no with real diplomatic immunity if a crime is commited they can't be "arrested" but they will be deported to their home counrty. What we saw tonight was the TV/Movie version of it.

Diplomatic Immunity: very real. Minor infractions no trouble at all. Major infractions the govt. can ask their home govt to recall the diplomat.

Very True, and sometimes if the Home Country does not waive extradition rights, criminals get away. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomatic_Immunity

At a minimum, he would be "recalled" to his own country, which is a nice way of saying he'd be kicked out of our country.

As a practical matter, if the home country was friendly, they could waive the immunity and let him be tried here or, considering the crime is such that his home country could prosecute, his home country would try him for slaving.

Even with a non friendly country, considering the nature of the crime, he would probably be tried for something or tunred over to interpol. Unless he was too well connected to be prosecuted for anything, diplomatic immunity wouldn't be much help to him.

In the real world, diplomatic immunity is great for traffic tickets, but no country wants its diplomatcs connected with murder and sex slavery.
