I think it is because Lionel has feelings for Martha and Lex knows that and as such Lex knows that Martha not forgiving Lionel is one of the worst things he could to his father.

That what I think too. Lionel has loved her from season 2 at least...maybe even season 1. Now that he thinks he may have a chance the last thing he would want is Lex ruining it.

I agree also, like I said in the other thread. Lionel could have possibly gotten out of that clean. By making some good excuse. But I think he has the hots for Martha.

Agree completely, Im hoping Martha doesn't fall for Lionel though.
