The narration didn't really work for me. I got a total Dawn's journal vibe from the whole episode (Buffy the Vampire Slayer lol). It just didn't really work for me and the fact that the whole story was in flashback was...well...not a great move on their part.

Well Clark might have filled her in for a lot of it, now that he can reveal what REALLY happened. I just wonder how Chloe explained Buffy's dissapearance.

she's an investigative reporter. she did all the research. she tells pauline kahn that at the end of the ep. interviews, cdc reports...chloe does her research. that's how she can put in the details for those events she wasn't present for.
and i liked chloe's narration. it was different and unexpected, but a nice change of pace.

See, in a way, it kind of worked for me.
So many of the complaints leading up to this ep (which was imperfect, granted) was that it was wrong for SV to pull something so blatantly non-Supes-mythology. (Yes, even more than the Lanabel fiasco.)
In a way, I think they acknowledged that this was in a way separate from the main storyline, by putting in within the frame of the Chloe-as-narrator.
Was it imperfect? Of course. But I think the brilliance of the Flex scenes (and especially Marsters' acting) covers over the unusual approach to the "A" plot.

I already started a thread about it, but the fact that the episode was narrated indicates something important to the "big picture" that is Smallville and Supes' future.
At least, I think its semi-important, if not of full import.
see: the "Future SuperHeroes" and "Up, Up, and Away" thread for info
the whole narraration thing has been done before in many other shows. It's getting really old, now. The episode could have been better if there wasn't any narraration in it.

I had no problem. Chloe made the ep. Otherwise it was a fairly silly vampire thing, but Chloe the (future) reporter...at the DP, telling her story tous here....works for me.
And Pauline Kahn didn't make any mention of Chloe's former cloumn in the DP having a byline of......Lois Lane...hmmmmm.
Chloe gets her dream job at the Planet.....home fo future super heroes.....I'm tellin' ya, is she Lois or what????

I feel it was very appropriate since Chloe was writting a story about the events. It also begs to question about honesty in media and how some might play up actual events to get some kind of sensationalism for readers. Since it was a story being told we are left with a question of if this really happend, at least in this way. It was well presented in this fashion.

I liked the narration. It's always a nice change of pace when a show does a different perspective.
And sure, it had a Sex in the City vibe, but what's wrong with that? That show was awesome.

I for one, liked the dynamic of having Chloe narrating the story. As she as become more of an observer/sidekick than a part of the love triangle with Lana. Maybe in the future Lois will play that role. But for now, it's nice to see someone being the sidekick, but having a life, and a story of there own(....Pete).
Yes, it is very Sex in the Cityish, but this makes you look at Smallville from a whole different angle. Maybe she is telling the whole Superman Mythos as a reporter at the DP....
But I also liked the last scene with her at the Daily Planet, where she quotes "up, up and away." She also says that it was the place for future superheros. That did not make much sense. How did she know that Clark will work there in the furture?

That's because she's narrating from the future. That's if my assumptions are correct.

But they showed her writting in the here and nnw.
I too thought about the narration from the future, but then they should have shown her in the future not now.

DAMN. My VCR ran out of tape and I missed the first 5 minutes. So Chloe got the job and claimed that the DP was the "home of future superheros?"
How the hell would she know that? Maybe she was using the term figuratively, implying that she believes reporters to be superheros, or maybe she forsees Clark having the ability to be DP material. I'm finding it hard to believe that its narration from the future, BUT it would be very cool if it was, because that would mean that her future is bright. :)

Chloe AND Lois working at the D.P. in the future? And both know Clark's secret? And Clark now confides in Chloe before Lois (seems like he would have to do that for Chloe to get this info)?
Things getting pretty crowded. I never really took the Chloe is Lois stuff seriously. But they are teasing us now with hints that could suggest a big change in the Supes story.
Nahh, I still think Chloe is Chloe and Lois is Lois.

Yeah, I'm hoping it's from the future, but wow, if TPTB did that, would we have to give them more credit then they are due?
