like its not real. Lana put it best ...when people try their best to comfort you, its nice from them but you know you're the only one truly going through the emotions all alone.

I just watched the episode, didn't have time to before, and i had to rewind the end over and over....like it was my father saying good bye.

Show did well(cry)

omg what a powerful ending, both TW & AT's acting was so amazing here. Right when I saw JK in the tape I just broke down. The writers really knew what they were doing. This was a good way to bring closure. I miss JK even more now.

I thought it was the best ending of the series so far. Both my mom and dad died suddenly nearly 14 years ago. I was amazed at how emotional I felt when I saw TW cry at the end when he saw JK on the tape. It made me cry all over again. Two days ago my wife asked me what was wrong and I said that "Bo" died on Smallville. She said that it was only a tv show. I said "Yea, I know, but they really did a great job with the episode!" I will really miss John Schneider's character on the show.

I have to say, I wasn't expecting much from the ending (based on the last disappointing episode). But I was very impressed, very moved, and reminded of why I fell in love with the show in the first place: it's a good action show that still manages to have a lot of heart. I was so happy to see Tom Welling actually shed some real tears this time! It made me a little weepy myself....

This is ironic because I just lost my mother and we buried her on the day when the 100th episode aired. I know that pretty much everyone here has lost someone close to them, but I just thought it was really weird what days it feel on.

I didnt cry when I finally saw the 100th episode 5 days later, but I totally lost it when Clark and Martha were crying and the video was playing. I do agree that that ending was one of the best smallville has done, hands down.

To ClLaLeChFAN01: My condolences, I lost my own a few months ago and I still haven't fully recovered. Your loss must be overwhelming.

I thought the episode was very moving, both with Lana finding the watch (although she drew away when he stepped closer)and with the actual goodbye scene.

I did notice that JK was still in the opening credits. Now that he's had the chance to give us all a proper goodbye, are they going to remove it from future episodes . . .

02-08-2006, 07:52 AM
They may continue to do "memory" scenes of J Kent. That is just supposition on my part, but if they did, they would keep his name in the credits. It will be so depressing to not see him in the opening scenes.
